UsirRaMaroon People always talk about that “not a good qb” stuff post-97. He lost his go-to wide receiver (Thigpen...who never had another great season), a huge chunk of his O-line (Dawson), AND his offensive coordinator (Gailey). That’s recipe for disaster for almost any QB. No, he was never “elite”, but he was solid when he had the proper tools (most importantly an OC who knew what to do with him). He did well in 2001...and even the latter part of 2000. Kordell’s biggest issue was consistency. Lesser QBs have dealt with less criticism.
@tlegend53904 жыл бұрын
UsirRaMaroon Is that you, Crash?
@Odawg964 жыл бұрын
UsirRaMaroon I spent too much time 20 or so years ago about Cowher, Kordell, and the QBs with guys who sounded just like you. There are debates I can go on about infinitely, but not this one. I never said the guy was great, just serviceable and erratic. I WILL throw out this one fun fact that you have overlooked: you mentioned Ward’s and Burress’s numbers in 2001, but then talk up their numbers the next year (2002). However, the first time the Steelers EVER had two thousand-yard receivers in a single season, Kordell Stewart was the QB. Of course, I know you’ll downplay that and act as if he had nothing to do with it. I digress. Again...been there, done that years ago. Don’t bother replying.
@tlegend53904 жыл бұрын
UsirRaMaroon You sound like a loser I knew at the SteelersLive site named “Crash.” ODawg didn’t say Stewart was great just that he was “serviceable”...like most of Cowher’s QBs Brister through Maddox. They’ve only had one elite QB since Bradshaw retired and that’s Big Ben. Anyway, Crash, Stewart still had the team on the cusp of two Super Bowls. Bad luck and decision-making both times, but the second time, if you take away the two special-teams gaffes, the Steelers actually win.
