For example, Morgott isn't a very hard boss to no hit with a normal build. If I told you to beat him on RL1 with an unupgraded weapon? It ain’t that deep. Thrusting swords just hit quicker and have very fast recovery on top, which allows him to exploit certain attack windows not accessible to larger weapons, while still having decent damage. Basically more freedom of attack, ult users on the other hand need to really look out for certain combo‘s attack windows, since not every window is big enough to be exploited by ults.

Without buffs in many fights such as Relanna It's about doing it at the right space to make your opponent wiff their attack so you can land the backstep follow up attack. The back step is only possible if you have the talisman to give your backstep i-frames. I’d honestly say it’s easier to shield, parry, or deflecting tear it. Since you don’t need to use a talisman slot (which can improve your damage by 20%, essentially making this fight 125% faster. Or it can defend the damage taken for more survivability).

When you click with his fighting-rhythm, though, you can mop the floor with him. Radahn's fight allows very little room for improvement and honing your skill, rather being designed to be tackled with summons in mind so you can redirect his rather unforgiving aggression. Both of these bosses are Tuesday for Ongbal anyway lmao

FromSoftware has to make a secret optional NPC boss/invasion inspired by Ongbal. He barely has any health and uses a very basic weapon, but he can avoid damn near every attack unless you have even more precise timing, can counter your parries, emotes as you're flailing around and even walks to his own "camera," then switches to flashier weapons for criticals. If you can somehow beat him the game credits roll.

im not trying to discredit him, its swag as all is, but its not too far fetched to think of, anyone who plays monsterhunter would know about how useful s with backhops are. but the extra damage you take with the charm that gives means you are more likely to die from everything else which defeats the purpose of increasing survivability. also the move is really hard to react to so reducing your defense just to have a chance at avoiding that one attack or end up guaranteed dead is a huge riskreward 😅

After looking up he was weak to piercing damage I ended up going to tiny rapier stabs naturally too (Antspur rapier so bonus lore rot points) but watching Ongbal helped so much. I didn't try running away from the meteor move until I saw it in the video 😅

Took me around 100 tries to beat him with hookclaws. Looking up how this guy does it not hit helped immensely as in p2 towards the end Radahn starts doing some weird fucking attack that is hard to follow due to flashes exploding in between the swings.

@@skoop4477 you can avoid the attack occasionally being too low to be hit. Depending on where you and Radahn are in the arena, since the floor height is variable, sometimes the two swipes will just miss entirely. I’ve tried dodging to the right and I still get clipped every now and then.

The Fine Crucible Feather Talisman is a literal game changer. Opens up so many more possibilities to avoid damage and retaliate with backstep attacks. Fun and functional, just don't get hit.

@@SnakeHelah literally the first attack after Radahns opening attack is undodgeable unless u position perfectly or u do a frame perfect roll which is practically impossible, the talisman allows him to reliable dodge it.

Ongbal only uses the fine crucible feather talisman but if ur trying to do an rl1 kill of pcr and u want to have backstep s get the Talisman of All Crucible in Rauh as that'll also give u the extra roll s from regular crucible feather

It's something I'm glad they reintroduced, backsteps used to have s in previous souls titles. I was pretty disappointed to learn they didn't in eldenring, backstep attacks add a nice variety to all weapons but with no s it's seldom meritable.

@@Sekiro_lover I'm pretty sure all souls backsteps had s prior to er, the wood grain ring from ds1 made the backsteps significantly farther/longer. I only really utilized it in ds2 pvp, but I could be misremembering. I'll look it up on my next break
