That is a command vehicle due to the variety of antenna. Because there is an outhouse for that command vehicle, that implies it is some high level officer there who is "too good" to use a poop trench. The higher the level of officer, the more "entitled" they are to an outhouse instead of a trench. So hopefully it was at least a major or colonel in the outhouse or vehicle when the JDAM came down.

Since the A-10 is a low and slow support aircraft, the wings are a 'higher lift aspect,' than other jet aircraft. So that 'glide,' to the runway was possible. But you were more lucky on the distance from the airport. Having the altitude was a bonus! I think the biggest amount of drag on the airframe, were the engines. Twin big honking turbofans, windmilling in the slipstream! Pucker factor 10! Good work though!

The A-10 has the largest wings relative to it's size of any fighter currently in the US arsenal with very low wing loading, and this guy says "It doesn't strike me as a glider". While technically true, it's going to glide quite well considering. Better than other fighters would anyways.

Fabulous show as always GS. As an adjunct to this video, if you ever get the chance to read the book "Don't cry for me Sgt Major"; the story of the battle for the Falklands. You'll read of the SAS who were already on land and "taking notes" before our ships got in their waters. When they aspied one of the bungalows that was being used as headquarters by the Argentinians and there was an outside Loo. Whereupon they saw one of the Argentinian commanders go into the loo to take a dump. At this point the SAS soldiers thought it a good idea to take out said enemy and fired tracer rounds into the wooden shed/loo whereupon the tiny building exploded. I did a tour in Kosovo and one day our 1SG was using a porta-potty near the hello pads when a Marine Sea Stallion came in. and yes it the John and him over. he came out covered in blue dye. Nice dead stick landing. Fun fact about gliding; you'll see out the windshield that some terrain is moving up and some terratin is moving down relative to a fixed point on the top of the dash. Where these points converge is where you will land.
