Imagine a fifteen year old who believes in Johannesburg. A city whose glory days were long gone way before he was born. That's vision, a trait that's been in short supply from the leaders that we've had in recent years. I like his passion and I hope he never loses it. I hope he receives all the support he needs from all of us. With these great young minds, our future is in good hands

Young man you are absolutely spot on with everything you said! Please don’t ever lose your drive, Joburg needs you. I actually got so excited when you spoke about trams. I’ve been an advocate for them since 2016 when I first learned about their existence in our city. You just lifted my Joburg Pride. Thank you Dave for sharing this brilliant young man with us.

Isn't it funny how a 15 year old ... with so much aspiration take the whole GNU ... to school. (Good for you).You go young man, we have been talking for years, time for the future leaders to stand up. God be with you. You have my vote. Our country needs to bend the knee and come to terms with our Creator, and He is working ... This young man is a perfect example.

Bright kid. I really like the infrastructure piece, especially that of restoring the tram system. There is no such thing as DEI in South Africa. Since I am commenting on the ideas of a child, I will keep my kid gloves on and leave it there. I can understand why someone born a decade and a half after apartheid would protest having less employment opportunities with potentially better qualifications. Welcome to being black in America. I do think affirmative action should be waived for small businesses with less than 26 employees. I do think it should be easier to terminate problematic employees in small businesses with less than 26 employees. That is a concern of mine as I intend to invest in South Africa within the next few years. Businesses that have scaled theoretically would be stable enough to deal with all the added bureaucracy. That would be the “inch” to give white youth frustrated about being deprioritized at large corporations. Unpaid citizen boards are a hallmark of the west. I’ve been on a few. Privatization of public infrastructure is definitely something to avoid and there are numerous historical arguments for that. Essentially citizens can be held hostage by an unelected corporate body. This is especially true in the case of healthcare and utilities. Private healthcare has it’s place, offering a higher degree of care and comfort for those who can afford it, but public healthcare should be equipped with the basics and offer dignity even to those who are not financially well off. There is a welfare mentality in many that is holding the country back, but employing these people shouldn’t mean risking one’s business going under if you offer them the job. Anyway, the kid is bright. A visit to China for a few years would be beneficial in understanding how to steadily alter unhealthy behaviors, but exclusively a South African exposure can be limited. Good luck!

Marshalltown is one of the safest places in Joburg. It’s pointless robbing someone there because you won’t get far.

Good solutions there Jude, but how will you solve the crime issue in jhb city
@JudeHattingh
@JudeHattingh 11 күн бұрын
High unemployment is a key driver of crime, and when people have fewer opportunities, it often leads to higher crime rates. Research shows that visible policing and building trust between officers and communities can really make a difference. The focus should be on training police to engage better with communities and tackling unemployment with more job opportunities and skills programs. This approach has worked in other countries, so it’s definitely something we can look into for JHB."

Kasi populations are growing at exponential rates. Can you imagine the population size of Alex in the next 5 to 10? Most people living in kasi was forcefully placed there by the apartheid government and eventually will need to be placed on proper land. Remember the apartheid government always gave black people the worst of the worst land to live on, sad that they are still stuck on that worst of the worst land called kasi today.

Yes many new neighbourhoods have to be built. Proper land has to be made available. Neighbourhoods with own town squares/ economic infrastructure, not labour dumping ground locations.

Some of us don't want anything that resembles apartheid, especially the art works, we need to expropriate the and get all those buildings under government so that everyone can have access, many cannot afford accomodation offered by private sector.

This boy is watching too much of Trump MAGA will not cut it here this is not America. We don't have DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity) that Trump's Fascist Government is abolishing. We have Affirmative Action. Both DEI and Affirmative Action are extremely effective tools in addressing past imbalances. In America, the DEI has been extremely effective in redressing the injustices of slavery because of ethical leadership. The same can happen here in Mzansi. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
