It’s a great project boat. I like to see classics restored. If you can do the work yourself, you will save thousands of dollars. With me, I can’t do things like this because I’m too busy. However, I believe we need to stop throwing things out. These are very nice boats. This is a labor of love.

Oh you can clean that up in no time with a rainbow vaccum cleaner . Use a spider web duster at the same time and a really good brush attachment .

That boat should be free! I paid $2k recently for a 1984 version of this exact boat. Turn key condition. Sure, it needs some work but it’s fully functional. I’d avoid this wreck like the plague!

I found many of these on the east coast, very few on the west coast. At 2 bucks a mile, even a free boat that is located hundreds or thousands of miles away are priced out of reach. What state are you in?

I would like to get bak working on the boat in the spring. I have the rebuilt carb done and ready to install. I have the heat exchanger removed as it needs serviced so I may need to fab up some pvc pipes to bypass it so we can fire the engine. It's too tall to bring inside my shop, it might be too wide too. . To yucky outside to work on it.

Hi Glenn, How are you going along with the restoration on this boat, I just purchase a 1982 Catalina and will like to shear info and progress with you.

What happened with this boat?

Good question. I still have it... I discovered how hard they are to work on all alone. Getting down below deck to work on the engine is tough only to have to get out to get tools or parts.. I need an assistant. This fall both my dad and father in law may start helping so we can go fishing some day...

Glenn's Speed Shop I have been looking at one myself that is for sale. I wondered if it was yours.

Glenn's Speed Shop I would first do a quick basic clean and trim refinish. Once it looks beautiful it's a whole lot more incentive to finish the mechanicals.

Glenn's Speed Shop fix the engine last. Seal the hull through. Clean it. Put an outboard on it temporarily.

Glenn's Speed Shop do do more with the engine than needed. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Too many boat owners make that mistake.
