That actually makes a little sense given that the PBA is, I don't know, stuck somewhat? Different tournaments, different formats, a season-long team competition.. what I really want to see is TV with multiple pairs going during a round-robin round. That would put more bowlers on TV and more exposure because only us diehard fans really see the great part of the tournament

I'd love to see them figure out a way to introduce a TV format that isn't just a 4 match stepladder!

Sure would like to see the professional bowlers compete for more money. That would certainly attract new talent. I know several outstanding bowlers who never gave the tour a shot, because they were already making over $150,00 annualy in their day jobs. However, I would only think that would be a good thing (more money) if it did not destroy the PBA in the process. However, I have no idea how to make it happen lol. 😂 Another great discussion Ben! Keep it up.
@TenPinLife2 жыл бұрын
Well the first step in making it happen is someone committing a billion dollar investment. Once we cross that bridge, we’ll look to step two.

The PBA would be obliterated by just 2% of the LIV prize pool. Belmo bowled his ass off and ended up making less than 50% of the minimum salary a that MLB, NHL, NFL or NBA player receives in a season.
@TenPinLife2 жыл бұрын
It sure would be interesting to see what would happen. I'm not sure what the non-MLB minimums are, but it's a fair comparison to think the best baseball players in the world are making 100x more than the best bowler in the world.
@emerald33312 жыл бұрын
PBA players would never be able to be in the same arena as major sports.

As long it doesn't conflict with the PBA season .. heck storm should have its own league to stick it to the USBC
@TenPinLife2 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing that anything like this would absolutely interfere with the PBA.

I don't know if you have as much of an incentive to win if you're guaranteed $$$. Anyway, this is very interesting and I think something like this can push bowling into bigger venues (arenas) so you can have seating for fans and make it more of a sporting event.
@TenPinLife2 жыл бұрын
That is something worth thinking about. Why don’t people go to live bowling events? Because the sight lines are not great most of the time. More money pushing bigger, better venues might provide a even more benefit that we realize.

Guaranteed money now that could never be made even over a very successful 35-40 year PBA career? 🤔
@TenPinLife2 жыл бұрын
You realize that Earl Anthony was one of the highest paid athletes in the world in the 70's, right? Payouts today, adjusted for inflation, are no where near what they were, let alone the volume of events that are even on the tour.
@remoevans78472 жыл бұрын
@@TenPinLife Yes, I was watching Mr. Anthony, Roth, etc every Saturday on ABC. We agree that there’s nowhere near as many tournaments/opportunities to win today. You do understand how that relates to my comment, right?

@@TenPinLife Guaranteed money now (up front) like with LIV Golf, the current guys could never make in 35-40 years on the PBA even if they had a successful career. Nothing to do with money now vs money back then on PBA. 😂 Guaranteed money versus having to win the money is a no brainer.
