I get on a similar rollercoaster when it comes to many Orphan Barrels. I have bought fewer than I have tried, and liked half of them half as well as they deserve (based on price and age). Do I want different flavors for special experiences? Absolutely. But do I want them at the almost $200 starting price for these when they are newly released, let alone what they go for on secondary a few years later? I don't think I can justify the pricing anymore.

Is it any wonder that bourbon prices are so high? You are making an argument for paying 5 times the asking price for 750 ml of whiskey that's OK.

Not making the case, but presenting options and opinions. At the end of the day it’s up to buyers to decide what they’ll pay, and free market economics works wonders. If the price it too high, things don’t sell.
