I was disappointed when you guys moved away from wild card Wednesdays and international whiskeys. So glad you guys are heading back into worldwide whiskeys!

Expanding and challenging your palate with other types of whisk(e)y keeps things fresh and new. Being whisk(e)y promiscuous is a good thing. Way to ease back into this series with a light, crisp, and fruity expression. Cheers!

We’re excited to incorporate these pours back into the rotation. Life is too short to limit one’s self to specific whisk(e)y types, right?

I’m primarily a scotch drinker these days. Would LOVE to see more of this from you guys! Love what Peter Fasciano, whiskey is a journey, is doing over there too. Haven’t tried this Glendiddich yet (I tend to stick to the 46% and higher stuff) but Glenlivet 12 Illicit Still is my go to budget scotch right now. Sitting on the shelf at my Costco for like $35 or $38 and it’s 48% with tons of full, rich flavor!

I just added this to my Total Wine curbside order. My son is 26 and we're been delving into American single malts. I love Bunnahabhain 12. He loves the Yellowstone ASM. I picked up a bottle of Town Branch, Bear Fight, UNBENDT and Bulleit ASM. Thanks for another fun video 🥃❤️🥃

Another great video. I love that you two are adding in American and international single malts into this series. I stepped away from single malts a few years ago and I’m just now getting back into them. Bourbon has and always will be my true love but I felt like I need to step back out of my comfort zone and I’m glad I have. When I get back home from work I will stop by Allocated-AK and pick up their barrel pick of Benromach 10 Speyside Single Malt Scotch which happens to be a cask strength coming in at 120.20 proof. I got to try this at the restaurant that is owned by one of the owners from Allocated-AK and it is out of this world phenomenal and it doesn’t even come close to drinking it’s proof. Plus I tried 2 other single malts they carry in the store that are amazing. Once again thanks for the awesome videos.

Great review. I prefer the less sweet Scotch whiskies and do enjoy a bit of peat. Rye and bourbons tend to taste two dimensional to me...until I blend them together 50/50! Bulleit Rye/WT 101 bourbon is one excellent example. Keep pouring!

There's a Glendfiddich 14 year fully aged in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 43% that's quite tasty. It's about $50 or so. There's a newer Glenfiddich 12 year finished in sherry barrels also bottled at 43%. I haven't tried that one yet though.

I can’t wait to see wild card Wednesdays and international whiskies. I’d love to see you do an American single malt blind. One thing I have an issue with Scotch and Irish whiskey is that coloring is allowed to be added to them.

The 12 Year Sherry cask is very good. I had the regular 12 yr and didn’t care for it. I actually just had a pour of that one last night. I am not a scotch drinker but I actually enjoy this one a lot. The 14 yr is very nice too. Neither one is expensive either. Cheers🥃🥃

This is the first bottle that I killed. I replaced it and it disappeared again. I figured there was something wrong with the bottling because my other whiskeys stayed pretty full but this one was always empty. A great beginner to intermediate whiskey.

Nice video! I’ve been interested in trying some entry level single malt, but like you said, I kind of assumed the shelfer 10 or 12 year offerings are like the Jim Beam white label of the bourbon world. For $70 and under, what do you recommend? Go with this Glenfiddich? Also…couldn’t agree more on the love for Whiskey is a Journey. Along with you guys, Peter is top notch!

If you’re looking for an intro single malt this would be a good choice for low proof. If you want some more proof, go for Glenlivet Illicit Still or go into Welsh single malts with Penderyn’s Madeira finished single malt. Getting to that 46% ABV brings a lot more flavor than 40%.

I do love a good BBQ and a drum circle by a big bonfire, so I figure go big or go home.... I already know I like bourbon more than Irish, but I love a good Irish coffee. The Classic Laddie is another one I'm contemplating.

Port Charlotte 10 year is a very good one. A mix of ex-bourbon and ex-wine barrels. One of my favorites. Price has gone up some, but still seems a good value relative to some other Islay peated single malts, especially with its 50% abv.

Hard not to recommend a good ex-bourbon maturation single malt like Arran 10, Glencadam 10, or Bunnahabhain 12 for lower cost and ABV offerings whereas Amrut cask strength or Bunnahabhain cask strength are great higher ABV examples.

@@stuffandwhiskey thanks for the recommendations. Traveling to South Carolina by car and wanted to stop at a few liquor stores in the Nashville and Knoxville area. Any ideas? Or should I go to a distillery to purchase something? Other than NBC, I plan to go there already based on both of yours love for it. 🌀🥃

But the 40/43% ABV are aimed at Scotch down market. You can get more punch and flavor at that price point.
@heatherharrison264

This is true. Many years ago, this type of Scotch was all that could easily be found. A lot of people get their start in Scotch with bottles like these. In my case, it was Glenlivet 18 that got me started on single malts, but I'm sure there are many people whose starting point was Glenfiddich 12. These basic whiskies serve a purpose, as they are beginner friendly and they can be useful as palate cleansers or warm-up pours. I have mostly moved away from these low strength, chill filtered whiskies, as I now find them rather thin and watery, though I always keep a couple around because they still have their uses. For about $20 more, a good variety of 46% or higher, non-chill filtered whiskies can be found, and at a somewhat higher price point, top quality cask strength whiskies can be found. They offer a greater concentration of flavor and more complexity, but many of them will be challenging for people who are new to single malts.

For sure. This is that “throw it in a rocks glass and enjoy on a hot summer day” in much the same way you might a good 90 proof bourbon (vs 43-46%+ ABV single malts or 100+ proof bourbons).
