It really is the people that make the country so beautiful!!!! I stayed in bangkok for 2 weeks for vaca and I realized HOW MUCH I loved thailand because of the people. They're sooooooooo nice and so polite, so sweet. I wanted to hug them all haha. The nicest people I've ever met are Thai. I want to go back and bring my family next time to see the beautiful country and the people. They're so welcoming. The second I arrived everybody was so welcoming and polite.

I enjoy interviews and this was a refreshing departure from the scruffy old-timers, retirees, and party boy types. I moved here full-time at 23 so can relate to much of Emily's story and observations. The details of daily life have changed over the decades but the overall feeling of living here seems to have remained fairly constant, listening to her story. Thailand is definitely a transient place and the longer you live here the less dependent you become on farang friendships, I find. She has made a good start and expect she will make it as long as I have. I am 70 now and still loving my life here in Thailand.🙏

OPAL, Fantastic! As a westerner, I loved the entire interaction between the two of you, you are a very good interviewer and I truly enjoyed hearing Emily's story! I was intrigued with her move, her acceptance of the culture and her perspective on westerners moving to Thailand. Great JOB!

That was a great interview Opal 😍 And I loved Emily's story. We came to Thailand in 2017 for our first time and have returned every year and intend to continue to do so. We love Bangkok and places that have that real Thai vibe 😍

I've been watching Emily's KZbin channel and have enjoyed the content and her interaction with Thai's in her videos, mainly because she speaks Thai so well. This was a really nice, relaxed interview, and it was interesting to hear her story and views on living in Thailand compared to the UK. I haven't yet made a full move to Thailand, but I definitely agree I always feel more at home in Thailand than in the UK.

That's really what sets us Asians apart from west. We are so closely knitted to our family, we see our parents grow up everyday and become more protective of them. We men like to be the head of the family, not in terms of controlling everything, but making sure everyone is happy and protected and safe. Hopefully this culture never changes

Pros and cons to everything. An Asian daughter will skip eating so her dad’s car is repaired. A western dad will walk to work so his daughter is fed.

Emily has great infectious energy and a positive outlook. Good luck to her. I'm glad she found happiness there. As anyone young though do ensure you make contributions to your future self by regularly investing. I don't know how people invest in Thailand but we have ways to invest in the UK through say vanguard with very low fees of around 0.2%. Beware of any companies selling investments in Thailand. Many are not legit and charge you extremely high fees practically eating up your investment initial capital and profits.

Opal, you have just found a new subscriber after watching one of The Roaming Cook’s vlogs earlier 😄 Good video girls I enjoyed listening to this. I have lived in Thailand since 2008 and the last 6 years in Buriram. The wife is a wonderful cook and I love Thai food. But 😂 One thing that frustrates me about my wife and other Thais is that they are not very willing to try other cuisines from around the world 😂 An example of my wife wanting to add fish sauce to an Indian curry I had cooked 😫

So.. Am I too old to go and live in Thailand?! It's definitely harder for older people to adapt.. But maybe if you wish it from the bottom of your heart and are 100% (like she said) focused and eager to learn, maybe it's possible ❤ I don't want to lose hope.. I'm 32 btw.. Lovely video❤ lovely girls❤ thank you for sharing!

Very interesting video! I’m British and taught English in China for 5 years and am considering teaching in Thailand! May you share groups in which I could find jobs please? Also is it easy to find jobs for foreigners apart from English teaching? My partner is Chinese and a photographer but would be fine doing any casual work. Hope to hear back! Thanks 😁

Interesting - working? Teaching, KZbinr, what. Working overseas does not contribute to her UK retirement pension. If she doesn't save up big $ in Thailand she won't have any pension when she turns 60 years old. When she turns 70 or 80, she won't have the ability to work - mentally or physically - won't have a drive to keep producing daily KZbin videos. While she's living a "dream", she will be in a big surprise when she turns 50 and learns she does not have much of a pension built up. I sincerely hope she will have made a ton of money in KZbin, invested wisely, and built a nice savings for her retirement years.
@Paulg51-735 ай бұрын
haha and there's one of the main differences between asian and western people right there at about two minutes in "how much did you save?" Westerners are very private about money, in general.

Living in Thailand for 10 years eh? ...how come you still even cannot get the tone right for 'Hello' in Thai ? ( 'kaa' the polite way to end sentences for a female, has a falling tone in this context, not a rising one .
@Emilysrichala.5 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for your comment. It’s emily 😊 even after living here for 10 years my tones are something I struggle with a lot, there’s always room to grow and learn so I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. Thanks for pointing it out. I guess you can speak thai fluent? Where are you from? 😊

Both of your parents are Vietnamese right? Are they born in Vietnam or America? Maybe if they were still in Vietnam they would be married

I do think its a bit pathetic that a countries most famous shop is a company from another country. Why is 7 eleven have no thai competition or is it just that foreigners are so naiive they inly shop and know 7 eleven. Australias no,different mcondals is the most seen shop and uber is the company driving people. But Thailand's neighburing countries have there own shops
@MNattorn6 ай бұрын
The company that controls 7-11 in Thailand is a global power. Almost every food you eat in there is produced by them. They basically owns 7-11 not the other way around. CP runs everything here. If you are here long enough you’ll know who’s the final boss. 7-11 is just a small pawn to them.
@arsenal_845 ай бұрын
The amount of 7-11 near most condo are just insane in the streets of Bangkok. In the city suburbs, there are too many 7-11.
