If you ever find yourself stuck in a potentially lethal altercation, many things can go wrong. Even if you did the right thing, without any evidence, you could be SOL. And the "He said, he said" argument may not cut it.
One of our fellow Warriors, Mike from Tallahassee, has a few choice words for (most) handgun owners out there, and a tip that could save you time and hassle, or even worse... a court date, in case you find yourself in the middle of an active shooter or violent scenario, where you may have to deploy your concealed carry firearm.
Thanks Mike for your tip! :-)

Adding Video and/or Audio is a good idea, however, investigate the laws regarding recording another person in your State first. Some States require notice to be given to the other person that they are being Video and/or Audio recorded.

Always good advice to check on state and local laws for anything. This is one of the reasons why I like this police officer's use of a passive recording device because it's not "targeted" at any one person. The same way that a Ring doorbell camera can be added as evidence because it's not like you're picking up a phone and recording someone without their permission. I've purchased one of these systems for my truck. Now if I could just understand the damn instructions I think I'll be all set! :-). Well... that and get the damn clock on my VCR to stop flashing 00:00! :-)

Look dash cams and body cams can be great however I have had 7 different types of cameras in my vehicle that just died from heat building up in the vehicle, as for body cams they will only run 5 minutes then shut off instead of running a continuous loop! Any cams that I have discovered that will stand up to the heat in your vehicle or continue to record in a loop are only available for Law enforcement or cost more than I make each month. Also regular vehicles don't have separate batteries to run the dash cams off of! So if someone bumps your vehicle that will kill your startup battery for the vehicle

Because I live in Florida, the overheating was one of my biggest concerns also Robert. I ordered one from a company called Rexing that claims it uses a "supercapacitor" that allows the camera to withstand temperatures up to 176 degrees. Fingers crossed!

@@Warrior 6 months BTW there is nothing called a super capacitor in electronics. I already had that one it died in less than 6 months. Here in NC it gets hot enough inside to fry eggs on the dash. At least FL has a slight cooling effect if you are on the peninsula?

If you've not already done so, please go to lawofselfdefense.com/elements and download a totally free cheat sheet showing five (5) elements that must be totally satisfied to have some reasonable hope of being able to invoke a claim of self-defense. Folks don't understand that manipulating a firearm is the easiest piece of an extraordinarily complex puzzle. A carry permit neither invites nor allows you to become LEO, judge, jury, and executioner. Justice may very well be totally excluded from a Legal system that is not your friend or personal ally. Do whatever it takes to avoid violence. If you voluntarily engage in and survive a deadly force encounter, the life you previously lived will end due to the the catastrophic emotional, financial, and legal implications of your actions. The most skilled Warriors continue to live well by making sure they and their loved ones know how to avoid, deter, escape and evade violence in any form. The only fight truly won is the one that is totally avoided.

I ended up getting the Rexing DashCam V1P Brikrat. One of the reasons I chose it because it's supposed to stand up to high heat temperatures in my vehicle here in Florida (one of the problem issues apparently with these devices). So far so good. :-)

So true Johnny Crumpton. Even what you say on the phone with 911 is all recorded and what you say is all discoverable in a trial. There are however some ways to use this to your advantage. Think about what CAN be said (and recorded) that would work in your favor in court. Thanks for commenting.

@@MrJacobmetcalf Are you trained with how to fire guns or to assess a situation, how many other assailants may be around that haven't shown themselves, If there are potential dangers to the public, Safety hazards that might cause more damage, to take clear mental picture of the environment so you can describe it later for a report, judge thr distance the threat is from you and how quickly they can close the gap, all potential exits that can be used, assess if anyone has been injured and how to call for assistance, know how to protect yourself from injury and making a situation worse, how to cordone off an area instead of rushing in, know if the obvious assailant is actually a threat or just another person responding to the situation, Most importantly, when not to act? People who carry concealed outta have a badge that they can show to Cops when they are involved in the use of their gun. Have it the size of a card with a yellow background with a large black circle in the middle or something like that. It is risky to pull out your gun thinking you are going to shoot all the rounds in your 'Wonder Nine' without realizing that the Cops may mistake you for a bad guy and the thugs may be able to shoot you while all your attention is focused on the thug you are shooting. Best to get off 2-3 shots and get behind cover shooting again only if needed. Some moron told me that we have the duty to save all them that do not have guns by standing there and blasting away at the bad guy(s). What say you to that??
@Warrior
@Warrior 2 жыл бұрын
Ugh! I don't think there's anything you can say to someone who sees it as their "duty" to run into every situation to save people. Best just to walk away. They've obviously got a hero's film going through their brain about the outcome and haven't fully considered the unintended consequences that can happen. I'd love to see the look on your face when he told you THAT! :-)

what's the point of having guns for self defense if youre not allowed to use them?
@Warrior
@Warrior 2 жыл бұрын
"Not allowed" probably isn't the right term echoven. Of course, if it's truly an unavoidable life-or-death situation and you're legally armed, you have every right (aka legal "allowance") to use it to defend yourself. But too many gun owners 1) think they'll just whip out their Master Blaster 5000 and start shooting, when in reality, putting holes in another human being is a giant mental leap for most people unless you've done it before; and 2) the post-shooting can be a long road of fights in court and in your own head. I know because I've been there and I know guys who've been there. It's not like the movies and it's NOT for the average civilian gun-owner. You never know what left turn will happen in any attack and the unintended consequences can ruin your life and your family forever. I'm not saying "don't fight" or "don't use your gun". But if someone can avoid a fight and just be a good witness, you may have avoided that left turn in your life, you know? Most people don't get enough training to be as skilled as they think they will in a real attack. As the Greek poet Archilochus said, "We don't rise to the level of our expectation. We fall to the level of our training." Wise words indeed, eh?

If the majority of citizens were armed and trained, able to take care of themselves and their loved ones, would we even need the police?

The key word there 3nertia is "trained". Most gun owners are just that - gun "owners". Like it's a magic talisman against evil. The people who go through the concealed carry classes I've taken ALL scare the living sh*t out of me that they even HAVE guns! Know what I mean?
