This takes me back to 2011/2012 in the heart of the RepRap movement as we discussed doing this and some had great success while other did not. ABS was a real hit or miss with this technique but PLA, being a sugar cane derivative, stuck very well. Some people, at the time, complained they did get ants on their machine if they left it sitting for a few days.

Everyone!.. Please remember that the water droplets you see following the "first wipe" disappear and form a SMOOTH flat sticky surface when this procedure is followed as shown. Also, one sugar application lasts for more than one print! You can do several prints before another sugar wipe is required.

Thank you so much for this video! I have tried everything else (probably) to make my CTC Bizer Dual print without a raft and finally something that works. I don't use a glass tile (yet), but it works very well on the normal painters tape.

You could also try using soda pop that has sugar in it

Can you make a larger batch of this and put it in a jar instead of making small batches all the time?
@mysimplefix6 жыл бұрын
The reason I made the mix so small was because it went such a long way. Because the mixture is so concentrated, at larger volumes if left in a container I wonder if the sugar mix might recrystalize over time? Someone needs to test it out.

Is this glass borosilicate?... Or glass like for window?...
@mysimplefix4 жыл бұрын
The CR-10s that I'm using has a glass plate (supplied with the printer).

Lo probare! Buen video. Una solucion bastante economica (muy economica en realidad) frente a los costosos (por lo menos en Argentina) lacas y demas adhesivos que se utilizan sobre la cama caliente! Gracias!

Very interesting! I'm gonna have to try this. Just one question. Have you encased any ants yet? Jk. But, seriously, I am gonna try it. Thanks for posting!
@mysimplefix6 жыл бұрын
No ants. Super easy to wipe off with a moist cloth if they did ever appear.

Thin layer of PVA WHITE GLUE just ok for me. Just wet it with isopropyl alcohol 70% content for next print. Bed 50, nozzle 210.

At least, the bed will kill them, so you can eat them afterwards.

The print sticks to the sugar because its surface is far rougher than glass no need to invented magic sugar caramelisation transitions!
