I'm biased as I've had a Defender 90 for years and really wanted to hate the new Defender, but I really can't. In terms of evolution this is honestly a proper evolution with a sensitive homage to the originals. I'll wait for the Defender 90 on steel wheels as this is too expensive to take anywhere near a bush. Super review btw.

Sarah, you may not response to this, but here is my 0.02 on the Land Rover Defender. I was involved in the Overlanding community for awhile and the impression I was left with was if you had the cash for a Land Rover, you could buy a Land Cruiser that was superior in reliability and just as capable off the road. I've seen Land Rovers die on the trail or break. Reliability is key in overlanding and this is where the Toyota rank about the rest of the holy trinity of Off-Roaders (Land Rover, Jeep, and Toyota). While the new LR-D is cool and while designed, its terrible reliability rules it out for anything but limited off-road use. I would not trust where the pavement ends and the city-lights fade. That the dark territory of the almighty Land Cruiser...the one to rule them all. So Say We All. Cheers Sarah! Excellent video has always. You are the queen.

Sarah, I own a Range Rover Sport and in the variety of weather conditions I have experienced, those pre-programmed modes are quite helpful. I used to 4X in my Toyota SR5 when I lived in Phoenix but have also driven across snowed in mountain passes, sand, rock, mud, and shallow rivers in my RRS. LR/RR knows a thing or 2 about off-roading.

Having watched a lot of British car-youtubers, I'd say that the shelf on the dashborad is probably the where you put your tea-cups! Very essential in any British car, it seems ;) Also - a proper off-roader like this is so much cooler than those suv/crossovers that people are so fond of right now.

Great review, Sarah. You brought up an excellent point, in that you don't see to many of the Land Rovers. The reason for that is because they're super expensive and horribly unreliable!
