I'd buy it! I love the interior helm, perfect for cruising colder climes. The "baby stay" stabilizes the center portion of the mast to mitigate buckling, the same as multiple guy wires on tall communication towers. Mold: Install a SMALL, full-time dehumidifier, eradicate mold with bleach, dry all areas, install humidity detection paper, button it up for a month, recheck paper, seal leaks, repeat mold eradication in areas detected, and press on.

Great comment. One challenge. I prefer vinegar to bleach for mold eradication. I find bleach does more damage than vinegar.

Nice old luxury yacht. The long list of expensive updated hardware is both bait and a warning. The only thing that surprised me was how small the holding tanks were. 38 gallons is not a lot of luxury living for even 4. I guess discharge rules have gotten more stringent since this was designed.

I was just on the hard right next to that vessel. Paint needs some work but otherwise a beautiful vessel. Very jelly. It has a cult following, but the general sailor population won't pay that much for this...

No that is not the mast but a "sock" to prevent water running down the mast in to the bilge.

Why do most boats have the boring Euro layout? Hallberg Rassy owns this segment, and yearly bumps prices $100k because they can...I guess most boat makers target the Med/Carribean market, so blue water layouts out of fashion...bummer. This is a great design.

If not for the build and material quality this vessel would be trash. It's obvious it hasn't been maintained for some time. She needs a lot of work and money to bring her to proud form.

Babystay needs furler. Cheap make mainsail . SS Arch, cheap and built as an afterthought. Single bunks are crazy. Better in prison. Should be workshop area. Moisture issues😢 just unimportant!!!! You like a lot so you keep saying. Buy it. Engine access not very good. Aft cabin fibreglass return should have been cut out to have one large or two small windows. Old boat anc tired but must reflective in the price. Homeport ? Mayland? Flag? I noticed an old HR49 next to her. For sale too? Year 1992 245.000, open to offers? What was the major 2022 refit???

Exactly why I said in the video the current asking price is a bit overpriced IMHO given the work needed to fix the moisture issues. However, that being said, this is still one of the most affordable Oysters of this size you can get on the market as I write this.

Depends on the moisture issue but there's a lot of upgrades and it looks well kept. If it doesn't have it, it will need a bow thruster. Lovely 😍 boat.

It's a great $200K boat! Buy this old mess for $100K. Dump $100K into the necessary and unnecessary upgrades and you will have a very nice $200K boat. Maybe flip it in pristine condition for $210K? If you're lucky. Make $10K for a year of hard work? Maybe? Welcome to sailing! Good luck and fair winds!

Every so often this channel comes up in my feed, and I always wonder the same thing. Who is this guy? What are his credentials in sailboats/cruisers? Has he ever owned a big cruiser? Has he ever cruised offshore/long distance? Why should his opinions be listened to? His comment on good engine access was ridiculous. It's a 50' boat with the engine stuffed into the bilge, that is not good access on a 50 footer. I could probably tear apart other stuff but can't be arsed. Suffice to say, having a KZbin channel doesn't make you an expert in anything.
@iverburl
@iverburl 4 ай бұрын
They do not claim to be experts; quite the opposite. Hence the channel name. They have only been at this a few years. The early videos were sometimes wince-inducing. It has been interesting to watch their progress.
@patrickfitzoot

@iverburl so maybe instead of walking around boats making inane commentary, they should bring someone along who knows stuff, because after a few years in, it's not clear if much, or anything, has been learnt.
@thx1168
@thx1168 3 ай бұрын
Holy shit you are overthinking it, man. It's just a guy and a dream like all of us, but he's doing the footwork so we can see boats that we would otherwise not see. I'm glad you can't be "arsed". If you have more interest in a boat you see that comes up in your feed, then pursue it. If not, don't click.
