The 2020 BMW X5 M Competition brandishes 617 horsepower. That’s enough ponies to rocket this machine to 60 mph in as little as 3.7 seconds. Is that bonkers enough for you? It should be.

OK I will bite. Why can't you drive this vehicle for your video? Can't social distance with 617 horses?

As someone who is leasing a 2018 X5M and reads forums the BMW V8 is not something that ages well, especially the original version in the 2000’s. They’re honed it over the years but they still drink oil and struggle to get to 100k miles without major work. Great engine and power, but I would never own a BMW with the V8

Alex Graham My X5 is the straight 6, it’s crazy reliable for what it is, 17 years old, original owner and never plan to sell it, treat it well they treat you well, the V8 is another story but straight 6 are great

I have a 2018 X5M and it’s a great all-round vehicle. The problem with them is the gearbox tends to grenade or need replacing at 50k miles and with the newer ones having even more power I would be curious if they’ve addressed the power train reliability. Other thing to note with the new version is they added Adaptive Cruise Control, before it wasn’t even an option.

I love X5. I am probably old now, but I prefer the straight six engine in base X5. Plenty fast enough for normal living and smooth bread and butter BMW engine.

We sold our 2018 x5m after a year. We just loved the car. It was our 3rd x5. We hated it burning engine oil 1 qt a month! No kidding. Lost almost $50k from the new price. Yes, we drove it very gently 99% of time...

Great car , the only downside is that since it has more tech and stuff many things could go wrong or faulty and you will be looking for expensive repair,it would be good if they make thier cars more durable.

The X5M has all what you mentioned, except a track mode which gets you the extra 17hp from a tune. The M has the same exhaust, seats, brakes, wheels, trans, torque etc as the M comp. I own one. Do your homework buddy.

Anyone who buys (not leases) this monster and plans on keeping it long term better plan on having DEEP pockets ! Generally speaking , all BMW’s as they age (5+ years) and 50k miles will BANKRUPT you faster then you can blink !! And this M high performance version will be super expensive to maintain and fix when crap breaks down ... and it will !! In July 2018, i bought a 2013 X5 which I mistakenly bought with 94k miles. I Was excited since i never owned an SUV; It looked in Mint condition, White with Black leather interior and drove beautifully.... Felt solid and well built. My mistake for not doing some research on BMW dependability as they age with high mileage. Within 8 LONG months, i sunk nearly $2,500 into it and thats with a “bumper to bumper” extended warranty w. A $75/hr labor fee covered. Front end suspension work, leaking rear Differential and a frozen passenger door lock (bad actuator, door was frozen shut). After nearly 1 month, I couldn’t sell it privately and took a major loss by trading it in for only $10,200. (The first dealer i went too offered me only $8k !!). After speaking to the The mgr. at the dealership (Lexus of Queens, NY) regarding their lowball $8k offer he even told me he had a similar nightmare experience with owning one years ago, he told me after 50k miles get rid of it !! Talk about hearing it straight from the horses mouth !! That night when I left that dealership I was determined to get rid off it ! And then I found another ES350, same Starfire Pearl (white) metallic at a local Volvo Dealership in NJ with only a hair over 30k miles... 1 owner.. In April 2019, I made the best car buying decision by trading in that piece of crap X5 for my 2013 Lexus ES350 with only 30,009 miles !! Original owner averaged 4,300 miles/yr. (They took ownership in Summer of 2012). They traded in as part of a 2 car trade in deal to a local Volvo Dealership along with a high mileage BMW (of all cars!) ... My ES350 is flawless, solid like a tank and quiet like a vault! Still drives like its new ! And now with only 36k miles and Lexus’s (Toyota) highest dependability/reliability of any car/truck on the road this one will be with me for 10+ years !!

I never like to see someone lose money but you bought a 5 year old vehicle with close to 100k miles, what did you expect? The previous owners drove it into the ground, probably did minimal maintenance and then sold it for the next sucker to be wowed by the badge and pick up the maintenance tab. I wouldn’t buy any ‘luxury’ vehicle with over ~50k miles on it, especially not without a full inspection, and not from a used dealer who probably bought it from auction.

I bet the electronic and computer engineers feel left out because nobody ever says "the engineers" whenever they speak about the interior and infotainment system but whenever a car reviewer opens the bonnet/hood, they go ahead and start saying "the engineers" - obviously referring to the mechanical engineers of the company.

Good review of a shitty car. If I want to go fast (Autobahn greetings from Germany) I don't take that tank, I wouldn't go bigger than a 3 series (even that is to gig for a real sports car). And if I want to go offroad I would take a real truck or a Suzuki Jimny. If I want to bring my family around I would chose a van or a wagon. But if I had problems with my masculinity I would chose that thing. Like I always say, BMW driving is like wearing a penis prosthesis.
