Another proof how great the Iridium is. I have one and I'm pretty confident that I've found my amp for life. It's feature loaded but not too overly complicated, utterly compact, built like a freaking tank (no other amp would have survived what miserable my Iridum endured so far) and soundwise it stands on equal terms with my most favorite big tube amps (Revv Generators Purple Channel, ENGL Fireball, Orange Rockerverb, Peavey 5150, Victory Kraken or JCM800). If you are into metal you can't possible go wrong with the Iridium. The value for money is totally insane.

Wow that was amazing!. I owned a dual rec 100 watt solo head from the early 2000s. I had to regretfully sell it to pay bills a while back. No amp I've had since has filled that void until I discovered the iridium amp!. The red channel of the dual rec has a certain mojo to it I didn't think any other amp could have....the modern setting of the iridium is spot on to having the same sound and feel!...I love this thing

@@Niilz Downstrokes are absolutely addictive to me... They are so powerfull and direct, it really changes a tune. I play lots of "Deutschpunk" (Hosen, Ärzte, Pascow usw) and 80s Heavy Metal and it is just amazing what muted downstrokes can achieve in a song. It's hard to master them for a smooth gig, but it SO pays off...

@@BluGuitar Yes I see. I have not played live for 10 years, I just play for fun after working or when I am at home. I think this amp fit my needs perfectly. I checked this Idirium and ME version and feel a little bit confuse. I only play some rock ballad and heavy metal (from Gary Moore, Ozzy to Nevermore, Symphy X stuffs. And I never play Djenty or deathcore stuffs), which version will suite me better? I cant demo any of your amp at my country, so your advice is very important factor for me. Thanks

For a decision let’s analyze a few aspects: Pickups: In my opinion the AMP1 Mercury Edition is best for single coil guitars and vintage style humbuckers with rather lo output…. For hi output pickups I would recommend the AMP1 iridium edition. Overall tone: Mercury Edition is best for traditional Tones from Jazz to HardRock, Iridium from 80‘s hair Metal to modern Metal. Of corse both amps can do more that just one direction, I always recommend that you should play both to see which one fits best for your personal style. Try them out like a pair of shoes and you „feel it“ immediately…;-)

FYI: Generator 40-7 distortion channel is based on the RED channel of old Generator 120, not on the PURPLE channel. Nice comparison. I really like both Iridium and Mercury edition, great and versatile amps. Looking forward the Amp X :-)

great comparison as usually.... what i would be very interested in would be a comparison to an Orange (Rockerverb e.g.)... as this -as i would imagine- could be a task the amp1 couldn't "mimic" because of the (to my ears) rather special gainstructure of the Oranges. But obviously I might be wrong!

Ich besitze ja selbst einen originalen 1957 Tweed deluxe. Toller Amp! Mit dem Mercury kommst Du schon in die Richtung, allerdings ist gerade der speaker und das Gehäuse des Tweed deluxe sehr geil, und vor allem Charakter gebend. An einer Box in diese Richtung forsche ich auch gerade. Ich würde dir empfehlen unseren AMP1 mit Nanocab mal zu probieren... Für Recording wäre da noch die BluBOX, bei der der speaker meines Tweed deluxe drin ist: Tweed 1x12 (einer meiner Favoriten der BluBOX) Wenn es das noch nicht für dich ist... werden wir in Zukunft bestimmt noch mal interessantes für Dich haben...;-)

I have a Fryette PS2 Reactive Load…Could you run the Amp 1 into the Fryette like a typical tube head?….I love the Classic channel on the Irridium..it’s like the best 800 sound ever..

Yes, you can do that. On the other hand you can also use AMP1 with no load. Depending on the „reactive curve“ it will sound different. You have both options… ;-)

I would love an improved Mercury edition, with just the Modern Channel improved and sounding like the one in Iridium. Because I could not live without the really nice vintage tones of the Mercury, and they are not the same on the Iridium. But I would like that modern channel to be more aligned with what you have on the Iridium version. Just an idea :)

i was in search for a new high gain amp , i was ready to order one from a german brand but i wasn't sure from what I heard from the videos in youtube at the same price with iridium from thomann . It was good and impressive but the sound wasn t what i had in mind, either it was too much of something or it lacked something . Today as I was thinking my choices and the other amps I looked and i wasn t satisfied my eyes went to the blubox I use and I remembered the amp1 iridium , I remember how I fascinated i was with its colors when it came out but back then I wasn t searching for an amp and I hadn t heard any of it. This happened today and from the moment I heard it I was sure 100% that I liked its sound , so after 3 months of exhausting searching I found my new amp and i ordered it . The sound I had in my mind.

Böah... Alsö der Iridiüm steckt halt die anderen Amps einfach in die Tasche, wenn man aüch nür einen HAUCH von Zeit investiert. Pünkt! Und das alles zu einem BRUCHTEIL des Preises, wesentlich handlicher und wartungsfreier. Und so einfach zu bedienen, ein Traum. Mein Helix Stomp und der Amp 1 Mercury sind ein absolutes Dreamteam. DAs wäre beim Iridium sicher nicht anders... Einfach ein ganz ganz tolles Konzept, mit einem supertollen Erfinder, der einfach weiß, was ER macht und sich gut vorstellen kann, was ANDERE gerne hätten. that iridium totally crushes the metal tones. The side by side comparisons with 4 of the ''heavy hitters" of the genre was a testament to how incredible the iridium is and its lighter, more compact, more affordable than the above tube amps(as great as they are) Heres something to ponder, if the Iridium is that good, imagine what the AMP X is gonna be like, I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!!!

Da wird’s schwierig(er) - sehr ähnlich kann er klingen, aber die Mesa Mark Kisten sind schon sehr weit weg vom typischen „modded Marshall Print“. Man kommt schon sehr nahe an die typischen Petrucci und Lamb of God Sounds ran, mit dem Iridium, aber nicht so mal eben ohne weitere Pedale an die Mark I und Lonestar Clean („Fat“) Sounds, würde ich mal schätzen... Das könnten wir aber mal versuchen, bei Thomas nächstem Besuch in Hamburg. ;-)

(Man hört auf beiden Alben, viele modifizierte Marshall Amp Modelle und anderes esoterisches Zeug im Mix mit Mesa Boogie Verstärkern.) Das kann der Iridium gut genug und auch der Mercury.

It depends on the amps and settings… but I’ve been through some blindfold A/B testings where very experienced players choose the wrong amp (AMP1) as the „real deal tube amp“… so it’s at least very close…;-)

Use the send into your Effects device and the stereo outs of the device into 2 amps. That’s doing the job! If you want your effects mixed on top of the dry signal-> use parallel mode: that’s available on the AMP1 with that switch on the side …;-)

Wow, So you are saying that with the tube in the power stage according to your design, you don't need to have a tube preamp stage, and if you did have a tube in the preamp stage, the results will be the same as not having a tube in both preamp and poweramp?🤔

I Did that in a studio in Nashville recently. My therory was, with amp ones preamp stage being digital; I always noticed you sound compare videos, that everything was there but there was a little bit of umf missing to make it identical. So i remembered using MARTY FREEMANS TUBE PREAMP PEDAL in front of my VST AMPS and it brought all the life and articulation, etc. .... So in Nashville I had accesd to an AMP1 and a cheap but very good ART MP tube mic preamp. I ran the guitar into the ART MP, then wah wah, then into the AMP1 and there was a sparkle and a bit more umf to the top end. .I would love to see you test on that and hear your thoughts. Cheers 🍻

Hi Thomas from Australia thanks for your amp so much options do with your mercury amp1 I run two other pedal like gurus comp & dd deck drive most time it overdrive on amp 1 dd deck just mix up things it got fx loop on it I run two amp 1 wet dry wet I am using victory the duchess too . Like have fender vox vox as x Sample . Most it just amp1 +1 not 3 on . Play prs in to other guitars . Just just two amp 1 strymon delay it was Heaven to me with my prs Special sem/hollow 3 pickup I was get Gilmore feel sound it not 100% but goog enough You get beautiful clean ch 1 an Marshall side drop gain . Thanks thank for design it if I lost or stolen from me go out buy other two just one start off It cool you come out with x amp . I mite look that .
