Awesome video, I had to try it because this is a great idea. Unfortunately I notice a subtle difference in audio quality between the audio streamed through session wire and native audio. I tried for awhile to match all of the levels and tested different sources but always came to the same conclusion. If you anyone thinks I could be missing something let me know. I would love for this to be viable.

The advantage of a separate reference plugin is that it can automatically volume match for you....a very important facility which this method doesn't have.

On Tidal, it won't work if there isn't a track on my reference Cue track. It plays the streaming service (not whichever track is there), but it seems like the volume stops as soon as there's not waveform in there.... It didn't work for me for a while, but I figured it out. In the control room, your top part is called "Cue Streaming". This should be turned on, and you should set your blue button to "Cues". Mine was off, and then set on MIX...so there was no output. Also, on Tidal, I had to go to "More settings" beside the "From SW"....and ask it to keep it as MAX VOLUME...otherwise it was stopping after a second. After I did this, I had to restart Tidal. Anyways, it was a bit of troubleshooting for one hour, but the result is pretty awesome, merci encore Chris!!

What a fantastic Video and although could have been complex, you made it so easy to follow ! This will enable me to get a snippet of a song to reference in LANDR and Ozone which I have been wondering how to do!! One thing I couldn't get working out of the whole Video was playing back the Audio you recorded and hearing it but I am sure I will work it out. I can monitor the recording perfectly but when I click to play it back it is silent but probably something I am doing that can be easily rectified. thanks again !! your Videos are awesome and SO helpful since I came across from Logic.

It was a huge step up for my work flow, when you did the video about control room cue mix. I wasn't familiar with Sessionwire but definitely going to check it out. It'll be another layer of mix referencing 😉👍 I've never had an instance where I made use of the SOLO DEFEAT function. Now it makes sense ......thanks again😉

Great video Chris! I've been watching both videos regarding SW but still don't understand how to set up the cubase track to print the Spotify sound. I've just managed to set up streaming though one channel, but want to be able to get that sound to the input of a track to record it.
@autobapt9 ай бұрын
I managed to do the routing in my audio interface. I set the output of the streaming track to main out and routed the main out to an input in my Antelope Matrix, then created a receive track in Cubase to record on.

I have two Cues 1=Artist and 2=Reference which I set up just as you do. The solo defeat though is an excellent tip.
@mixdownonline9 ай бұрын
You can also use only one Cue Mix and use Track Versions to play several Mix References on the same track :)
@sunpointstudio44729 ай бұрын
@@mixdownonline My Artist cue is dedicated for when I'm recording with mics. On my reference cue I do indeed use track versions for multiple references as you mention. (Perhaps my original post was confusing. I didn't mean I have two separate reference cues.) Keep up the good videos I'm a fan as well as a fan of Dom.

I've been this approach for a while but always run out of cue mixes! I use flac/wav files for referencing though, great idea to set my music database up through sessionwire though. Then I can keep the cue sends for demo/mix/master versions!
@mixdownonline9 ай бұрын
Instead of using several Cues, use Track Versions to load several references on the same track :-)

@@mixdownonline Thanks for the tip! Two clicks instead of one, but project looks far more organised!

@@mixdownonlineGreat video Chris. Yes, I use track versions for numerous reference tracks too. To record them from my streaming service I just create an Ext1 channel from audio inputs (the classic way!) but always disable ext1 unrecorded to avoid possible speaker damaging feedback when you sometimes (for different uses) change output to stereo out and forgot to disable ext1 input!
@DamjanPrvulovic26 күн бұрын
The problem I have with this approach is that the "big" Control Room Meter is not responding to the reference track i.e. it only shows the signal level from the "Mix". Referencing Loudness and dbFS is not possible this way. Is there any solution to this?
