i just read twisted hate and i SEARCHED for your video on it because i had SO MANY THOUGHTS. basically loved the first 2/3 of it and then the plot went completely off the rails - unfortunately i really hated the way it played out, especially because i felt like one character had almost all of the blame placed on them, while the other one (who i felt was actually more in the wrong) basically got off with no consequences. it was super disappointing as i ended up DNFing it with only like 20 pages to go. it was just too infuriating.

Romance books are definitely hit or miss for me. I need to like the characters and either feel like the romance is swoony or hot to be invested. Sorry you didn't enjoy these all that much but the vlog was fun to watch.

I think a good way to put how I felt about twisted hate was this: throughout the book, I found myself being more excited and enticed by Stella and Christians story and the impending release of twisted lies than I was captivated by the actual story unfolding in twisted hate

So excited to see you reading Sophie Lark! I've come to really enjoy her books, slowly making my way through her backlist. I didn't really Iike the Heir and the Rebel was also kinda rough for me, however, something about the Bully and the Spy completely drew me in, to the point where I was reading the books during some of my uni lectures 😅😂 I'm also really enjoying her Brutal Birthright series ☺️

@moodyfloral62342 жыл бұрын
With Sophie Lark, after having read both the Brutal Birthright and Kingmakers series, I feel like I always love the world and the plot more than the romances. She writes these very spicy romances but to me the deeper feeling is often lacking, it is never this deep, epic, swoon-worthy love story. I haven’t read her newest few releases (the serial killer duet and the fifth Kingmakers) because I felt like that with every publication, the romances kept getting less romantic. I’m not sure I’ll be picking up her books in the future sadly.

The Rebel was not my favorite. The only thing that kept me reading was because I was connected to the two main characters from reading the previous series. Wait until you get to the rest of the books. The Bully was my absolute favorite.

I think it'd be interesting to see whether you also enjoy these 😃

I am glad I dnf it. I just didn't feel chemistry between the 2. And I knew were the book was going. In regards to the lie. I did look at the last 100 pages and I was definitely right about where it was going. The second book was my favorite. And I am not going to continue with the last book. Because I don't really like the main guy for the last book.

@@dharabarot4033 I think the reason I loved the second one was because of the theme of it. I love bodyguard books. I think it really depends thou on what it was in the first book that made you dnf the book. Was it the characters, the writing, or something else that made you decide to dnf the book.

Me and you, As the years, pass I have way more misses than hits. Making me go into longer books slumps, I have re-read Suzanne wright's The Phoenix Pack Series and The dark in you series (all on audible). True fun bad boy meets his match series. Have you read any of her books? She is a UK author. I would also look into soaring by Kristen Ashely or the will (thank god for audible LOL). Personally, Sophia lark is a miss for me. Which makes me SAD. I only read the brutal prince It didn't feel like mafia more like a political wealthy family romance. I did not buy into the male lead and the female lead annoyed me (I wanted to get behind her attics but it seemed immature and useless). The male character was forgettable. I ended up DNF'ing it cause I got bored. I did not feel the romance, the smut is *there* but does nothing. I am looking forward to more of your reviews on sophia lark.

I think you said perfectly everything I’m currently disliking about Twisted Hate, I also DNF’d Twisted Love so it’s really my fault lol. But it’s like the sex scenes would be so much hotter if everything else clicked together and I just don’t feel that. Which is awesome because I spent $30 to get back KU 🤡

I tried reading twisted love and I didn’t like it at all. i dnfed it, it felt caricaturish and the characters didn’t feel real, their motivations and personalities didn’t feel real. But what pushed me to dnf is how awful and toxic Jules is, doesn’t help that Ava is a pushover. I know this is old but I've only just found your page, so I'm watching all your reading vlogs now and subscribed. Anyways, I always thought it was strange that people are super interested in like reading romance books and then reading the kids of that couples romance books and excited about knowing the lineage. Not yucking anyone's yum, it's just odd to me. Because if I knew a couple in real life and I was super rooting for them to get together and stuff and they did and then had kids, when those kids came of age I wouldn't also being super interested and invested on who the kids were fucking. that's kind of creepy. Maybe its not creepy because its books, but when I read books those characters are my friends for the time the book lasts, and so it just seems a little weird to be invested in who my girlfriends kid is now fucking. is it just me?

nah that's valid i'm mostly the same way. i didn't read the books about the parents which is probably why i didn't care in this vlog

Why is there a public execution? ....I don't know, because I haven't read it, but..to me, that does sound like something the mafia at least _might_ do? (Making an example of someone-brutally.😅) 👀 Now I kinda want cookies, but the only Cookies I have is one of my kitties, so maybe I'll go snuggle her now instead. 😘 🤣🤣 I don't know why, but I always enjoy hearing people actually articulate what they don't dig in books too[ rather than just being like "it was awful"/"I hated it"..even though, sometimes a person really can just not like a book even without having an especially articulate or specific reason why, and that's totally okay too..I just feel like that doesn't give me as much food for thought to hear and I'm kind of a ho for all that food-for-thought, I guess, if that makes sense]. So I really appreciate that you don't shy away from sharing your thoughts even on books you didn't enjoy as well as you enjoy others[ and I really like that you're open with how sometimes internal psychological shite can be a really big factor and really mess with someone's ability to get into things too..that makes me feel a little less alone right now because I think that's really been one of my biggest struggles myself trying to get back into reading again these days too..like I love-love *love* it when I get there, in that reading zone - there's nothing else quite like it for me, but actually getting there lately has been such a struggle sometimes because of other stuff going on at the moment and oftentimes for reasons not having a thing to do with anything except what's going on up in my own head..and I know this isn't your first time touching on how your mental or emotional state can really affect things sometimes before, but this was just the time when for some reason it really hit home for me personally, just how appreciative I am to see that aspect about you..if that's not too weird of me to say]; although, of course, it's always a bummer when a book doesn't really work out for you and of course it'd be so very-very nice if we could all just hit reading jackpots all of the time .. I really appreciate that you always try to make the best out of it, whether that means for you just putting a book down completely at times or not. Lol Sorry, that was kind of rambly!🙏 Buut, yeah, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you - and your videos - so much, and surprisingly, this one really touched on something I didn't realize I needed right now until I watched this-so, Thank You! 💜
