Personally I think Mim Fox is worse than all three cards that were listed. It's way above the average power level for 3 ink.

All of the bounce mechanics in amethyst are extremely powerful. Unfortunately, looking at a lot of the reveals for set 3, amethyst is gonna get even more overpowered cards.

Honestly I think a lot of the pressure from Goat would alleviate if Mim Fox wasn't a thing. Mim Fox being better than reckless Gaston is kinda whack. If she was 3/3 she would feel more fair, but as it stands Mim Fox is pound-for-pound the best card in the game hands down IMO. If I would ban 1 card, it would be her. It would allow Ruby/Amethyst to continue as it is but weaken its consistency a little bit, which would probably result in the breathing room for other decks. It would suck to ban a card, but at least it's a $1 bulk-rare card instead of something worth money. Either way, locations are about to up the ante.

Absolutely nothing should be banned in this game. 3 sets in and the .eta changes constantly. Every deck has a weakness.

Disagree, BP is not going to be as powerful as it currently is in the next set as it does nothing against locations that will give me lore. AWNW is more of a double edge sword as it can work against you if you're opponent is playing cards that they can burn real quick. Goat is probably the only thing that comes close to being banned as I've had a lot of games where I see my opponent is at 19 lore and I just ask them, "Do you have goat?"

I agree with you about BP and WNW. Strong cards that as long as they don't get fuel for an OP play can continue to be healthy. I dont agree about the Goat. I dont think any 'permanent' card should have a completely uncounterable effect or usage. In a game where there is no off-turn countering, it's not fair to have a card that shuts down your ability to respond entirely... the Goat as it is punishes you for playing against it, and it punishes for leaving it alone... it is unavoidable. I think the text should have been "When you play this character and when he returns to your hand, gain 1 lore." This would have preserved the spirit of the card, had it still respond to bounce effects, and still have a vulnerability to banishing. a skilled player can play around having the goat banished. But you also didnt discuss the truly most overpowered card in Lorcana- Lady Tremaine. It has NO COUNTER. the fact that it ignores Ward makes it the most powerful 'ETB' effect by far. Playing lots of characters to avoid selecting your big characters is often not enough unless you are playing aggro. The only way to really avoid her is WNW her away before she is even played. At least Be Prepared and WNW (and all songs/actions) are blocked by well timed Tiana... there is no answer for Tremaine.

Well said! You are absolutely right about Lady Tremaine. I cant believe I forgot about her. Hands down the most oppressive play in Lorcana is a Lady Tremaine on the turn after Be Prepared. I also agree with your proposed way to make Goat healthier for the game. Im curious if every ink color will eventually get a card that has a similar way to gain lore (through items, locations, ect..) Would that be better? Or would you rather them ban the current goat and issue a reprint where his text is adjusted? Thanks so much for the insightful comment!

@@LorcanaLizard I don't think a 'ruling adjustment' is beyond the understanding or scope of the community. I dont think they should make it a regular practice, but this time they should take care to remember how 'feels bad' this effect was because it has no counter in the game and future reprints should reflect the affected ruling

Cards that steal ink counter Goat. They aren't great yet, but they exist. Goat is a non-issue. He is just annoying. Tremaine is so pathetically easy to play around, especially after the inevitable Be Prepared. If you play a single character after a BP, then that's on you. If you're playing against Ruby, then you have to consider Tremaine and plan accordingly. AWNW is the only card in the game that's worth restricting. I prefer being able to play a single copy of a card versus banning it outright. The issue with AWNW, like with all "symmetrical" effects, is that in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, it will NEVER be symmetrical. It's also a hassle of a card to deal with. It's especially painful on Pixelborn, where you play against someone who doesn't know what they're doing, and they proceed to hit the timer after AWNW because they have no clue what to do with those 7 fresh cards. People need to remember that bans and restrictions aren't strictly for power level issues.

I did mention a few ways to counter Goat in the video. The number one way in my opinion is in agreement with you..play cards that steal lore like the ruby aladins, ursula, ruby rapunzel, ect.@@Xoulrath_

Maybe it's a skill issue but my brother plays ruby amethyst and I play sapphire steel. I hate the mind game that goes into him playing BP like I need to assume that he always has it because of how many cards he draws. I lost every game against him. Then I bought 3 copies of whole new world and I finally had a chance against him. I still lost almost every game, but it was more close. Sure it could get rid of his resources, but it can also give him a better hand. I don't think either should be banned, I think that they are equally as powerful. As long as one remains, they other should to balance it out. Now, don't get me started on the stupid goat and fox. It's soooooo fast with lore and soooooo aggressive. WnW is the only way I have a standing chance.

I agree 100%. I am very excited to see how this new set shakes up the meta! I am a bit worried about A whole New world's potential with the new set. Ive seen a few cards that might enhance it quite a lot.

I don’t think any cards need to be banned per say buttttt they could do a limited list for cards that are too strong. The game is still fresh and new and we don’t know how the other sets are going to affect the game in the future.

A month and a half ago? Yeah, we needed bans. It was straight up becoming ruby-amethyst the game, really awful. As of a few days ago? New set, new meta. No need to ban until something becomes that level of strong again.

New world only needs a cheap card to produce a mill effective deck and it is OP. There is already cards that can do it but it isn't easy to make it work. It wouldn't take much

Im sure we will learn a lot more about limiting vs. banning as the official competitive circuit progresses. I believe the official start will be in March. First world championships will be held early 2025.
