@knockharder3554 He went through BUDS before any of his training. Buds isn't designed to make you succeed. It's literally designed to make the human brain and body quit. It's sole purpose is to find the few men who simply won't quit and send those to training. Either way, you're correct in saying he fully understands the power in just not quitting, but very, very few of us genuinely understand that, even when we think we do. When it comes to the suck, we're generally wired to only put up with so much. These Tier 1 and 2 guys are simply wired differently. That's literally what sets them apart from the rest of us. I used to think they were all built like Gi.I. Joe's, and Taylor actually is, but the majority of Seal and Delta guys are just normal dudes, they just possess an insane ability to embrace the suck and still be able to remain calm and collected. The one thing they generally all have in common is above average intelligence. I really enjoy listening to them on podcasts because they are all extremely intelligent and capable human beings. They just chose to deal death as a profession, but they were going to be the best of their field no matter what they chose to do. Their training 100% helps, but these dudes are special before they ever signed the dotted lines. Regardless, we could all learn a ton from them, but only hope to obtain a fraction of their successes. We're just fortunate they fight for our teams.

When you tell yourself “I CANT have this” it sends messages to our brain that we need it… The addiction plays tricks on our minds. When you realize that you can start to take control of your life.

Consider a possibly untreated anxiety disorder which I had... I literally couldn't quit alcohol and was almost dead at 35... Doc said I had a couple months to go if I kept it up after my 3rd hospitalization and IV drip... Anxiety medication allowed me to finally quit abusing it so bad and I can actually drink responsibly now. Have a couple beers and go home and go to bed.... Lifechanging meds helped me survive it.

What do you notice about his speech vs most of the people you see/hear speaking? He is so articulate that he has no ums, ahs, likes, stutters, breaks or nervous disconnections at all. He has zero mental hiccups in between his brain and his voice. How rare is that today? Granted, he will make some pauses to regather his thoughts, but his flow of speech is so powerful compared to every other random person who are so hard to listen to. It helps make him interesting. It is a lost art. Fascinating. Great story.

The coolest thing was when Tyler’s body language changed when he spoke about realizing he still wasn’t happy after trying on all of the different personas and different identities. I teared up. This is the interview that has spoken to me and really resonated. God reached out to him so many times and he didn’t take it very seriously. Taylor, firstly you are one seriously driven individual. This was one of the most utterly absorbing interviews I’ve seen on SWU. Normally I see a 2+ hour episode and i automatically assume I’ll lose interest before the end but this episode actually made me want it to keep going. Utterly fascinating, also very resonant. The self sabotage cycle is incredibly brutal and vicious and has an unparalleled means of camouflaging itself so that we are unable to see nor stop it. Something needs to happen, a light to come on, a connection recognized, whatever it is and likely different from individual to individual, before we recognize it. I have recognized it but am floundering hopelessly with what to do to stop it and get life going. Stories like yours are the precise reason I absolutely became a true fan of Mark and this channel. I just finished watching and I am going to now search out your channel and learn more. Amazing story sir. And your iron clad conviction is inspiring and gives at least this lost and beaten down soul another ray of hope. Thank you.

My grandpa was a navy seal in world war 2.wool uniform came home alive thank God.I was able to get my mom and he was the best poppy so loving to his children and grandchildren survived his country and two days before I turned 16 he passed away from colon cancer.I lost the best poppy and my mom lost her loving dad.But he was a proud Navy Seal🥰

@@Anonymous18817 I'm not a SEAL but I am in the military and I have met guys who've made it through various special operations pipelines. I also have a sister who went to West Point, so I understand the troubles that women in the military go through. My advice for you would be to train for an Ironman. A lot of people neglect endurance training in favor of lifting weights, but 90% of what a warrior does in combat and in training is endurance related. Also, if you can complete an Ironman with a decent time, you must be pretty tough, which is probably the most important thing for special operations. Also, there are workout programs designed for those looking to enter special operations. I've good things about the 18A fitness program. There's not a whole lot you can do to prevent bone fractures or breaks. For the most part, your skeleton is what it is. My sister has dealt with various injuries throughout her time in the Army, it's really just a bridge you cross when you get there. I hope this was helpful and good luck. Even if you don't make it, any woman with the balls to attempt to become a SEAL has my respect. God bless.

I watched a video about the "deadliest soldier in vietnam" the other day. He would carry 5+ pistols on him at all times and held off the vietcong while his squad was evacuated. Then when it came time for him to evacuate he told them no. They told him that he was surrounded and needed to get out. He responded "I've got them right where I want them. Surrounded from the inside" The dude took R&R and snuck off to fight alongside other soldiers.

I had that same mentality then I got locked up stepped on the nurses scale and it said 130lbs, I said is this broken? No, have you looked in the mirror lately. I set out at that moment to become the most yoked former dope fiend. Working out and taking pride in my health changed my life. Lifting weights gave me that confidence I lacked, discipline, dedication and determination to become a better human being. That’s Awesome Bro. I was addicted to Perks, Xanax and coke for years. It took me getting locked up facing 10 years in prison to finally straighten up. I did a few months in county jail then 2 rehabs and was out on 5 years supervised probation. I was lucky and the judge gave me a chance and i took advantage of it. I have 8 years sober but I still struggle at times but I just think about my kiddos and that helps. Thanks for sharing your story. Take Care ✌🏻

Obviously if you break you neck training, you can’t help that. But quitting, not an option. Chaffing will happen, I recommend start using powder now, get use to long rucks, long runs, being wet. Hey Taylor…what an awesome pep talk! My high school boyfriend is now a retired Navy SEAL Chief. My husband, Charlie, was an ex-Marine who was stationed at Pendleton and Miramar. Charlie’s cousin Ronnie, who was more like his brother, was a Marine as well. He was a sniper too. I’ve always been surrounded by you crazy as all hell bad asses. Lol 😂 We lost Ronnie in 2016, and Charlie died from cancer at 50 in 2022. I’m lost without them both sometimes. One of the things that Ronnie did best was giving the most hard hitting pep talks when you needed to hear them the most. After listening to you speak, it reminded me so much of him. I am an ex sailor, ex Seal candidate (back then you got one chance and I was close but not there), Vietnam era, General Discharge guy - questioned everything and everyone - Captains Masts regularly but loved and respected my Captain and it was mutual. Constantly reevaluating myself after my stint in the Navy. Always at the top of any project I took on - very successful in personal life, but continually questioning my contribution. So many similarities in your life to mine. Being a lot older I know how that path unfolds if you can get right, and how bad it can go till you do. The way Taylor powered through and stayed focused on what he wanted is highly commendable, but he left chaos in his wake and everyone seems to ignore that fact. Whether he is ACOA or ADHD and even if you detest putting labels on people there is definitely something happening in Taylor that continues to cause him to resort to alcohol and self sabotage over and over. Therapy is an option. I wish him continued success in his new career as he can definitely support others using his experience. Just hope he doesn’t neglect his own mental health in the process.

TC proves that (any) one - if willing to conquer and validate himself - can beat anything and survive everything. At 69, alone n' humbled, having broken my pencils and my motorcycles sold - the only Gate through old-age depression is my meditation cushion. And guess what? In those cold, dark and immovable hours of zazen, the smiling face of TC comes and enlightens me with his coarse courage, gut-deep inhalations and blissful belief in the majestic but frail happiness of Life. This dude reminds me of myself. Living with a sense of value, wisdom, ethics and morals is 80% of the battle. The rest is common sense and self reflection. I finally figured it out in my mid to late 30s. It was Buddhism, Taoism and eastern philosophy that saved my life. Here I am 16 years later and when I deviate from the path, I suffer. Thank goodness I never go to far off the path now. I have to stick with my practice and constantly strive to refine myself and let go of even minor addictions and personality flaws.
