I liked ACOTAR and I definitely relate to the "Loved Tamlin at first" thing! SPOILER ABOUT ONE OF THE SHIPS: But one thing that just felt kinda forced when the author created all this tension between Azriel and Mor just for her to be more attracted to women. It felt like Sarah got pressured to make an LGBTQ character because of people calling her out for a lack of diversity in her stories which didn't make it any better bc it just felt forced. I appreciate it as a bisexual but it didn't sit right with me especially after how much I shipped Azriel and More in the second book, but okay🤠

I was introduced to SJM through my public Library as a freshman in high school it took me about a year to read Throne of Glass just because I was savoring it and I didn't want it to end. Then I read A Court of Thorns and Roses which took me about a month. And then I read Crescent City. I made sense for me to read them that way because the writing just kept getting better but also because there are hints and easter eggs in all the series's interlocking them together and the world building gets more intense as you go along.
@Thebloodydamnreaper3 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed the same. I did ACOTAR & Crescent City & am now trying to get into Throne of Glass, but I totally noticed the Easter eggs & possible tie-ins between the other 2 series, so I’m eager to see what I pick up w TOG. If there is an eventual crossover book, I will die of happiness!

I have the funniest story when it comes to why I started to read SJM. My friend had started reading the prequel to Throne of Glass and I though it looked interesting so I tried to find it in a book store near my house. I couldn’t find the prequel but I did find the first book in the series, Throne of Glass, so I got it and started reading it. I loved it and read the whole series over the span of a couple months, which ended when I read the final book, Kingdom of Ash, in 9 days. After I finished the series, another friend was inspired started to read it as well. We would talk about what was happening in the book they was reading and when she finished Throne of Glass (the series, not the book), they read acotar. They were the person who got me to finish acotar, which I had started but not finished. Since then, I have read all of her books over and over again, and recently, the person who first got me to read Throne of Glass in the first place started to read the books after she had stopped at the prequel. She is only on the first book, but I am so exited that she is reading a book series that I love, that she started me on. If anyone took the time to read this, I hope you have a good day. Take care of yourself.

I read first ACOTAR years back and I LOVEDDDD it. Then I tried to read the first book of ToG years ago and I never finished it because it wasn’t appealing to me. However, I’m going to give it another chance 😬😬

Heyyy !!! I've read the Throne of glass series. Even my best friend recommended it to me. And I was hooked. I couldn't agree more with the way you described the TOG series. The rest of her books are in my TBR Pile. After this video will definitely begin Crescent City. 🌙

God bless you for making this! You really laid out everything beautifully. Answered all my questions about order/sequence and the perspective changes... etc. Thank you for making this!!

The first book i read from Sarah J. Maas was House of Earth and Blood and from there i became so in love that i now have finished A Court of thorns and Roses. My all time favorite is A Court of Mist and Fury and the Crescent City series.

Oh my gosh... THANK YOU! I've been so lost/overwhelmed seeing all these books on bookstagram. I had no clue where to start! This video was so helpful! EDITING TO ADD: Crescent moon :) hahaha (I'm on my laptop and have no clue if I can use actual emojis!)

ACOTAR IS MY FAVE SERIES😩✨

SJM newbie here! Glad you made this video, thank you. I was pretty ambivalent with her books because I’ve never gotten on with fae characters in books or movies. They never get written well from my past experience. I bought crescent city and it’s on my bookshelf. I plan on trying that first since it’s adult and a single book for now to test if I like her work or not. I’m into very dark worlds with moving plots and world building with great characters. I tend to not like romance in YA books and so far don’t like romance overtaking the plot of any fantastical narrative as of right now. Crescent City of the three series you mentioned is def a good start for me and if I like it I’ll check out TOG. I wish I knew about these when I was younger I would have enjoyed them for sure then. I’ve been away from reading for 15 years so I’m quickly learning my tastes as an adult reader. I need to get several books under my belt before I start crescent city but your excitement is contagious. Again, thank you! P.S. your make up is so pretty and I love the whole color scheme you got from the top of you head to your nails. Very pretty!

Then Crescent City will be a fantastic place to start!! It has very minimal romance (more so tension and emotional ties) since the focus is more on the mystery plot, friendships and overcoming grief🤍

luv SJM's chaotic/dramatic writing style. (im a die-hard ToGer & Crescent City fan) & i will be reading acotar- because more fae/magic/heroic bantering friend crew etc. so why not, loll

i read assassins blade after throne of glass, and i think if you read it first you have a different perspective of celaena. however, wether you read it first or second, you HAVE to read it because there are storylines in assassins blade that are referenced and brought back into play throughout the series that you won’t understand the weight of them if you don’t read assassins blade

ACOTAR is my all time favourite series as well. The found family trope is my favourite. The Bat Boys have my entire heart and I am dyinnggggggg for the next books. I've also read CC1. Really enjoyed it as well. However I skipped CC2 for now, because I'm well aware that it ends on a massive cliffhanger. So, I'd rather wait for CC3 to drop, and then binge read them. I was wondering about starting TOG but now I think I will. I've heard a lot about it. Although yes, I do love romance ans smuts in my fantasy stories, I hoping the story to be good enough to keep me hooked anyway! Loved the video! 🌙

This is a huge help! I haven’t bought any of the books 📚 because I didn’t know 🤷♀️ where to begin. Now that I know.... let the book shopping and the weekend long read-a-thin begin ! 😂

I started SJM with ACOTAR and then started TOG (still into reading it). I agree with you, the original first book (Throne of Glass) isn't her best work by far, I didn't start with this one tho as someone suggested reading The Assassin's Blade before actually starting with the 1st book which helped a lot. TAB feels a lot more like SJM and it might be a better start into the TOG's world, it got me through the 1st book more easily!

I’ve read the whole ACOTAR series and TOG series!! Fell in love immediately after reading A Court of Thrones and Roses and the complexities of the characters and plots are amazing. I binged TOG right after and finished the ACOTAR as each came out. I need to start Crescent City for sure. Also I own the coloring book get it!
