A few other tips: - You have a natural 4 points of earplugs when doing ZSD. This means you only need one point of it to stay on during roars. - ZSD benefits greatly from mantles and health regen which allow you to take damage while staying on the monster to keep the ZSD going. - Tool Specialist Secret (with Fatalis or Luna set bonus) is excellent for switchaxe because it cuts mantle cooldowns in half, allowing almost a huge amount of uptime between temporal and iron mantle for safe ZSD spam.

Mounting with SA don't usually fully charge amp meter, unless you use focus or hit another monster/corpses (yes weird i know) while finishing zsd. Also different phial have different amp meter to fully enter amped state, power phial have the most hit required while dragon phial is the least. Advance tips from me : 1. Whenever you see ledge or climbable wall, feel free to use all of the sword guage and quickly recharge with jumping morph attack. 2. If you see somewhere you can slide, use jumping morph attack and you can easily mount anything (preferably you to hit the head it's usually instant mount). 3. This wasn't explained in the video but while zsd you gain earplug +4 so if you add another earplug then you can withstand any roar without being interrupted. 4. Not always the best case, but if you do zsd spam strat it's best if you let go before final explosion to prevent very long finishing animation. I always finish between 11-13 tick at max. 5. Fast way building amped meter combo, heavensward flurry > side hop > double slash or heavensward flurry > normal elemental discharge > in the middle of elemental discharge perform a clutch claw. 6. No, artillery doesn't work for SA, stop asking. Yes it's include felyne bombardier. SA don't need those skill since it's already have a very big PP. 7. Amped axe doesn't increase damage, but what it does is increase partbreak and flinch damage roughly 27% (according to reddit) and you can stack it with partbreaker skill. Will add more if i remember anything :)

Good job, nice vid. TIP: while on ZSD, if you go all the way you get a long animation at the end and pushes you far away. You can avoid this by ending with R2 (ps4 player sry) the ZSD manually before the final explosion. This way you land close to the monster and ready to attack.

@MattLeIdjut4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thought I'd make a mention here about the final tip of the video (Edit: I was kinda wrong here but not quite, the creator replied with a claryfication). The mounting attack for SA does *not* fully fill the sword's amped state from empty without any level of focus. Focus WILL increase how much amp meter you get per attack. In the video example you provided, your mounting attack happened to also hit some of the Girros next to the great Girros, so I imagine that's why you ended up with full charge without any focus, as hitting them would also increase your gauge. Even then, it filled up super quickly, so you may have a little focus in that build. Either way, I liked the video. It was cool to see someone show off some keyboard controls. I play on PC, but I seriously have no idea how you guys play with mouse and keyboard in this game, and I respect it!

Good work on explaining the basic of switch axe. But you missed some of the important information that differentiate a master switch axe user from beginner. I will leave them to you to explain. 1. Phial type and effect, this directly affect the build you used. For example, exhaust vial can make the monster enter exhaust state faster(obviously), but it is also a KO attack. If you clutch on monster head and zero sum, you can KO the monster. 2. How to prevent full consumption of "sword meter" and speed recovery without focus 3. This already can maximize your damage output in your build. 3. The effect of fully charged blade mode. 4. Back step slash , not the morphing slash you shown in video. It is very useful in positioning and evade. 5. Elemental discharge can be initiated quicker from a specific attack. 6. Zero sum discharge can be ended earlier without long recovery animation, land close to monster and also combo to a morph attack. (Why need to combo to a morphing attack? Not only for damage, This is important) 7. Different vial type have various charge time or number of slash in order to reach full "blade charge"
@deedobeebake55414 жыл бұрын
Good work pointing out missing points but you missed important information that differentiate speedrunner with master switch axe user. I'll leave them to you to explain. 1. Hit zone values of sword and phial types which skyrockets your dps. (very important) 2. Stagger locking with exhaust phial and power phial. (this creates openings obviously) 3. How shatter axe stands atop of all switch axe. 4. Trip locking and dunk spots of monsters. (which makes the run smooth as hell. Also different monsters have different values and parts) 5. The difference between power phial and power elemental phial. And why power phial is good for some match ups while it's elemental others. (like HR KT) 6. Eating demon drugs, might seed and demon powder and how it effects the damage output. (can't stress enough how important this is!) 7. Different switch axes having different caps of damage. And how you can't go any further once you reached cap. (very important to know when you make a build or else you will waste a lot of potential.)

@ozmaozmaozmaozma3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think a lot of people realize this, but ending your Zero Sum Discharge early is always the best option. There are three reasons as to why going for the full blast is a bad idea: 1) Going for the full blast makes the opening for you to get hit/knocked off so so so much larger which is not worth the risk because you won’t get your damage off. 2) Falling off the monster after the full blast puts you in a massive recovery animation and switches you back into axe mode, which makes it so much harder to capitalize on the opening you may have made and the most important 3) Doing a full blast will completely drain your power phile which you will have to build back up if you want to go back into the amped state or do another ZSD. If you do an early blast; -you barely lose any phile -you don’t get a long recovery animation -you don’t lose your amped state -you don’t go back into axe mode -and *you are able to do 4-5 more ZSD back to back which results in insane damage.* You should be either clutch clawing right back onto the monster or doing the Triangle + Circle input to get back onto the monster and just *hold triangle immediately* so you can continue doing back to back ZSDs and build up raw and elemental damage quickly and in big numbers. Honestly, I would say if you don’t play Switch Axe this way, you’re playing wrong. Really great video though!
