I need help!!!!! I’m trying to upgrade and add an additional storage device (the m.2) and I turn it on after installing the ssd and in the BIOS the only boot option is the ssd and not my hdd where my windows boot is at, how do I switch the boot so I could boot using my hdd

When upgrading the NVME SSD do I need the Sata cable to transfer all my data that I cloned to an external SSD?
@OpenBiolabsGuyАй бұрын
Wow. Good to know that none of the problems people are having with this process are being responded to/addressed. Like, I'm also having the issue of my computer won't boot from the HDD and will only boot from the m.2. I tried to upgrade my m.2 ssd, but it doesn't have windows on it and my windows install thumb drive that I'm booting from won't recognize the new ssd. The BIOS recognizes the ssd, but I can't get to the point where I can install windows on it. However, I know that I'm not going to get help here given that there are no responses to these comments.

any recommendatiosn on which 2tb ssd?? im about to do the same thing, my currrent tb is about full, im lil confused about how to take this stuff and put it on my new ssd
@fowl37992 жыл бұрын
@@jhustle1980 I went with the 'Transcend SSD230S 2 TB', which is about £210 on Amazon. There are cheaper ones available with discount down from £200 to ~£150, but Transcend 230S was the only one which specified it had a DRAM cache. -If your current SSD is already fast you can keep your Operating System on it without moving anything. Just install your 2nd SSD (you will need another SATA data cable and SATA power cable, also check if your PC case has another SSD tray) then download all your games onto the newer SSD (this is what I did). -If you want to completely replace your old SSD, when buying a new SSD the manufacturer sometimes includes a licence for cloning software. Otherwise there are plenty of options for cloning your drive to another SSD, you just might have to pay for it.

If the one installed in your computer has your operating system then you will have to find a tutorial on how to move the operating system to the new drive, also any data on your old m.2 drive will have to be transfered over as well, it helps if you have a second drive in your pc already then you can just transfer everything to that and then move it to your new drive after its installed.

Also double check to see if your motherboard has more than the one m.2 slot, mine has 2 on it so I just added the second drive in.

I noticed that you do not separate programs from data. That means every time Windows corrupts the file system, you have to wait while chkdsk runs over the entire volume. A better layout is GUID Partition Table, UEFI partition, Windows program partition, Windows recovery partition, NTFS data partition and optional Linux partition and swap partition.
