Exellent stuff!! Builds that double & tripple down on item effects like that are my favorite ways to optimize. I've got a Tiger Barbarian using gloves that force con saves when your weapon is poisoned in any way.

FYI, I now know that the regular headband of intellect isn’t currently available in the game. As I make these builds I make sure I have access to all possible item combos to make the most interesting builds and show the potential of the game. so I only modded in items I didn’t find in my playthrough. To fix this I would either just go for The Warped Headband Of Intellect, or set the stats a bit differently to compensate for the absence of this item.

Mathematically with hit chance things factored in, Great Weapon Fighting is a minuscule damage increase. The 1 AC is a better pick most of the time. Not that this game is remotely hard even on tactician.

@@KatanaKamisama That is true, especially in 5E because you have to spend the time rerolling all the time. Luckily at least in BG3 it auto rerolls for you 😂. But yeah, more AC is really good!

There's a glove that reduces spell range to melee and removes penalties with spell casting while threatened. That glove is far better than the on hit chance to reduce 1d4 roll glove you have, for Eldritch Knight.

Abjuration is the way to go, if I remember exactly eachtime you can shield or any defensive spell you get a reduce damage buff that decrease eachtime you get hit and stacks with the heavy armor damage reduction from feat and from the armor itself

I wish someone would display a build of my sort. I personally can't do without the higher level spells, namely fireball/haste. This addition of haste commonly gives you that punch of improved extra attack and more. If you don't want spell slot on haste, you can always get the bow at the end of steelwatch foundry, gives haste spell. Then you can swap out for maybe lightning bolt. Take 5 levels in wizard, 7 in fighter. Mainly hitting that 6 for your third feat

If you want the split with the best spell slot ratio, you want either 5F/7W or 6/6, both of which will count you as a level 8 spellcaster, giving you a 2nd level 4 spell slot, with an extra feat for 6/6. Obviously anything less than 5 fighter is not worth it due to losing extra attack. 7F/5W will get you 1 level 4 spell slot. 8F/4W will give you a 4th feat which could have its uses with some builds. 9F/3W gives 3 level 3 spell slots. 10F/2W gives 2 level 3 spell slots, and the eldritch strike ability shown in this video. 11F/1W will give you a 3rd extra attack, but only level 2 spells (although you can learn them from scrolls). Hope this helps a little when deciding when and where to multi-class the Eldritch Knight / Wizard Combo.

If going with the 6/6 split, divination wizard gets an extra portent dice, and they are refreshed on short rest, making this significantly more useful.

some people might be agains mods, but just picking up the SCAG cantrips makes EK so much better, i did a EK7/Wiz5 build on my "Tav" and had hell fun with it. I honetly find most min/maxed build ruin the game ...its just not hard enough to warrant them i mean unless you just want to walk through every thing.

Yeah honestly I mostly make these videos to show what’s possible in the game, it’s also satisfying to me when a character concept can also be brought to reality with the mechanics. 😄

Check the pinned comment, basically it was a mistake by me. It’s not available in the game rn, but it’s in the game files. My goal in these videos is to show you what is possible in the game, and I couldn’t get every item in one playthrough, so I modded in the items I couldn’t get. Turns out there are some you can’t get 😅. Anyway, now I make sure all gear I use in a build is possible to acquire in a playthrough. 😂

I wonder if the eldritch strike is really worth it. Because at the end of the day you can just multiclass fighter with wizard early (let's say 5/7) and get a bit better spellslots and spell level. Too bad that there's no Feat that gives you "Combat spellcaster" tag or whatever it's called for any weapon (usage of your spellcaster modifier for weapon attacks). That would be neat.

i think the whole point in this game is that hybrids aren't suppose to be straight up as effective in either catagory i don't see much point in going pure physical or pure magic if hybrid is better, but hybrid gets some utility, variety and situational benefits over being a purely physical class or in some cases a purely magical class

A way to think about it is a full spellcaster could upcast fireball and possibly get more damage, but in this video for example I was able to cast fireball and basically guarantee they would all fail the saving throw. Also though there is a weapon that makes your spell casting modifier work with the weapon, and I’ll probably make a build on it somewhat soon!

@@comradewarners not a 2h iirc. I'm playing as fighter 1 wizard 1 warlock 9 and it's pretty monstrous in both melee and spelcasting department. Why wizard 1? To learn two level 5 unique spellscrolls you find in Act 3.

If that’s the case then that was my bad. As I’ve been making these builds I’ve been trying to show the full potential of the game even with items I didn’t find in my playthroughs. So I use mods to have access to all the items. I’ll double check the items in the future to make sure they are all possible to actually get in a playthrough.

@@jackshaoxixu the difference is the intellect score would go from 19 to 17, so just a bit lower intelligence, spells will have a slightly harder chance to hit.

Is a Battle Master with an early 1lvl dip in wizard better than a straight EK? I love having expeditious retreat up on a melee fighter and shield is great too. The rest I mostly use for ritual spells. You only get lvl1, but there is a lot of utility here and you can free up preparations on another character by casting longstrider with the fighter on everyone.

Honestly that’s a really nice choice. Especially since you wouldn’t be getting much out of level 12 BM, but at that point it might be better to dip into one of the casters that get a subclass at level 1 for a little more power!

Spoilers: If you go to the house of hope and you steal items from there you get a neck piece with 23 constitution. The vendor also sells you some gloves with 23 strength. Then you can respect and dump everything in intelligence. It only happens when you reach The Lower City though.

So as far as I know there for sure isn’t anything confirmed. They didn’t expect their game to be as popular as it has become, but they did mention recently that they are open to the idea of adding DLC. Probably a ways out though if at all. For me I more just like to see what is possible, but I do have the same desire as you. More harder content would be amazing! 😄

So a lot of the gear is from Act 3, but going wizard after you get extra attack from level 5 fighter has a lot of the benefits stated in the build. This is more to show you what is possible end game and that ring I mentioned you can get in basically 5 minutes after starting act 3. 😄

Maybe get things like the lightning charge stuff to make it feel more magic-ish because expeditious retreat seems like it would work well with the lightning charge dash boots, and with the trident and the amulet it might be fun.

Unfortunately not with this build, there are weapons that specifically have the “thrown” tag on them and those weapons do great damage!

The trident you get from that raptor rainforest is actually godly weapon for this. It's also one of the most broken legendaries on it's own, considerin' that it gives you 6d8 and 6d6 thunder damage AoE spells on a short rest cooldown.

Im disappointed in classes in this game, most are pointless. They’re basically all the same. Eldritch knight is just a caster in heavy armor, with limited spells, it’s pointless, Eldritch Scion is what everyone wanted to enchant weapons with elements, but you only get that now with a high level paladin. Classes are gimped, pathfinder kingmaker is the better game.

I haven’t played that game, but I bet it’s a great game! Since they were basing the game on 5E D&D they didn’t have the freedom to make whatever they wanted, but yeah I agree with you. Eldritch Knight isn’t that good in BG3. 😄
