Hello friends! Todays video is a huge book haul of all the books I've acquired over the summer. I'm secretly (not so secretly) preparing for autumn already, so a lot of these books are ones that I'm really excited to read during spooky season!
The haul includes a little bit of everything! I love the term “sensitive reader” as I feel this way too. I could not read the Court of Thorns and Roses series because of the violence and language. Nobody else could understand why but it was just too much for me. I will use that term from now on to help my friends and family understand why I don’t read certain things. 👌🏻

@@bunny_0288 Mine too! Waterhouse's painting of the Lady "looking the chain" in the boat is my favorite piece of visual art inspired by Tennyson's poem. Is that the one? I bet you've already heard of it, but just in case you haven't, Loreena McKennitt set (most of) "The Lady of Shalott" to music on her album The Visit. If you're also a fan of Keats, Loreena has a beautiful song for "La Belle Dame Sans Merci" too. And if you haven't given Tennyson's "The Splendor Falls" a try yet, I recommend that as well! 👍

UK viewer here and I'm enjoying your enthusiasm - it's very catching and incredibly uplifting. I have a few book recommendations for you if you've not already read them. The first is actually a non-fiction that I think would be right up your street (it doesn't read like non fiction) and it's called The Serpent and the Moon by Princess Michael of Kent. Brilliant book set in renaissance France about King Henry II and the rivalry between his Queen and his mistress. I couldn't put it down it was so interesting. And if you've not read any Daphne Du Maurier, then they're an absolute must for your bookshelf. Rebecca is an all time favourite, but so is House on the Strand. She's the ultimate in romance and gothic writers and certainly a top author here in the UK. Love and hugs from rural England ;-)

Reading can be a lot less expensive if you use your local library. Many libraries also lend out eBooks, so if you have a reader, such an a Kindle, you don't even have to worry about possible COVID germs on a physical book. Where I live, not only can you get any book from any branch of the county library, it's possible to request books from numerous libraries throughout the state.

Very true!! I get most of my audiobooks through loan with my library using the Libby app :) I do have a few books currently checked out from the library. I love the library :) But sometimes the wait time for the new releases is so long 🙈 but you’re very right!

So many thoughts with this video!! First perfect timing, I just went to the book store today and got two books (Old Wives Lore for Gardeners and a gorgeous edition of Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tales). You've reminded me to appreciate gorgeous editions of books and owning special books. Second Pride and Premeditation looks really good, and if it is, apparently it's a series which is a plus. Third, Elizabeth Lim also wrote a duo, Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk which were SO good. Love you Desi!!
