@Your Local dad curious why? Canada is beautiful but unfortunately it’s just not sustainable to live here anymore, we have some of the worst rates of wages to cost of living and housing is unaffordable unless you’re a millionaire. Our economy is a Ponzi scheme that’s dependant on oil and real estate that will likely collapse soon and everyone who can is looking to emigrate. I have no idea how the hell my kids would be able to afford to live here. Plus it’s incredibly boring and isolating, there’s no sense of community, nation or culture
@RG-jf5ep3 жыл бұрын
@Todoroki Shoto there’s plenty of dirty places in Canada too, look up the east side of Vancouver (one of the most disgusting places I’ve ever been) or Sarnia or Hamilton. The beautiful areas like Banff would cost you a lot of money to live in. Where I live in Ontario, I would say is literally the same feel as where I went to in Southern Germany, but I found Germany WAY more beautiful because there’s historic areas
@booksandwine62453 жыл бұрын
@Todoroki Shoto that is so true!!! I'm german too and I really dont like it here. I don't think anyone my age I talked to likes living here. as you said, it is depressing. and the historical places may look good on tv, but they are actually not that pretty and really dirty
@RG-jf5ep3 жыл бұрын
@Todoroki Shoto I actually did notice that when I traveled there, I feel like Central Europeans tend to be more brash/blunt? However I’m curious if it’s because you live in a big city? Because when I traveled to southern German towns, everyone was super nice, but in larger cities people were ruder (however I would say this is pretty similar to North America/globally as well) the rudest people I’ve ever met were New Yorkers, and people in Toronto can also be pretty rude

Yes to slow living! Shortly after I got married, I was diagnosed with Lupus that was triggered by my incredibly fast paced and high stress lifestyle. Since then, my husband and I have embraced slow living and only doing the things we feel we NEED to do. We both work from home teaching music lessons so we are very lucky that we have full control of our schedules and we love our work. And things we NEED to do also include activities like reading for an hour each evening with a fireplace video playing on KZbin or getting croissants to enjoy the next morning while listening to old French songs. Sometimes I forget how magical our life together actually is. Especially with all the classical music the fills our home when my husband practices. But this was a result of us being intentional about how we want to create our lives and letting go of things that are not part of this. It's hard but soooo worth it!

Yes! Normalize seperate bedrooms! It just works better for some and by some I mean my partner and I as well. Ten years together and we have often spent years having separate houses even and we have three children and are totally monogamous. I loved how Downtown Abby showed this as well because it used to be accepted that women needed a room of their own to feel like they could just nest in and often it was highly feminine and not as appreciated by the man, but honestly, I appreciate both masculine and feminine styles and I LOVE being able to go back and forth! We will sleep together at times and love being able to pick the style. That whole "my place or yours?" thing helps to allow us the space we need as both highly different and independent individuals, and yet spend as much time together as we please. Folks have thought for years that we were odd but it is so nice for us to maintain our own personal spaces! I love him and he loves me, but we also have self love and maintain our own personalities in a very opposites attract sort of way. I wouldn't change that for the world!

I reread 'The Girl on the Train' just last month. I read it in about a week. Before that, I'd also been in a reading slump for many years & forgot the joy of reading just to read. I love psychological thrillers! I then read 'The Haunting of Hill House' & am now reading 'Frankenstein' (both based on your recommendations). Thank you for sharing book recommendations, as well as inspiring me to fall in love with reading again. Bless you Desi! ❤

Loved hearing all your responses! I've never been able to enjoy sharing a bed, so absolutely nothing odd about wanting a good night's sleep 😄 Growing up my friends always thought it was so strange that my grandparents had separate bedrooms, but my Nan also couldn't handle the snoring and moving lol. And they were married for 60 years so that says something right?! 🤣

I love your channel! Have you heard of the Cotswolds in England? Its a gorgeous area filled with old villages and beautiful scenery, plus its right next to the historic city of Bath, where most of Bridgeton was filmed! 🌷

Oh my gosh I just found your channel and I feel like you are one of my best friends already! I’m also an Aquarius (I don’t actually know what that means though), and I teach English in Japan. I got my bachelors in secondary education, and I ALWAYS get Hufflepuff as my house 😆🤎 I’m so excited to watch your journey and how much you will learn and change in the future!!!!

I absolutely LOVE the fact that you sleep in separate beds.. good for you!! Anyone out there who thinks a couple need to share the same bed is what “holds the relationship together” couldn’t be more wrong.. if that were the case, we’d have no divorces?!?! I love my own bedroom... and so does he , it has worked for 16 years now 🧡

Totally love your channel. It still never tire of a country cottage! I love all my old things and I treasure my unique life and I also live in Utah. I am in Layton and I have all the books and movies you are talking about. So happy to find a lover of all things that love too. Blessed be

Have you seen the movie Wives and Daughters? I think you would absolutely love it. It's a historical piece set just after the regency era. I think its even better than anything by Jane Austen. Seriously that good

Hi Desi, new viewer to your channel and catching up with your older videos. Like Tutts Clump I'm an older viewer (almost senior citizen but not quite). I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 40's so organizing my thoughts in a coherent manner can be a challenge. However, I love to write because it gives me time to say what I want to say....my handwriting is also a mess (sometimes I can't even read it) and it can take me longer to write a story than a lot of other writers. However, I have published short stories, author interviews, book reviews, and am working on a novel. You say you don't want to write your own story, and that's totally cool. But if you do, don't let your neural differences stop you. From the looks of you, you seem to be a person (like Anne Shirley) who can do anything she sets her mind to.

I used to romanticise my life too until i was bullied badly for being the ‘main character’. I was locked in a janitor closet , strangled ,spat on at school. At home my siblings hit me,i sleep on the floor with no blanket. So i became very bitter as an adult. I started hurting myself at 11 years old. I lost all my books while being homeless. Finding your channel reminds me of my old self. I missed her.

i have mild dyslexia that i never really got help with so i didn't know my speech problems and bad handwritnng were probably also due to dyslexia. but i feel that. i think i fell out of love with reading when i realized how slow i read (~20 pages/hr, and the average person reads 40-50/hr) and it was discouraging, but when i stopped having expectations like that about reading, it became fun again

You seem to have the Anne Shirley spirit, I think that would be a kindred spirit ☺️. I enjoyed watching this mainly because you sound like someone I would get along with in person. I’m glad you and your husband also addressed that you sleep apart but are ok with it. 👌🏻 My husband and I are the same. He stays up late and ends up falling asleep on the couch.
