What a great time to be a Rolex owner. I have owned a 116610ln black Sub since 2014. I am ready to add another Rolex model!

Prices are softening a little, but nothing crazy on the non-super hyped pieces. Everything is still way more expensive than one year ago. Glad to see you're keeping well, Christopher. I hope the results from the surgery are good. Take care, man.

Yeah I like the Rolex product itself, but the customer experience is terrible because of the availability and distribution issues. So for now I’ll just wait it out till I’m able to get it at an ad. I like walking into a store and simply buying what I want with no strings attached.

Hey hope you have a full recovery!!! There is so much wishful thinking that the market crashed, I think grey market dealers might have been pushing prices up and they got caught…for a minute. Prices might come down but I think gradually and that would be good for everyone, who is not a flipper. Would love to see that new air king in person! Take care

I saw some GM's selling the new GMT Sprite Left Handed for $80k lol. Thankfully, its just sitting there collecting dust and the GM is sweating since they overpaid for a super-hyped watch that no one wanted or asked for.

... and there in lies the issue - Rolex can no longer afford to have people walking into their ADs (especially their own singled branded ADs which aren't aligned to a chain such as Watches of Switzerland, The Hour Glass, etc) and not have any watches available for sale. I was in a reputable local AD recently looking at a couple of other branded watches... and I lost count of how many people came in looking to buy a Rolex and were perplexed that none were available for sale despite several hot models being on exhibition display. But in saying this, the market is not in a full scale crash - it's just come off the boil with the supply chain feeling nervous because the quick profits they have become accustomed to in recent years have suddenly gone to a trickle (i.e. the flippers and/or greys who've been caught short at the wrong time in the chain). If, like me, you have an interest in purchasing another branded watch at this time, it might now be a good time to play a little bit of hard ball with your AD i.e. "if I'm buying an (insert here IWC, Breitling, Zenith, etc) I want to package that with a new Rolex (but that might only mean a DJ, Explorer I 36, Air King - stuff that isn't going to bubble up too heavy the moment you walk out of the store or you might get lucky with a Sub or GMT with the flippers now suddenly declining purchases). I wouldn't be purchasing other brands without a significant discount or without packaging it together with a Rolex (or maybe even without both scenarios happening).

Nobody paid $69,000 for that Rolex... A second hand watch dealer might have simply sold it to themselves...

Enthusiasts will be better abled to get what they want. Either through an AD, or better prices through a dealer. I don’t see a problem…

I am sure that as the world has opened up (post covid) people are finding other things to spend money on holidays for example, therefore less people chasing the watches… grey dealers I think have realised having lots of high price stock may get to be a problem, as they may have to take a loss, so are reducing the number of ones they are buying.. and less buyers means a reduction in price to get more people interested to take a slimmer profit margin..

@@niklasmeyer9660 They were set up as a charity many decades ago. They do donate a large portion of their profits to charity. But I would not call it in and of itself a charity.

Have you considered that maybe some enthusiasts are maturing in their watch tastes to broaden their interest to other brands? Rolex fandom is the purest form of horological ignorance. Time to broaden your interests and maybe collect something that’s actually rare.

I like rolex... but they aren't innovative. Where is the high beat movement. Display case back. Why the lazy releases (we made it green and made it lhd). Blah blah blah. Too many great companies out there who are making better watches. rolex has a name... but can't live on name forever.

Recession is coming and everyone knows it. The smart money is getting out of useless stuff like this. Crown and caliber had an air king for 14 grand two months ago. Four months ago it was 10 grand. Right now it’s back to 10. People found out there is a top people are willing to pay. Also, The dip in the market and people losing their asses on crypto is making a difference.

You can’t just open up a Rolex factory simply because you can’t have thousands of people becoming watch makers overnight
