The verse at the end is perfect. You are right. You do have to keep doing and moving when grief happens to others. It can be very overwhelming and tiring to suddenly have tons of guests and communication. Helpful is condolence, then a helping hand later to adjust to new routine, (chores, food, cleaning, acts of service). Then not forgetting, so inviting and listening if opportunity arrives. ❤ Condolences

Megan, so sorry for the family loss. My heart aches for these times when our loved ones pass. I pray all will find peace with time and the pain will soften. You have had your share of life changing items this year yourself and you are correct. We cannot fix things for others but we can be there for them and give them a hug and some soft words of encouragement. I so agree with you regarding feeling other’s pain. You do not get the opportunity to have a couples weekend often and it is so important for your marriage. I think the trauma you went through with your son having seizures and also being postpartum was enough stress to warrant you taking care of your own mental health. Mom’s rarely get a break so when you compartmentalized “your grief vs. where I am needed at the moment”, was a great lesson for us all. I am so sorry for your families loss. 🙏

Love how you put a scripture at the end. Yes, you never know when you'll see someone for the last time in this life. I kept feeling impressed to take a family picture on what would become my 36 yo brother's last Christmas. Never happened, just got to doing other things. It was Christmas Eve. I'll always regret that I didn't realize how I would never be able to take a picture including all the families in our family again. Seeing your vlogs makes me think how you've got so much footage of your family and how wonderful that is💕

So sorry for the loss of the family member 😢but you are correct in what you say, no matter how much we want to shoulder some more pain for those directly involved 'we unfortunately can't. You did the right thing in trying to carry on with the plans previously made as you heading home wouldn't have helped or been any help to anyone. I'm glad you managed some you and Josh time and spent a wholesome day together Sunday as those days are fleeting as the children get older and life gets busier etc. You can't put a price on just wholesome family time spent together ❤

I needed this, thank you. A few days ago, there was a terrible buggy accident here, where the amish lady was hit from behind at highway speed and was killed. Her 1 year old survived. But this lady and her husband had bought our previous farm, and we knew her. So thank you for those thoughts, because it's been so hard processing such a needless, sudden death.❤

I’d personally be cautious using the words “move on” when talking about the realm of death, especially when it’s fresh and the grief is hitting others much harder. I think I understand what you’re ultimately getting at here, but regardless, it’s probably not the best word choice.

@@lorraineearle5967 Not sure what your question is, but I'll clarify by saying that grief and loss is often not something people "move on" from, especially the closer you're connected to the one who's passed. Having lost my only sibling 5 years ago, I can say that I haven't moved on, nor will I probably ever, but rather as time passes our grief changes. Is that helpful?

The golfing stories crack me up. TRUTH. My door opens to hole # 9. I see the CRAZIEST stuff and I have done my share of crazy stuff. There is a normal fence, and a few trees and guys think they are hidden if they decide to take a leak, yes, I wrote that because it happens. 😅 There used to be bushes years ago and people would get their balls stuck in them and watching the look for the ball episode is hilarious. A group of old guys and their old car decorated golf carts goes around every week, which is like a parade. When you walk your dog or talk to neighbors you have to stand in certain places or you can get hit by a ball. We have runway type lights and night golfing twice a year. And truth about the oldies not hitting too well, but they have so much fun. I used to pick up golf balls that end up over the fence, and I had a huge basket of them. I sold it for $20. 😅.

I so disagree with a lot of what you said here there is nothing more healing than people just being there with you sitting with you in your pain and it does sooth and heal and yes even lessen the pain. The Bible tells us to share each other's burdens. If your not close to the situation it is fine to continue with your plans. But the things you said about moving on, etc., feels so calloused.
