17:32 funny thing is, I think he actually did, in the film when we see the girl eating plants, jimmy hold out three picture, one with Cindy on it. The plant eats the Cindy picture and then after that Jimmy puts the picture in a box with a bunch of other pictures of Cindy with a bit taken out of them.

I loved this game as a kid, I would play it on loop non stop and I loved exploring Retroville and I loved glitching it out to make Jimmy stuck being red or green or even blue skeleton (if you hit the Windows icon button while he’s a different color he’ll stay it when you go back)

That Windows key trick also removes shadows from dark rooms like the school and the green hue from the power plant

I remember playing a demo of this game I think. It was just the Yokian Base segment, surprising the demo is such a late game area. I was absolutely terrified of it though, getting chased by the Yokians was terrifying.

I always wondered if the ending of this game is supposed to be an End of Evangelion reference (“Congratulations” scene). It’s definitely got the same uncanniness, though I think it has a lot to do with the eeriness of the game’s engine. There’s something mythical about these PC games from the 2000s needing to be able to run on old Windows 98 machines; I guess that’s why the competition from the consoles always looked better in almost every single way, aside from the higher resolutions you can get from playing on a PC.

This game kinda traumatised me as a kid. In Area 51 that police car and especially the Yolkians (on the ship) chasing me scared the hell out of me. Took me a while and a lot of energy to finish the mission to escape the ship. Otherwise the game was pretty good. Despite the kinda awkward pacing and dialogue, I really liked the big open world, there was upbuilding tension in the plot, it did feel like you were making process by unlocking more powerups and because the skybox texture turned from day into night. This was also yet another one of those THQ/AWE games that didn't get a Dutch translation, so a lot of the time I was just guessing what my next mission was supposed to be. I got more fun out of it when I got older.

Man, I'm starting to realize why I only played this game once as a kid, it was really obtuse. The sequel, Jimmy Neutron vs Jimmy Negatron, is way better, and I have a lot more fond memories of that one.

3:30 I'm not sure whether to criticise these 3D models. They're clearly poorer than the SpongeBob games. But we need to take into account that in this game all environments are fully modelled as well. All those models' polygons need to be drawn. There may have been limitations for how many polygons could be drawn per frame without the game starting to lag. The low audio quality of the voice clips personally bothered me more. xD

I never really knew the movie had this PC game, as the only one I knew is Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron, I'm not sure if you remember or interested in that, but yeah it's bizarre. The tank controls are unfortunate and takes some time getting used to.

One of the earliest games I can remember playing. My dad had the demo of this game on his PC and I would try playing it. I was three years old so there wasn't much I could do. I remember the lava sections.

This game is super janky but I also think it’s greater than the sum of its parts. For a lot of kids, it was our first open world exploration heavy game. GTA3 only came out two weeks before this. It filled me with so much imagination and excitement for the future of video games having a whole world to explore based on a show/movie.
