I've been doing 3+ days per week of 20-22 hour fasts, with the 16/8 fasts on the other days, plus I walk 10,000 steps 3+ days a week and I'm losing weight at a rate of about 3 pounds per week. I've been doing intermittent fasting for 3 years now--sometimes on my current schedule, but frequently on just the 16/8 schedule--and I've dropped at least 40 pounds. But now I'm combining it with walking, plus I've quit eating fast food and takeout and sweets and this is my winning combination. 16/8 allowed me to maintain my weight or very incrementally lower it while eating all that stuff, but getting rid of of the sweets and high calories has made a huge difference in my progress.

Hi Keri, how are you doing 8 months on? :)
@kerim.peardon5551

@@colinglen4505 I lost about 12 pounds and went skydiving back in the fall. I noticed after 6 weeks that my weight plateaued and it never got over the hump for the rest of the period (I did it for 12 weeks total). When I recently checked my weight, I had gained it all back, although I was under the impression that I had still been losing weight because I feel smaller, I look smaller, and all my clothes, including my underwear, are looser. So I have no idea what's up with that. I don't work out in a gym, so surely I haven't exchanged that much fat for muscle. And I weighed myself over a 2 week period, so it can't all be monthly water weight fluctuation. I have been doing my fasting routine for about 6 weeks now, but I'll quit it at the end of the month because I feel like I have plateaued again. I'll just do a 16/8 fast daily for maintenance for a month, then hit it again for 6-8 weeks. Fasting does work, but I don't think it works as well for me as it would most people because I have noticed several times before in my life that I seem to get much better results from exercise than from dieting--which is the complete opposite from most people. Unfortunately, I don't have time for gym exercise. I'm spending an hour a day learning Polish and I'm gardening every spare second I can while the weather is nice. (Which is exercise, let me tell you, but I still need more of it.) I have slipped on my daily walking; I got out of the habit when I spent the winter working from home. So I need to get back on that. But I think what I really need is about 45 minutes of God-make-it-stop exercise, like aerobics or something.

@@kerim.peardon5551 Thank you for your honesty. The body is smart and it will retain fat as a survival mechanism. Need to trick it again somehow.

@@kerim.peardon5551 Hi Keri, you've said you gained it all back, but if you are still feeling smaller, perhaps what you've done is replaced fat with muscle. Thoughts?

@@rogerlenton3335 Probably more like the fat just relocated. LOL. But I've been walking (try to get 10,000 steps 4 times per week) and that's actually been enough to allow me to drop weight.

It works. Yes it does. I do it too. I am sooo busy with my house chores and taking care of a 4 year old, and workout about 12:30 even on Active Rest Day. So I don’t eat till 2:45 and 6:00/7:00/8:00. Eating is so overrated

One meal a day is not meant for people who have a vigorous work out like yours, you should really look into going 2 meals a day. Unless your doing testosterone then forget everything I say.

There are different reasons to work out. If you are body building. Trying to gain muscle, then you definitely want to take a pre workout meal and post workout protein shake. You also want to eat every three hours. His work out goals are different. He is not wrong, neither is the body builder. They just have different goals.
