Nice instruction as always, thank you. Wish I had YT back in the day....I had to make one out of nothing for a fire damaged VW Bettle (in another lifetime) was supplied another complete interior from a wreck (Carpets, Seats, Door panels) but nobody could supply the headlining, I assumed most were in too poor condition once removed. Dam difficult and I had to fit each panel, came out awesome like a factory new one. Couldn't charge all the hours, took me about 2 days including putting windows back in etc. Very rewarding job, left the trade shortly after but marvel at your attention to detail and instruction.

Recently picked up a pfaff 1245 706/47 like the one you have many videos on and have used your videos to get it tuned up. Looking to start messing around with some automotive upholstery for my own and family cars. What would you say are the most important presser feet to own to do most basic upholstery work?

The most basic presser foot is: www.amazon.com.mx/PFAFF-INDUSTRIAL-PRESSER-conjunto-40474-5/dp/B0773HLZST The others also important are: www.ebay.com/itm/163629356658?itmmeta=01HZJ9958ND3118BVZVV53NQTC&hash=item261911d672:g:NKoAAOSwZ2dmCnz7 www.ebay.com/itm/162385869449?itmmeta=01HZJ9958KTKMH6XYRSC7QH8W5&hash=item25cef3ba89:g:qM0AAOSwWx5j~Hw8&var=465459651225 www.amazon.com/CKPSMS-Brand-GL-1245-Spring-Side-5MM/dp/B07QHTHCBP

i have a question, what leather would be best for wrapping the exterior of a car weather wise, would leather hold up ok or would it be best to use the same vinyl as the traditional vinyl top cars of the 70's - 80's etc what i'm wanting is that softer skin like feel rather than the hard vinyl background, i'm a panel beater and custom car restorer so bodyworking the exterior to accommodate the leather wont be a problem, ie making and fitments fit the thicker surface and making door gaps bigger pre wrapping
@Cechaflo9 ай бұрын
We should start under the premise that a top roof would be directly exposed to the sunrays, rain, dust, etc. Regular top roof covers are made in vinyl material. Regarding your question I answer yes it is possible the use of leather material, provided it fulfills the requisites of exterior use. I would advise a marine leather or at least automotive leather if the car would not be exposed to the sunrays for so long. I think the best would be to get some direct assistance from a leather supplier.

Did you reverse some of the panels on purpose? It looks like 2 of the panels are opposite of the others as the shading looks different. But at the end of the video, it all looks the same.
@Cechaflo9 ай бұрын
Yes, you are right. The fabric hair of all the panels should comb in the same direction. I used some scraps of fabric and I did not care so much about it as it is just a small mock-up.
@sunsetoriginals73209 ай бұрын
@@Cechaflo ahhh. Ok. I know you're attention to detail is over the top so I was a little confused! 😂 It still looks absolutely amazing. Wish I had your patience. But I don't do quite as fancy type of work as you either. Mostly fishing boats that just need to be functional.
@Cechaflo9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your keen eye! Velvets, velours, Alcantaras, and suedes should comb in the same direction to get the same shade.
