Which jacket and glove combination would you recommend for cold weather riding? I am swapping from car to bike commute due to congestion pricing so need to update on my clothes.

If you're starting, I think the instinct is to just wear the kind of clothing that you would wear for the same temperatures when walking around, but I think most people find that that gets too hot and many underestimate how much heat you generate when biking. It's hard to make specific recommendations because everyone has different cold tolerances, and if I were to tell someone to wear the same things I do would probably make people think it's not enough which might be true. I have Pearl Izumi lobster gloves and I will wear a merino wool liner glove to give me extra warmth when temperatures drop below 20 degrees. As for a jacket, wind blocking is a must and will make a big difference in how you feel the cold. If you can find a jacket that is wind and waterproof, that will set you up for success and worst case scenario you can add layers underneath it to bolster things up if you find it inadequate.

I feel like my secret is that I generate warmth by pedaling, and I don't mind being a little bit cold 😂

Have you been enjoying the congestion pricing?

I didn't expect to notice it as much as it has been so soon, but I definitely notice the difference more as a pedestrian compared to my cycling route.
