Wow, didn't know the background on Munoz, though I think I'd heard of the book--very helpful!

😂 I love your comment about 5 de Mayo! This month I’m trying to focus on Mexican authors since I am Mexican American, I am reading Recollections of Things to Come by Elena Garro. The books you mentioned sound very good. I would also love to read something by Isabel Allende sometime soon!

Hahah, I felt bad for bursting people’s bubble! I’m adding that book to my list! If you have any recs in Spanish by Mexican authors, I’d love a couple. I’m in the process of learning Spanish (particularly Mexican Spanish); I grew up in LA and love the accent and slang and intonations. Thank you for dropping by!

@@NettaSelene so cool that you are learning Spanish! ☺️ for Mexican authors or books I would recommend Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo both of these are classics of the Mexican Literature. The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia is good and I need to read more from this author. Other authors I want to read from are Elena Garro, Elena Poniatowska, Guadalupe Nettel, Rosario Castellanos and Carlos Puentes. If you like poems Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz is a well known writer, as well as Octavio Paz. I hope this helps and you find a book that you love. The first three I mentioned are some of my favorites, I love magical realism and I treasure these stories. ☺️
