Es interesante saber un poco más sobre esto, nosotros en Latinoamérica siempre celebramos nuestro día de independencia, pero para mí es nuevo saber que en los Estados Unidos también se celebra de alguna manera.

Columbus wasn’t Spanish, he was Genovese from Genova Italy. He was a sailor and explorer who proposed to the Spanish royals a different route to get to India and the Far East. He got, not just the approval but the financial means and infrastructure to pursue his plans. While at it he found lands believing were the asian ones, and was only after his dead that was understood he found an entire new unknown continent. The COLONization (word derived from Colon, or Columbus in Spanish) of the new world is therefore attributed to Spain as for it was the country that provided all the resources. No heritage month is celebrated in Latin America. The discovery day, on October 12, IS the day celebrated. I know it is now Un-PC in the US to talk about Columbus, one of the greatest man in the history of the world, but THAT is the real reason why “Hispanidad”, not “LatinX”, not independence days, not woke BS, is celebrated. Because of the discovery on October 12, 1492. Stop it with the BS. I’m sick of it.

History has been written from the white mans perspective and black and hispanic people have been purposely left out of it for too long. Idk if you happened to go to an amazing inclusive school, but most of us did not and instead learned about American history as if we weren't apart of it besides maybe like Martin Luther king and Cesar Chavez lol if it was written inclusively from the get go we wouldn't meed to have these whatever history months to make up on missed education and celebration.

@@alexisstaroneal idk if you don’t remember but in school i was taught about the mayans the aztecs and the conquistadors among many others. History was written by historians. See how easy you segregate? You are literally siding with ppl like disney that tried to copyright dia de los muertos. These ppl are literally colonizing our language with latinx literally going against the basis of our culture, language. If you really want ppl to learn and know this teach it year round. Advocate for it. As of right now you are literally arguing that we need a month given to us by white men (george e brown to be exact. It was made a month by paul simon and was signed in by reagan then was first celebrated by pres bush senior. Im sure u love all these white men hahaha) so that we can celebrate our heritage cuz we can’t otherwise cuz white men wrote history hahaha. Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds?

As a Hispanic, whatever that is exactly... I generally consider myself Caucasian of Spanish descent, Cuban by birth, and American by nationality. How can the left promote celebrating a holiday that does not exist? The only unifying historical figure we have across national borders is Christopher Columbus who wasn't even Spanish, and the left has criminalized and practically deleted Columbus from history. Each Spanish Speaking country has their own national heroes, rarely do those figures cross national borders to other Spanish speaking countries. Those that do are often notorious such as El Che who tried to bring communism to all Latin America and has resulted in countless millions being displaced from their countries of origin, fleeing persecution, not exactly historical figure to celebrate if you are of Spanish speaking origin who came to America fleeing leftist persecution inspired by critters like El Che. American historical figures of Spanish speaking origin are probably completely unknown in the countries they or their parents or grandparents immigrated from. They belong more appropriately in American History than in the history of any Spanish speaking country. After all, their accomplishments occurred in America, thanks to the opportunities in America not available in their countries of origin. So what exactly are we supposedly celebrating on Hispanic Heritage Month doesn't exist in a single country of Spanish speaking origin? We are not one minority group, we are people of many different groups, backgrounds, nationalities, races, religions.... Some of European descent from many European countries, some of African descent from many different regions, some from many different Native Americans tribes, some from many different Asian countries, some Mulatos, some Creoles, some Mestizos, etc... How do you just group all these people into one group? Other than maybe the national origin of the country they come from.

I don´t even know where to start with the inaccuracies in this video. As somebody else pointed out in the comments. Christopher Columbus wasn't Spanish. When the Spaniards arrived in the 'New World' part of the land of course was already occupied by natives but the countries you are mentioning did not exist as such. Those countries were the outcome of the fusion between Spanish and native culture and people. The Spaniards were no angels but this 'romantic view' of the natives... to give you an example, the conquest of the Aztec Empire was carried out by a small percentage of Spaniards compared to the thousands of natives that helped them because they were oppressed by the Mexicas (Aztecs). The different processes of Independence in subsequent centuries were lead mainly by the offspring of the Spanish colonizers, not by the Indians. Please, document yourself, your video is utter nonsense.
