Once you've been Guzzi'd You're hooked. Still have my 1985 le mans 1000. Slow and ponderous by modern sportsbike standards, but beautiful and handles superbly on scarily thin tyres.

Now you have hit a nerve with me, not a bad nerve, but a wonderful nerve. I've had 3 Guzzis and taken a team to Bonneville several years when we set a handful of records. I had a '71 Ambassador Police bike, a 2001 Jackal, and a 2002 Stone Metal sidecar rig. I also ran the Moto Guzzi Correspondence List, put on several rallies, and my "Sheldon's EMU" (European Motorcycle Universe) has a huge Moto Guzzi section. The Stone Metal was the love of my life until I was forced to sell it in 2010 to cover medical bills. I put a Chinese Police Sidecar on it and then had the sidecar highly modified. With that red and chrome gas tank, red stripe and red snap-on tonneau on the sidecar it was quite the rig and took first place at several shows. It is probably the most loved of all my 50+ bikes over the years, and I dearly miss it. The last I heard, it was wandering around the Chicago area.

V11 owner here, also have owned an LeMans III and a V50 Monza. I always describe Moto Guzzi's as it would be the result of BMW, Ducati and Harley Davidson having a threesome. The Driveshaft and layout of a BMW Boxer, the aircooled pushrod V-twin like a Harley and the spicy character of an Italian Ducati. My V11 is assembly of metal parts that appears to have a soul. Love the thing.

Nice video, even if there are a few errors, for example, the "G.P." it was used until 15 March 1921, not until 1924, but 1921 when the Anonymous Company Moto Guzzi was born, the Prototype 'G.P.' was built in 1919, in the Giorgio Ripamonti Mechanical Workshop...

Compare flathead to overhead valve engines. Why did Chrysler stick with a flathead long after GM was building overhead valve engines?
