I skipped the BB gun but have the first rifle I ever fired when I was 10 years old, a .22 made in 1934 or thereabouts. My folks got it from the family friend when I turned 16 and he had sold his cottage. Only ever shot paper targets with it. My collection has grown and shrunk over the years but that little .22 means a lot to me. Have had it for 50 years.

Being a firearms owner and hunter we have dealt with this kind of thing before, BUT I am also an airgun enthusiast and own more airguns than real guns. I have a lot of money invested in airguns and this kind of BS has to stop! I can see the whole BB shooting replica guns, that has always been a slippery slope where replicas are prohibited but BB or pellet firing replicas were fine to own. Air rifles are not only for target and plinking but I hunt with mine and have break barrels only and from .177,.22, .25 and .30 calibres.

As for what to go to next, our city has banned the use/discharge of BB guns within city limits, for any purpose, including varmints. So now I can't even use it for that. Ont. has stated they won't go along with city handgun bans, but this is confusing. They sell bb guns in the CTC and wallet mart, yet can't shoot them? Saw one looks like a AR15. Under 500 fps. Not even going to grab one. Can they even do this, or can cities ban ammo sales, or bb gun sales?

Yeah I went to the wrong entrance at bruce power looking for their visitor center about 10 years back and there were about 8 guards in combat gear with m4's and handguns. As I understand it they had the equipment of a short handed mechanized infantry brigade complete with APC's with machine guns. They definately have more than words to deal with threats. Does this affect water guns too? Why do we have to keep spending time, money and energy every 10-15 years having to fight gun control and charter violations by the government???? Is the Charter the foundation of our legal system or is it not? and if its not then what is? Is our government able to just make up the law and change or ignore the charter when ever it feels like it without limit and if so than why do we even have the charter?

I don't see anything wrong with nuclear plants being guarded with lots and lots of guns. Fully auto .50mg....fine! But I should be able to have the right to defend my family in my house. Why is it ok to have the money going in and out of an ATM at a gas station guarded by multiple people with handguns in public??? It's ok to shoot someone with a restricted or even prohibited firearm in public by someone with MINIMAL training if they try to steal that money, but no way would it be ok to protect your family's lives with that same type of firearm in your own home from a violent attacker.

@@CL-pe4ll I have to push back on this one, I don't like the comparison. There is a deterrence factor with having the guns around, yes. But their actual function is for the guards to protect each other, not the money. They are displaying large quantities of something in public that people will kill for. They are extremely vulnerable for a few minutes as they load and or carry. Their sidearm is a last ditch tool for a guard to fight their way out of a suprise attack during the short time they are not protected by the truck. If the best option is to lose the money in a particular case, then there's no shame in doing so. It's just one parcel of many. They are also liable as a private citizen for every shot they fire, and do not have any sort of peace officer exemptions. I don't think they need to be thrown into this to make the point that our laws suck.

A municipality could potentially ban handguns. However, municipalities are in the dominion of the Provinces. Provinces have already said they won't allow this, Alberta and Saskatchewan if I recall correctly, and there may be more. Strictly speaking the Federal government doesn't have the mandate to allow municipalities to make by-laws criminal offences, but the current government seems to think otherwise. Keep your eyes on Runkle, I expect a video dedicated to this subject specifically. In short, doing this is a Constitutional cluster F%$k, and our federal government doesn't seem to mind spending god knows how much of our money trying to find a way to do it. I could be wrong about any or all of this, but this is my understanding at the moment.

I get the feeling that this bill is only a trial balloon....the Feds knowing full well it is bound to fail. As this move is bound to be seen as an intrusion into provincial jurisdiction. Plus, the monumental headaches it would cause at the municipal level. The real agenda I believe: The bill`s failure providing a plausible excuse to usher in a national handgun ban....which the Feds have been reluctant to impose, up until now. The negative political fallout likely too risky. Otherwise, they would have. The rationale: So there is a "uniform" set of rules across the country. Your thoughts on this too, Mr. Runkle?

As the LAR is now prohibited, the 10 round mags will be prohibited too? Now... if one has their 12.6, they should be okay to continue using LAR mags?

Canadian larger cities will ban handguns..period. Justin is spreading the blame. The German nazis during WWII used the same tactics..Nothing new..So than the real culprit had other names too in His own defense..

I've been telling you guys for ages. pull a "Quebec" It may wakes the rest of the country up. Scotland, Catalonia again questioning federalism. between places with different views not just ethnicity. You are not getting respect what you deserve after being the engine of the Canadian economy for decades. ,after the countless billions you paid into the federation. Shame.
