gun regulations by shrinking subsets that only go in one direction to the lesser is a maliciously abusive tactic that is cruel and unusual. There is no reason to ban airsoft. There is no reason to ban 32 caliber in a handgun. There is no reason to ban an AK47 but not an SKS. The laws applied to firearms have been arbitrary at best with a complete lack of backing of reason unless the reason has already been decided to remove them from society... which begs the question when will they ever reveal that they have made that decision in secret against the will of the people? Right now there is nothing you can do about the de-normalization of firearms ownership. The Liberals own the media, the education system, etc. "systemic liberalism" basically is why you can try to fight this for like a decade but one decade later your sport will be as dead as 3 gun. Unless someone points out the abusive nature of the government's regulations as being unconstitutional and unreasonable this will happen and because they own the education system and therefore the highest courts are filled with liberals.... well there's only 1 think left to say > you lose.

Criminals use airsoft weapons in crimes because they want their victim to play into the fear that comes with it. If you ban airsoft guns outright then you'll see firearm use in crime statistics increase. If the criminal can't get a firearm, then you'll see edged/blunt weapon use in crime statistics go up instead. More airsoft = less firearm deaths/lifelong injuries.

Thanks. This has been very insightful. I received an email from my local MP today stating the following: _Thank you for your email and I hope this email finds you well._ _I understand your concerns here regarding this matter, and how this could impact airsoft guns and their availability. This regulation aims to address the availability of BB guns that resemble real firearms, but fire projectiles that do not exceed 152 m/s in speed. We understand how airsoft play is an activity enjoyed by many Canadians, but these regulations aim to limit the availability of certain specific types of guns, and not the entire industry. Airsoft guns which fall below the 152 m/s threshold, and do not exactly resemble a genuine firearm, are exempted from this reality. We've seen instances of violent crime occurring with replica firearms which are used to intimidate Canadians. Law enforcement officials have detailed how replica firearms have been found in crime sites with increasing frequency, and the actual use of a firearm is not necessary when intimidating members of the community. Replica firearms are illegal already, and this regulation aims to fill in these gaps. I understand how these questions could arise, especially with an airgun enthusiast such as yourself. This regulation however, does not ban airsoft but does prevent certain airsoft models from being made._ _Thank you again for reaching out to me, and if you have any further questions feel free to reach out._ While I do appreciate the respectfulness, I'm am still very concerned with the insinuation of banning it without saying they are given that 90%+ plus of the market would fall under the new criteria. The same goes for certain other platitudes and what I assume is toeing the party line. Again your video shows that this statement is contradictory to the law changes. What do you and the others here make of this?

Can someone clarify what this means for current BB and Pellet gun replica owners not airsoft (pistals that are under 500 fps). If you are transporting them safely will you still be able to take them to a local range and use them for target practice like you can currently do now? Right now Bass Pro isn't selling airsoft pistols but they are still selling bb and pellet pistols. Thanks

It's really dissapointing how bad faith this all is. I was talking to many people who were discussing how people should be able to lock their guns at the range or something. To save the discussion from going into something like, well it would paint a big target on the range for many guns to steal. I kept it simple instead. I said "Well, because the liberals pushed these guns straight into prohibited category, that can't happen. They've went straight to criminalizing instead of having a discussion". That tends to convince most people who are on the fence, instead of having a long discussion about the semantics on the ban. As for the airsoft thing. I literally don't think I know a Canadian who is happy about that. They all are pretty in agreement that they're just toys and nothing more. I seriously don't know who they are trying to impress by banning airsoft except a very very vocal tiny minority of lobbyists at best. Even the some of the most gun-unfriendly states in this world have made special exceptions for realistic looking airsoft guns. The only two countries that really come to mind in terms of banning it were Australia and China.

China is loosening airsoft laws. There are now games in China. But the thing is that you have to store it in the game site and you can only use it in the game site. You can't bring it home.

Quick question for Ian. I noticed that people from airsoft/pellet gun community are trying to find ways to keep their toys. Some people, especially PAL holders are talking about upgrading air guns to meet firearm criteria. Question is, will those things be considered just non restricted or they would fall under multiple categories depending on what they look like, whether or not its a select fire etc. Also, what about magazine capacity? Same as firearm? Edit: watched another airsoft related video and found answers.

In Spain, they changed the weapons law to include airsoft and paintball guns in the firearms law. Right now is legal but there are problems, we have to register all the guns and renew it every five years ($$$) and you cant leave your city or municipality bcs the registration is only valid for your local town. Looks like they only make it quick to take more money from us.

It’s not specific enough. What makes an airsoft gun an replica. My ares striker AS01 doesn't have a real life counterpart however, it looks extremely real. Does this make it illegal or legal? And if a police catches you with it how can they make the decision If it directly replicates a gun or not. Also, what if my guns have orange tips on it? Is that illegal?

There is debate in the paintball community on how close " designed or intended to exactly resemble " applies to some paintball markers. I have been worried that the wording "intended" will allow a very broad interpretation that most things that try and look like an M4 will be caught up in the bans for example ( first-strike.ca/first-strike-arms-t15-paintball-gun/ )

If there’s one thing to unite the left and right, it would likely be this, no one should be without the ability to defend themselves or own a gun, especially not an air pistol or air rifle. Red flag law, sure, but if you’re not actively wanting to harm another person or yourself, This is seriously just being spiteful

Real simple apply the law and punish the criminals. If someone uses an airsoft gun in a robbery charge them to the full extent of the law. Possessing a replica should only be an offense if it used in a criminal act.

This outright would destroy the entire WW2 reenactment community, since we also do like to incorporate airsoft into our hobby. Our hobby relies on historical accuracy, meaning that airsoft rifles used have to look like the actual version. So, a Mauser Kar98k has to look like a real on, an MG42 has to look like the real one, an M1 Garand has to look like a real one, and so on and no orange tips. The biggest thing that removes the identical factor is that no aisoft version contains any markings on it such model number, etc. And the versions you can get here are generally marked with a sticker on the packaging that is has been manufactured for sale in Canada.
