With the whole Japan and South Korea legal battle and Jimin's shirt, the short version is that Japan lost a law suit and were forced to pay South Korea for Japan's actions while they occupied Korea during a war. They used Jimin as an excuse and canceled BTS' appearance in Japan in retaliation. So that people would understand that Jimin and his shirt weren't actually the problem, 20 Korean/English bi-lingual ARMYs got together and created a 166 page report in both languages to explain the background of the political climate and the implications of the result of the law suit.

Yeah Japan commited awful atrocities during ww2. It was suppressed through a treaty as a requirement in order for Japan to surrender. They were as bad as Hitler with their experiments just no one knew due to the suppression. Japan was especially horrendous to the Korean people during their colonization. 💜

Yeah, the shirt Jimin was wearing was from a Korean brand of clothing that uses pictures from history books for the designs. It was a shirt celebrating Korea's independence from Japanese occupation. 🤷‍♀

With the shirt incident, yeah, it was a political statement on that shirt that linked Korean independence with the horrific bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki by the allies which signalled the end of the long and brutal Japanese colonial occupation of Korea. The shirt was worn at the same time as a highly politicised legal case in which Japan was ordered to pay reparations to Korea, so the shirt incident became a vehicle/scapegoat for channelling political tensions and resentments in Japan around the decision. Personally I think Jimin's stylist was silly to choose the shirt to wear, but the situation was blown way out of proportion by the media and just ended up being an excuse to bring to the surface already existing Korean-Japan tensions at the time

@@sophiealka3431Jimin reportedly wrote that shirt more than a year before the court ruling for reparation to Korea. The shirt was just an excuse the extreme conservatives in Japan used to keep BTS from performing in Japan.

and they did a doctorate worthy paper, called The White papers. The rich gov of Japan talked people into believe it was about disrespect, when it was really about money. Japan didn't want to pay the reparation to Korea they were ordered to pay. Kinda of like america, there are a class of rich republicans that tell lies to foolish people here to make them fear things, just to keep getting richer while the poor , undereducated get poorer and poorer.

Oh, we know what the "other group" was whose fans were causing issues, but xceleste chose to censor it because the fans of that particular group were VERY awful to BTS and ARMY, and to this day there is still a lot of bad blood. So...censored to avoid sparking another fan war.

Unfortunately this video is just the tip of an iceberg...The vitriol that ARMY and BTS have been subjected to year after year is unbelievable. At one point, if you were an ARMY in South Korean, you had to hide it. Bullies who were fans of other groups were harassing and even physically attacking ARMYs. (2015,16,17) They would also get an ARMY's personal information and release it online encouraging others to harrass them. It was so sad. There was nothing we as international ARMY could do other than just calling out the behaviour online. Because BTS were treated so badly, we ARMY determined that we would make them so successful that no one would be able to treat them that way again....and we have..and they still get tons of crap but at least they are successful enough now that they don't have to subject themselves to it. I was part of a team that organized accounts in the US to request BTS to be played on the radio starting back in 2017. You would not even believe the shit DJs and radio programmers, station managers, etc said to us. You have no idea what ARMY has put themselves through in an attempt to protect BTS. However, I want to say that that is absolutely no excuse for any person calling themselves and ARMY to attack, put down, bully, etc another human being. That is the opposite of what we as ARMY try to do. We try to spread love and positivity just like BTS. In fact, anyone who does those kinds of hurtful things may call themselves an ARMY but no one else does. There is a saying in the fandom that ARMY are the face of BTS. Everything we do is reflected back on them whether it is good or bad. Therefore, we try to make sure that we always show a good face to the world. However, when you have somewhere between 40 and 90 million fans from every country in the world, there are going to be bad apples. There is no avoiding it. It is just statistics. However, I would like to think that the overwhelming majority are good apples. If you would like to watch some more informative type videos about subjects involving BTS, check out a KZbin channel called Boracity Magazine. They make great video essays. Thanks again.

It's a very dishonest tactic that artists companies would do to make their artist songs go up the Charts. They send people out to the shops (stores for Americans) to buy the records so it would count as points for the Music Charts. Of course it's silly as they've already paid to have the albums made, spent money on getting them transported to shops and then they pay again to buy them off the shop shelves. Think about what a waste of money and the company didn't even have any money to be able to do that. The whole thing was a complete lie and smare campaign to discredit BTS and the BigHit. They eventually went to court to prove they didn't have money to buy their own albums off the shop shelves and won the case.

no that press conference was to talk about their NEW album release. The journalist belonged to another KPOP entertainment company and he bascially turned BTS new album release into something else but asking about a previous album release. So Suga did the correct thing and said 'it's in the hands of the lawyers'.

The Kpop agencies shouldn't have used BTS as their example they shot themselves in the foot basically trying to use BTS. The same BTS who always said they would serve, the same BTS who were not invited to the Kpop companies little discussion. The same BTS who were not asked if they wanted to be used as the example.

20:09 When BTS does the Global Press Conference, it’s for their upcoming/new album, so media/journalists from around the world can travel there in person to ask questions about the album. So to ask about plagiarism allegations from 2-3 years ago, it’s random and rude because it has nothing to do with their new album. Not only that, seems like that guy who asked is connected to YG (one of the big 3 companies). It’s like as if on purpose just to stir up controversy or make them look bad for their comeback. SM and YG seem to have no problem using tactics to sabotage BTS, so to lower the threat of their success to their own groups’ numbers/sucess. Everytime new and big things are about to happen for BTS, like clockwork, suddenly fake scandals/controversy come out of nowhere.

That group, whose fan called Melon, was EXO. Most of the hate came from this groups fandom around those years. When I joined ARMY, I got alot of comments in various platforms with disgusting opinions. I was shocked as I was new to KPop. Even now we occasionally see the hate but BTS is BTS and we mostly ignore them. It's a shame, i hear EXO is a good group but most of us never listen to them.

That's an interesting perspective. I, also, don't listen to other KPop groups and, if I really examine that, it has a lot to do with the fan groups. It's unfortunate that what they do in the name of love for their chosen group actually hurts that group in the long run. Don't think I will ever understand spending your energy and time choosing to hate. Just support the group you love in a positive way.

I'm pretty early in to watching this reaction, but you're already asking the "why" question in terms of the accusations they were getting in Korea. I wanted to try to at least in brief explain. When we state that BTS did not come from one of the "Big 3" k-pop companies, that is a much more significant statement than you might think. The Big 3, at that time especially, basically ruled Korean media. They held a lot of sway with the broadcasting stations who ran the various shows, interviews, etc. that idols would go on. Artists from the Big 3 companies were given preferential treatment. Despite coming from a very small company, BTS were quite successful quite quickly ... so it is my opinion that in addition to the typical fan wars, there was a concerted effort to suppress them by the other labels. I believe that is also why they were often so blatantly mistreated on Korean variety shows or asked really ridiculous, inappropriate questions during broadcast interviews. For instance, as it mentions at one point in this video, during a press conference the reporter who asked the question about plagiarism was a reporter who works for a different label.

20:08 army correct me if i'm wrong, but i remember bts holding a press conference whenever a new album was coming out or before a world tour. i think that's where that reporter who was allegedly from a competing music entertainment company brought up the question about plagiarism, which has be proven to be not a problem. the french artist of the original art used as the prime example said he was happy that his art inspired more art. 23:30 I sound old saying this but I remember when weverse used to be weply hahaha. 26:46 people who have received military exemptions from the mandatory military service were athletes or classical musicians or etc, basically people who made huge accomplishments that is celebrated nationwide like the olympics and such. this was all even before bts existed lol. tbh, in my opinion, i think bts has made a huge impact for korea considering even korean politicians bring up bts to connect with other country politicians because bts is so well known. but it's past the point because bts decided for themselves to just go to the military instead of letting the government squabble with each other on whether or not kpop idols can get exempt or not haha. 29:15 i always have to add a bit about this because this image was released when there was a lot of violent hate crimes towards asian people going on in the news. it was very jarring. 32:02 a great example of how "karma is an army". i've seen two clips of anne hegerty on british game shows where she had to answer two bts questions. one she got and one she didn't get. so they had to be important enough for her to have some knowledge of them after all hahaha tbh it's impossible to get all the hate that bts gets in one video, but this gave good examples. oh a funnier take on silly hate comments is that video series called "karma is an army" lol. oh and as someone else has noted, boracity has good video essays on bts related stuff with context and references. i don't agree with her 100% but i do agree on most of her points lol.

@@evantesseract737 We are currently dealing with many trying to rewrite history or downplay how bad it was during that time for bts. Newer fans to those groups imo who weren't there at the time are given a very watered down g rated version of things from older fans especially international fans when on the korean fan side it was way more hostile environment then they are lead to believe. Also as certain events are taking place at present we are seeing the tactics that most army have long suspected which is some of the Big 3 companies paying for the fabricating of controversies in the press to tarnish others reputations and the instigation of fan wars to control public perceptions. They are so focused on tearing down others to climb back on top they are blinded by their jealousy and greed rather then focusing on themselves instead.

7:40 So about the "m-i-s-o-g-y-n-i-s-t" lyrics & the controversy...let me clear the misunderstanding k-popies & some ARMYs hv..this was blown out of proportion by h@ters & Antis to create drama that time, which worked cuz k-popies & media latched on it... *This is going to long a$$ comment* Let's be real, War of Hormones wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. They were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl, *and guess what? That's just being honest.* 👁️👄👁️ The title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. A war. An internal conflict. And it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. Bangtan has always been about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age. The entire album, Dark & Wild, was really just about the turmoils of young adulthood. In the title of the album too, you can already tell what the sentiment was going to be. The first 3 albums spoke about school and issues of teens. And then from there, the darker days of coming to terms with adulthood. And then the HYYH series. Everything was thematic with stories they wanted to tell as they go through life. Antis and fans of other groups were just grasping at straws to find something to shit on and unfortunately the media picked up on it and then some ARMY took it as truth and they themselves started talking as if the song was offensive. It isn't. We need to stop spreading this story as if BTS were misogynistic boys who needed to learn a lesson. Yes, Namjoon has learned a lot from the experience and has gone out of his way to speak to experts in women's studies, but I'm sure that whole ordeal also caused him unnecessary pain. *Now, My personal take on this:* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced. A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. *But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”* it's freaking mistranslation, if you don't belive me ask any korean, not only k-army but any Korean.. it was done to sabotage BTS's career..💀 BTS hv made few mistakes unknowingly early in their career and said things which can be considered offensive, as they were young but they hv re-educated themselves, apologized and never repeated the mistakes again..but I hv seen many k-popies and so called Multi Armys twisting many things because of that..take for example this song.. it's blown out of the proportion just to cause drama..and they were sadly successful in that..haters/antis tried every lil thing to bring BTS down & sabotage their career ngl.. *Now last but not the least* ..when this controversy happened, When joon apologized, The one thing that struck me about that was a part in the statement saying they took so long to apologize because they wanted to understand what exactly was the issue... And that part I definitely liked, I've never been a fan of blanket apologies.. BTS always try to understand the problem & try to improve..joon apologized because as the controversy was over "ppl were offended", he apologized for the ppl who were offended by this song, that doesn't mean the song was wrong, he was kind enough to take responsibility for it, ofc bighit & BTS took this issue (which was blown out of proportion) and apologized so that this unwanted drama surrounding the song would end (isn't that common sense) he sincerely apologised..but that doesn't mean that WOH is misogynist or objectifying women..like the title itself clears it out! "War of hormones" what ppl expected form this song to be like seriously?! Ppl who still want to believe that WOH is objectifying women are really dumb for me..like be practical..that's all i can say🤷🏻‍♀️ *I'm out* 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️

If BTS were part of big 3 (k-pop companies) they would definitely not gotten so much h8 & it's a fact know in industry... all this started cuz they were not from big 3, overpowering a popular group from big 3 at that time..to be specific EXO and Big Bang..so EXO-Ls and VIPs were the biggest h8ters of BTS..still are😂 including blinks and millions of other fandom.. kpopies hv always been like this towards BTS and ARMY..and ppl wonder why majority of ARMYs are not multi stans 🚶🏻‍♀️ The story of BTS is really atypical of K-pop in general. BTS began to gain strength internationally before in Korea, in fact when the Korean industry realized what was happening with BTS it was already too late and they had already begun their rise. The irony of all this is that it was precisely the mistreatment and attacks by the industry, the media and the Kpop fandoms that gave the strength to ARMY to undertake their own fight to support the boys, the fandom understood that the The only way to protect them was to make them so big that they were untouchable. ARMY began with translations, raising funds to pay for advertising screens, articles in magazines, paying for KZbin Adds but in this case, since it could not be with official material from the boys, it was done by directing them to BTS fancams, they began to organize in block international fanbases for voting on programs and competitions, raise funds to sponsor the purchase of music for fans who did not have the resources, support the reactions of KZbin channels ETC ETC ETC Everything exploded with the Billboard 2017 when BTS won their first award in the USA because this gave them a huge boost that attracted many new fans, which gave even more strength to ARMY to continue giving everything for the boys. So the reason that BTS is this huge is cuz nor the k-pop industry or the mediaplay helped them unlike “big 3” company groups.. ARMYs are the reason that helped BTS in their journey..it was like a grassroot movement made by fans💜

They Kpop Companies wanted their artist to be included in the exemptions that medal winning sportmen got and classical musican got. They used BTS as the example however BTS and Bighit were not invited to the conversation the Kpop companies were having neither were they asked if they could use BTS as the example. It kind of back fired on them using BTS as their example because there was a change in the law but it only effects BTS. The new law says Kpop artist can defer their military service until the age of 30 rather that 28 but they have to hold the Cultural Merit Award. The only Kpop artists to hold that very prestiage ward are all 7 members of BTS. The new law became known as the BTS Law. Those Kpop companies were not happy saying 'it was too hard to achieve and unfair.' and petitioned the government to change the law back to 28years of age again which the government didn't do the law still stands. Only 3 members of BTS have used the law the other 4 entered their military service earlier than they were required to so they can all be back together as group in June 2025.

1 more eta then I'm done! Lol. Just want to say, sorry that you got angry, we didn't recommend it to upset you, but knowing all this about BTS & their struggle is important because it helps explain why BTS & army have a really strong bond and why it's a little more personal than your standard para social relationship 😊 💜 Eta: 25:53 south Korean athletes (Olympiads mostly) and some classical musicians etc can get an exemption from serving. The public thought BTS should also be allowed exemptions especially since they bring in more $$ than the Seoul Olympics did. BTS and big hit never asked for 1 and always said they'd serve. A bill was passed allowing kpop idols to get an extension but they have to have been nominated for the order of cultural merit. BTS is the *only* kpop group to get that award. Companies got pissed, because that award is the highest medal one can get with regards to art & culture. It's a prestigous award that is difficult to get. So the companies were upset because they thought it was unattainable for them. Which so far is true lol. All of BTS are currently serving in the military and will be out at various points in 2025 6:31 it just means companies buy their own groups albums to make it look like fans bought them. Boosts album sales so they can chart and look good. But big hit was near bankruptcy and couldn't do that if they wanted to, which they would never. Because kpop is highly competitive and the way things are calculated out there, fans freak out sometimes. The majority of kpop fans are teens, BTS is different because they have fans of all ages. Fans out there vote and stream and buy songs and albums. That plus live voting and executive votes are how you win music shows. BTS wasn't from the big 3 top kpop companies, and because of this they were not taken seriously, no one outside of the big 3 ever did what BTS did. Many fans of other groups thought they had to be cheating to get so popular, because BTS got more famous internationally 1st so the other fans didn't understand how they were doing it all. Subbed btw, I like that you're genuine 💜 Eta: you asked what we thought about tae (V ) singing that song. The song was called loser by big bang, and that band was also up for the same award but BTS won. They were a much bigger group than BTS too. Tae is/was a huge fan of big bang and would never disrespect him. He showed receipts proving he listened to their song loser every night before bed. Tae's kinda a goofball and I mean that in the best way possible. He didn't even think at the time that it would look bad he just sang cause he was excited. I believe him ofc Eta: the misogyny was mildly objectifying but really it was nothing but I appreciate and love how they handled it. So much better than any artist I've ever seen It was rm who was missing 15:57 the group mostly talked about aside from big bang was exo. Exo fans were rly upset over BTS success and were not great to us or BTS at that time. No hate just answering his question 😬

We are that protective for our bangtans. BTS, however, are better human beings than all of us. They actually collaborated or appeared together with artists connected with those incidents, apparently in good terms. In such cases, ARMY supports goes to bangtan, without regards of the other person. We are only here to support bangtans.

I mentioned this not too long ago that it seems to just scratch the surface without giving a fuller picture and is a bit too careful with it's wording. I understand why because she didn't want to set anyone from those other fandoms off (it really doesn't take much to do that it's like walking on eggshells) I get censoring the names but my thing is the context of the situations not being better explained. Like the reporter who was known to work one of the big 3 asking that at a press conference for their brand new album asking that about an older album. She left out that the French artists' work that was used to accuse them of plagiarism just a few days later came out saying the reporter brought that up of his own accord, the French artists didn't know about it or make any accusations, that he didn't think it was copying his work but he would feel very glad if it inspired bts in some way.

South Korea does exempt some from mandatory military service. But athletes and artists can get exemptions if they are seen to have promoted national prestige, for example by winning certain international or national awards, an Olympic medal or a gold medal at the Asian Games. This is something you might want to listen or read about. BTS has never tried to get out of doing their service and have always stated they would do their service. Like they all are currently 😢 It was a big mess and appeared that the government would consider exempting the men if they were basically pawns of the South Korean government.. at least that is how i feel. I am sure someone can explain it alot better than i tried. I just wanted to say i appreciate your outrage on how they were treated because it wasnt and isnt fair. They have got to where they are literally by their own blood, sweat and tears. We miss our 7. If you react.. we will watch. It makes it not as hard. It doesnt matter how many times we have seen it. South Korea allows exemptions from military service for athletes, classical musicians, and...get this...video gamers 😭 who win certain international awards. But pop musicians are not included. So even though BTS has very obviously done more for their country than most of these other people...and *obviously* deserve an exemption, they could never have gotten one without a law change. Lawmakers dragged their feet over it because while most of them were probably fine with exempting BTS, they didn't want to open the door to exempting any *other* pop artists. 🙄 BTS never even asked for an exemption...it was all the other labels pushing for it using BTS as the standard in the hopes that it would set a precedent for their own artists. BTS got tired of being jerked around and just went ahead and enlisted while the lawmakers were still arguing about it, lol. The "BTS law" she references allowed for postponement but not exemption of service, and was technically applicable to all pop artists, but the labels filed a complaint saying it was unfair because the award you had to have received to qualify for it is a very prestigious award it would be nearly impossible for their artists to ever receive. BTS had already set a record for being the youngest recipients ever.

Saejagi means when an agency buys their own albums so it looks like others bought them to win award. That’s why they said Big Hit was so bankrupt, that it was impossible for this to be true. I can’t stand seeing radio or tv hosts interview BTS because they ask questions that are not really relevant. 1 did a great one on one interview with the group. There are a few ARMY - not like me - I like Jimmy Fallon I love, Graham Norton, and omgosh, it shows him in this video. I have comments, and will try to find this video again tomorrow if possible. I don’t think the lyrics were misogynistic at all esp when you compare it to other group or solo artists. I love the song though it shows how much they think and do now. The *** Stan ( fan) I won’t mention the group felt that the group they liked should have won and even took the time to call the award customer service to say BTS shouldn’t have won, and the customer service agent was explaining the difference between what she calculated and what was real. He was polite, but for her to even call saying they were wrong in calculating that BTS won shows how much hate these fans wanted to see BTS fail for the call part you didn’t understand. Basically, jealousy. Oh, I just saw someone mention the group. It’s just maddening how it still is going on. I don’t even watch the Grammy (Scammys) anymore and I was so mad the 1st time they kept putting BTS off until the end. I did tune into their Vlive (now on Weverse) and enjoyed every moment! Those are only some of the hardships they have encountered, there are many fans to this day that have not forgotten or forgiven that man for being so rude to Jungkook about the food he brought as he said they lookedvlike leftovers. You won't see the other group's names in most of the materials made by the ARMYs. There's no point in doing that as it would only create more hate and no artist can control every fan. Sometimes people are immature and cruel. Most of us know the names of the fandoms in question, it's easy to check them out, but there's really no point in highlighting their names. The part that got you confused is deeply rooted in the history and politics between Korea and Japan. To put it shortly: at one time, Japan lost the case over the war reparations for the war crimes against Korean people. (I'm not gonna explain it further here, but a lot of terrible things happen to the Koreans back then. Look it up, if you're interested, but be warned that you'll be delving into really dark but important topics.) Shortly after, BTS became a scapegoat in the Japanese media to the point when people were trying to paint Japan as the victims of n*zism when it was the other way around. It's important to notice here that the backlash was made by the right-wing nationalists and there were many people in Japan, especially Japanese ARMYs that saw it for what it was - a power play. That press conference was about another album, but the "journalist" was a plant from the competitor's label and tried to stir sh*t up. Yeah, basically people get angry when BTS are being celebrated, because they tried everything in their power to marginalize them and it still wasn't enough. I get that it was hard to watch but now you get where the overprotectiveness comes from in the fandom. Plus, it's important to be reminded that love and respect are stronger than hate. PS. As I've mentioned earlier, if you want something to "detox" after all of this, you should check out some funny compilations as well (next to their music ofc.). Some of the most popular channels that rarely miss when it comes to humor are: sugarmyy, kookiestaetas, jinnieeats and guccitae. Take care 💜

the guys on radio that made rude statements, are no lnger in the business. One of them apologized a couple years ago, but BTS, Big Hit and ARMY ignored him. The big 3 understood how good they were and that Big Hit gave much more control to their artists than they did. The big 3 didn't want to give up their strict control over artists, so they did and do everything they can to discredit BTS and individual members. Most ARMY's just laugh at their haters. I think V was inappropriate, taking attention from the winners. But not on purpose and his apology was the right thing to do. V is kind of awkward socially, so makes a few mistakes. We love V and understand how kind and sweet he is, but people who are not fans sometimes misunderstand. The hamburger incident makes me cry. that big fat guy kisses their butts now. I forgive, but not forget. Dude, it makes us all upset. but ARMY protects them and fires back. We are always ready to defend them, and most of us use facts and try kindness and to be positive.

In South Korea, from what I heard, if you know how to pull some strings and have the power and position to pull those strings, you can be exempted from serving in the military. The current president never served allegedly due to some mysterious tooth ailment and the current minister of defense never did too his excuse being some eye ailments. (Please someone correct me I don’t have time to double check). Similarly in Singapore, powerful families have their children serving in office positions, and other “cushy” military placements. In the other video (Rice Squad intro?) you heard a member saying a first position on billboard is like representing Korea in the Olympics and won gold. But pop artists aren’t taken seriously there. Or anywhere come to think of it. There may be elitism there too where lifting the nation’s name as criteria for exemptions is but an excuse used by those with the political and social clout to take their own sons out of the military service. They don’t really care about rewarding those who assist in the increasing profile of their country in the world.

Japan got upperty about it so decided to hit back the only way they could eg attack one of their kpop groups who was about to be interviewed by Japanese media. Then suddenly a photo of a BTS member was used to attack BTS a Korean Kpop band. That photo had part of the T-Shirt blown up it was part of Korea's celebration of their freedom from occupation from Japan. Remembrance of the end of world war 2. The Japanese didn't like that it had the atomic bomb on it eg the 2 bombs the USA dropped on Japan that finally put an end to world war 2.

the military issue is that the entertainment companies in Korea wanted an exemption but the name BTS never asked for an exemption. army wanted them to be exempt because of their contribution but people kept using their names. so Jin was the first qualified to go and because they did not want special privileges they decided on their own to go. so people and their governments stop using their names BTS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EXEMPTION, MOST OF your question is in the video but you have to pay attention. they are all serving right now and doing well in their duty. always remember. BTS. company was small company and the rich and successful company did not want them to succeed. so they put all obstacle in their way. Suga easily could have got one because of his shoulder but still chose to serve in a support function in the armies welfare department as he is not actually medically fit to carry the heavy equipment in training due to his recent shoulder opperation. BTS last time I checked had a market share that was equal to that of all the rest of kpop put together. It represented 0.3 % of Koreas gross National product. Yet ... they never used that clout. So he had always talked about his grandmother and how close he was with her and losing her hit him enormously hard and he wanted to explain why he had been so sad during tour. The thing with the military revision is that all these companies petitioned for a revision to benefit them, so their artists don't lose revenue going into the military at the height of their careers. They were using BTS popularity and the income they brought into S Korea as their main argument and example, even though BTS was not involved in this petition and had never spoken about wanting any exemptions and said they would indeed serve. So the government did end up making a revision, but it was only for those who have been nominated for the cultural medal. Basically, prior to BTS, only artists with long careers have won this, people far past their military service years. BTS are the only ones to be recommended for it and be awarded it before they did their service. They are the youngest ever recipients. So then the companies complained that the law was just for BTS and was unfair. Ultimately, the members did not use the revision and went into the military before age 30 except for Jin, the eldest. In fact, they did what no other KPop group has ever done, and all went around the same time so they would get out around the same time, which means the younger members forfeited years of their own time in their careers to prioritize the group and ARMY, even though they had all just released albums which were bringing them record breaking global success. The only groups that have gone all at the same time before are groups who are all the same exact age and had to go at the same time.

The other group stans were those of EXO. From what I can see, stans of EXO are among the most if not THE most aggressive in their bullying of BTS and ARMY because EXO was “groomed” to take over as the next generation “it” boy group in the kpop group after Big Bang. Perhaps it is no coincidence that stans of Big Bang is next in line in terms of their aggressions towards BTS. It is almost as if they felt like BTS stole something that rightly belongs to them. I always wonder if our venture into kpop and other Korean Waves inevitably exposes us to the reality of how toxic the Korean culture is. No one and no culture is perfect. But where as in the world a lot of us are familiar with, underdogs who are fighting to make it and who are crawling up are cheered and championed, it seems in Korea they are punished for being “pretenders”.

In the late 1800’s, Japan colonized Korea and were absolutely brutal to the Korean people. Japan lost Korea after WWII. What they were talking about here was a recent Korean court ruling finding Japan guilty of war crimes, specifically around the use of “comfort women.” These were Korean women that the Japanese enslaved for sex. What happened to these women, a few of whom are still alive today, is still a hot issue in Korean. The court levied a huge fine on Japan that was meant (in part at least) to pay the victims and their families. Japan got all butt-hurt over the ruling and canceled all BTS’s appearances there. They used the excuse of Jimin wearing a tshirt highlighting the Korean Liberation. ARMY scholars came together to source all of the primary documents from WWII that prove the atrocities the Japanese committed during the colonization. They published a white paper of their findings in both Korean and English. It’s an interesting read.

Right now antis are trying to rile up solo fans making up lies that individual members are misreated with unfair treatment by the company. Trying to create competition between members. Saying they should leave BTS. All in attempt to break the block votes that dominate award voting. The fact some real fans actually fall for it is sad. American fans are more vulnerable as they are more prone to believing this because of a divided individualistic society. Despite every member of BTS stating clearly they are happier together. Have negotiated new individual contracts. Also they do not need to split to achieve artistic autonomy as they have always been encouraged and supported for solo projects. V even acted in a Kdrama series, Hwarang. They even chose to live together for approx 8 years. The reporter was an ambush situation. However BTS had discussed this as attacks are not unusual for them given repeated attemps by the industry old guard to sabotage them. More info ...BORACITY WHY THE INDUSTRY IS TERRIFIED OF BTS. She brings recipts.

exo, bigbang, blackpink.. most of the hate came from this groups fandoms. 20:13 this conference was for their new album "map of the soul: persona" in 2019. all the reporters asked questions regarding this album, but this reporter randomly asked about "wings" plagiarism accusations, they released "wings" in 2016 and it had nothing to do with the new album and this conference🤦🏻‍♀️ after this conference, army found the name of this reporter on the news page of yg entertainment (one of the big3), blackpink's agency. 27:52 these agencies got angry because they weren't sure that their groups could reach the level of bts to receive this award, they even called it "bts law". but these agencies themselves used bts as an example, so it’s their own fault))

Actually, for mandatory military service, bts and bighit were never lart of those agencies who asked for kpop idols to excempt from militarty service, yet bts was used just because they were globally famous(bts never asked for excempt and said they'll serve when being called in the right time) So when givernment agreed with those agencies who asked for militart exception, and proposed a law saying kpop idols can get their service postponed with one condition, and that condition is, the idols must be recommended for the cultural merit by government Those agencies were outraged because, the only band that was recommended for the merit was bts, so they felt that govt was being biased But any idol who received that cultural merit can get their service postponed But only bts have received it till now

V sang the song loser by bigbang yes, it can be interpreted as mocking but if you listen to the song it is actually about calling yourself a loser.. so if he is singing it its not like hes calling other people losers. . again you can interpret it like it but it's not the same has singing "we are the champions, you are the losers" I personally don't think that it was a good move but its also unproportional to come after him because of it 🤷‍♂️

With military thing they used BTS, so pop artist could be exempt from militry. Yes, there ate classical musicans and atleths that have lawcto exempt if they are vwry goid, and we talk like highest national awards or prestige world awards... So it isn't for everyone that is good, you have to be top of the top, active too. And bc BTS was band that had the most awarts in korea and global, all this people used BTS name so Ministry would make similar lawcfir pop artist.... But like said in video they devided to give posponment to bands that have medal and are recomended by ministry and in reality only BTS had this medal, and there is literally no way that someone rlse will get it. So it become loke "BTS law" bc inly they could use this new law. And this is postponment not exeption. So yes, people were hating at BTS bc they had two more years before they had to go. Bc you have to go between 18 and 28 to do your servise. And this new law only changed that they could go up to 30. Nothing more. So hate was so stupid...

Ultimately the Exols did so much damage to Exo with their shenanigans. They bashed every single thing BTS did and went on and on endlessly about how they didn't want nor need any of the awards and accolades BTS was getting, like overseas, and that these things were for losers who could not make it in the East. Which is, of course, ridiculous. Ultimately, SM didn't promote Exo in the west or do tours there. They had a couple shows and didn't sell well due to poor timing, planning and marketing by SM and then never went back. It would not be a surprise if SM was influenced by the incredibly vitriolic and overwhelming tide of hate from Exols and decided Exo's fanbase didn't want that. Exols also pushed for boycotts of the major award shows in S Korea when BTS kept winning awards and decided not to vote because "Exo didn't need those stupid awards anyway" even though they previously had bashed BTS for not having as many awards as Exo and being losers. It was so hateful for fans of a group with literally THE BIGGEST COMPANY behind them, the music mafia in S Korea who had their hands in everyone's pockets and influence everywhere, to go after these broke, disadvantaged teenagers who were just busting their asses for their art. The saddest part is that this kind of crap keeps the idols from being able to be friends, and none of it is their fault. At the end of the day, they are all just kids in the same business. But Exo is a solid group and has still had a really good amount of success for a KPop group, by pre-BTS standards. Exo, or any group from a big company, including Hybe groups now, doesn't really have a chance to do what BTS did, because part of their appeal is their ultimate underdog story, and the hardships that shaped them, and making it not just on their own, but despite all the enormous obstacles and pressures pitted against them. They have a counter corporate story. BTS is like a diamond formed under pressure. Plus, they are super unique in how they were formed, in how rough and off the street they were, how quickly they debuted because Big Hit ran out of money to train them and had to debut them, and the characters of all the guys and how open and honest and raw they have always been with us in ways other labels just don't allow, or how they have always written and produced their own music and told their own stories, or their insane musical diversity, or the layered depth of their storytelling with their album series and the BU, or how they had to manage their own social media because there was no money or setup for media managers and that meant they were interacting more directly with ARMY and building a relationship like no other group has, etc. Others who take up "authenticity" as a brand will stink of fakeness unless it's real authenticity, and most other labels just don't have Bang PD's courage and vision to let their artists be artists. Other groups who try to copy BTS' format and depth of storytelling will just be "doing the thing BTS did" instead of their own thing. There are a lot of factors at play in why Exo didn't get bigger than they are, including market dynamics, SM mismanagement and unfortunately timed military enlistment for Exo just when things were heating up for KPop thanks to BTS, but they have still had a good career and a lot of success. It's nothing compared to BTS, but no one can really be compared to BTS. They are in their own galaxy at this point. S Korea made them political envoys and put them on the damn stamps, a first for a living artist. Being BTS is not really a benchmark anyone else can expect to hit. Exols used to bash BTS for saying Big Bang were their idols, saying "Set your sights a little lower kids. You'll never reach that status." lol

I'm almost 100% sure that is EXO. Another idol group. There was 'Correction' is still fanwars going on with some exo-ls and army. Some exo-l's and army can be very toxic but I know some fans of both idols who are mature and friendly. I guess every fandom has these 'Toxic fans' which I'm very dissapointing in both of them. I'm army and I love EXO's personality and music. If someone other than your favs win, be sportif and congratulate them, just like our idols do with one another.
