I just looked at all the nominees, what a lazy compilation. They basically just decided "these are the worst 5 movies, so every category will be something from the same 5 movies." And I'm not trying to defend the Joker movie, it was absolute ass, but it wasn't ass because of Joaquin Phoenix, he was fine, he's always been a great actor. It was ass because it was an ass movie.

Whilst I do find the notion of what is essentially the anti-Oscars to be amusing in and of itself, I think my biggest problem is when a movie is considered popular to trash on, they often deem certain actors/directors guilty by association, when that's sometimes not entirely fair (Joker 2 for example was rather lame, but I don't think Joaquin Phoenix or Lady Gaga were bad in it).

What a joke of an event. Let’s ridicule people that tried something or took a risk. The only one you mentioned that I thought “yeah that performance is deserving of ridicule with a silly award” was dakota johnson in madame web. A situation that feels more like an actor thinking they’re above the content of a project but not above the paycheck, and that bleeds through on screen. Comparing Borderlands & Megalopolis for “bad directing” is so fucking absurd, too.

I am going to push back on the Razzie hate here. It definitely has a place in showcasing the worst that Hollywood has made and having good fun with it. Paul Verhoeven showed up to his award and made a speech to boot. “I always learned that if you can't be a good loser, then you don't deserve to be a good winner. So I went there and made fun of myself. The audience gave Verhoeven two standing ovations after he told them he was driven out of the Netherlands for being "sick and perverted and disgusting. other people who showed up their "awards" Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock, I didn't realize that, in Hollywood, all you had to do was say you'd show up, and then you'd get the award. If I'd known that, I would have said I was appearing at the Oscars a long time ago." Bullock also brought DVD copies of All About Steve to the audience, declaring that the voters should watch the movie to see if she was really the worst performer, implying that the Razzie voters cast ballots for her based solely on her indications that she might appear at the ceremony.

Bryce Dallas Howard deserves to win Worst Actress for Argylle. I walked out of that movie after 30 minutes-there was nothing redeeming about any of the characters. However, while Dakota Johnson wasn’t great in Madame Web, she was funny as hell and, honestly, kind of sexy. So she’s forgiven. In fact, I’d even watch a Madame Web sequel if she reprised the role, just because her unique personality makes her fun to watch.

I don't understand how sometimes movies can be absolute dog shit trash **ahem** The crow reboot, madam web, borderlands, night swim, imaginary, joker 2 full of doo doo, kraven the hunter, Red One, megaflopalis. It baffles me that movies are dog crap Why, How, What's the reason?! IMO the Razzies have always been lame, just a bunch of bitchy gossip columnists with an embarrassing sense of humor, and the movies they go after have almost always already failed and been dragged through the mud anyway. I will concede they were at least novel in the 80s and 90s, even if I strongly feel they were never funny or clever, but now they are truly pointless; last I heard they don't even hold the actual ceremony any more!
