Fun fact: those triangle panels in the black and white gingham dress are known as godets. If you want to make a super swooshy skirt, this is one way to add fullness.

@@guiniveretoo A gored skirt is made up of many panels (gores) to give it fullness as opposed to a circle skirt or a skirt that's just a front and back piece. Godets are inset like how Rachel's skirt is, so not the same but they both make more fullness

Hi Rachel! So…since the pandemic I’ve been working from home. I work for a bank in what we call “back office”, so no customer contact, which makes for a pretty boring job. What makes my job enjoyable is the daily interaction with my work mates….and I haven’t seen any of them in person for over a year. We are a pretty close group and it’s had such a negative impact on me. I’m being told that our office may open up in September, but it’s not a guarantee. I tell you all of this depressing background to let you know how much joy you have brought me with your videos. I just found your channel a couple of weeks ago, so as I sit here in my home office - alone (well, my poodle Sky is always in the chair next to me) watching your videos I actually catch myself smiling. You are a joy and a treasure! I’m so grateful that I found your channel and want to thank you, from the bottom of my poor old heart, for bringing such a breath of fresh air to my dull days. And - I may start sewing again. I do knit, not an expert, but I’m pretty good with scarves, cowls and shawls. You need a scarf or a shawl, let me know - I’m your girl!

I found those same green shorts at Kohl’s, Mercari, and Poshmark all for under $30 retail. Thred Up is a great brand for what they are trying to do, but their “estimated retail prices” are really off sometimes (In this case, by over $150 for the retail value) And the shorts originally came with a matching belt…
@BouncyBrown3 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's crazy. When she said the price, I assumed Elizabeth and James was a small indie brand but I checked and it's the Olsen twins' brand from Kohl's. And you're right, it's way cheaper! Shame on Thread Up.

Thread up really likes to over-price things. I'd look on Poshmark and Mercari first before going to TU, yes you can find some great things there but you have to look hard. But Elizabeth and James is a high end brand and the one she got was not sold at Kohls unless it's in the return section.
