The "Swastika" seen @6:04 on the flag is an ancient symbol of the culture of the Kuna (Tule) people. So it has nothing to do with the Nazi's, just wanted to let that be known. :)

Absolutely. Good post. The Swastika is an ancient symbol used in several Eurasian cultures that had positive "good luck" connotations. However, since its adoption as a symbol of Nazi Germany in the 1930's most people in the western world find it difficult to see it as representing anything else.

Sierra is one of my favorite people in the world!! As a mom I have a bit of advice for stubbornness and tantrums. Give her a choice…but the options are always yours. If she doesn’t want to wear the life jacket she can stay in her tent (if that is an option). Does she wear the life jacket when you are underway no matter where she is? Anyway, this is applicable at all stages of growth. She is a delight, crying or happy!! Happy Anniversary!! Love and hugs from sunny Arizona 💖😎💖

Amazing history we did not know. We visit Grand Manan often - it's a beautiful unique place. And to have lobster for your anniversary (congrats btw and happy belated birthday Brian) dinner was 100% par for the course. We look forward to your next episode as we are Colin fans from Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Hi Brian it really is a small world. Back in about 1959-1960 my older brother who is 84 now, built several lighthouses on Grand Manan island and Whitehead island off the NB coast.Along with a very colorful character named Harry Mork who had a very early IH Scout 4wd. This time frame predates the old ferry wreck which was not built until about 1966 in Saint John NB. Always enjoy your videos and miss my fellow Canuck Taylor.Hope she is doing well. @@djjohnny8149 How old are they? 5 might be a bit much, but children usually take to water like little ducks. Unless you as the parents are scared of water, they will just emulate you. My parents were (I think) rather neutral towards water, I still couldn't keep out of it. I think it started almost immediately, my mom told me a story when I scared her, just a few months old when I tried to dive in the washbowl she used to bathe me. When I was not quite three years old (born in July), we went to the beach and little Ulli moved more under water than above. I couldn't swim properly, but I could dive. The water wasn't deep, even for a three year old just deep enough to flood the belly button ;-)). Scared mom again, since the water was murky and I was just gone frequently, just to resurface a few meters away...

Aw lovely video! Guna Yala/San Blas looks amazing! Have an amazing time! I guess Sierra's still remembering the last sail when she felt so sick. To climb a rope if you pull up then wrap it around your leg and then stand on it with your other foot trapping it against your ankle you can then straighten up pull again and do it again etc. :-)! Regarding the toddler/lifejacket screaming - I wonder if you and Brian put life jackets on too - she might then feel left out and want to be like mum and Dad :-) (or perhaps not) ! Don't worry about Tetanus from rusty wrecks - Clostritium tetani is actually a very puny bacteria and highly unlikely to survive long on a well washed wreck :-)! It lives in manure and soil/earth, it seems to be associated with rusty nails in peoples minds but that's likely more related to it being an anaerobic bacteria - it doens't need oxygen to live and so if you have some soil or muck on a nail you stand on (quite likely on land) and push it into your foot it can still live in there, but antibiotics kill it pretty easily. It's the toxin from the bacteria that causes all of the symptoms, the vaccination you have actually isn't useful for the injury you have at the time - its' to give you immunity in the future for the next time you do the same thing :-)! 5 doses (most of which you get with your childhood vaccinations) should give you lifetime protection (unless of course you don't have them...). There are other things you can give if you're worried someone has a high risk wound - like a fork in the foot whilst digging manure into the garden etc.

I took that ferry every summer to see my grandparents back in the day. The crossing was about 90 minutes, so with 30 minutes for loading and unloading it the boat ran every two hours one way. They would really cram the cars tight on the vehicle deck. I was on the bridge a few times when it was sailing, since my dad new some of the people who worked there. It was always a thrill to watch the bow swing up and the ramp swing down when I was little. It is really sad to see the state of it now.
