the key here is percent up and down are different. If I mark up a product by 20%, then to get back to original means marking down new price by 16.7%. $1.00 up 20% = $1.20 $1.20 down 16.7% = $1.00 $1.00 up 15% = $1.15 $1.15 down 13% = $1.00 C = car speed T = truck speed this problem: C = T × (1.15) where C = 82 mph 82mi/hr = T × 1.15 T = 82÷1.15 = 71.30 mph Verify => C = T × 1.15 82 = ? 71.30 × 1.15 82 =❤ 81.995 ✔️

Greetings. The answer is 71.3 MPH. Now, we will assume that the Truck's speed is X MPH. Moving forward, the car's speed will be the Truck's speed plus 15% of the Track's speed. That is X+15X%. Additionally, we are told that the Car's speed is 82 MPH. Therefore, we will equate the speeds of the car to get X+15X%=82, and 100X+15X=8,200, 115X=8,200 from which it is determined that X =71.3 MPH, rounded.

82 miles an hour is 100% so each percent is worth 0.82 x 15 means 15% = 12.3 subtract that from your 82 the truck would be traveling at 69.7 I could be wrong not educated

i thought it was 69.7 (8.2 mph is 10%) and half that is (4.1 mph thats half of 10% (5%) so 82 minus 12.3 (12.3 is the 8.2 + 4.1 mph) so 82 mph minus the 12.3 is the 69.7 mph right !!

IMHO the explanation in video is wrong. If cars speed is 15% faster than truck, to get from truck to car speed you would multiply by 1.15 (ie increase truck speed by 15 %) to get back again, simply divide by 1.15..So truck speed is 82/1.15= 71 mph (approx)
