Wow... kind of an underwhelming reaction for me, especially because of how much I fell in love with the show from episode 1, but... hopefully you will get more into it as time goes on. In my view it is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I absolutely love Lucifer as a character. I actually only started watching it because my niece loves it, and I thought it would be fun for me to know and understand the show as well, and I was SO shocked and surprised to love it - especially as much as I did. I even felt the need to find reactions to it just so I could see someone else discovering it for the first time, lmao.

Hey guys you should give this show a real trial. You have to watch more than one episode. It’s about Lucifer (a fallen angel) who after eons of being in hell forced to torture the worse of humanity, well he doesn’t do it himself but oversees demons who follow his orders. Think of him as warden of a prison and the demons as prison guards. He retires to earth and for the first time gets to know humanity and learns about emotions . The show follows his journey of him feeling different emotions and learning to cope with them. Becoming more humanised as it goes on. The ‘crime’ each week isn’t a big part but gives him a chance to relate to his problems he is copying with at the time.

All right! I'm so hyped up to watch y'all react to Lucifer! I just LOVE this show, and it's not Noir at all. Nor is it your standard police procedural. I think you'll both be pleasantly surprised that there's more depth and nuance to this show than it would appear from the pilot. You think you're watching basic, stock characters, and then suddenly, you realize that you're not. And so much of the comedy (and there's a lot of that throughout the series) comes from the whole Devil leaving Hell to take a vacay in LA, and just having the time of his life playing at being a detective, while all the while, Hell needs him back and troubles start brewing because he's not there anymore.

Lucifer, as a character, appears in Gaiman's Sandman but then was spun off for his own comic which Gaiman did not write or produce. So this show is a distant cousin, at best.

Not that I am Jewish but in Judaism, Satan is ha'satan and is an Angel (not fallen) that basically is heavens prosecutor, who points out all your sins at your judgment at death, you defend your self with your good deeds and if you good enough you get your name in the book of life. There more to it of course and depending on what denomination of Judaism you follow, but that's the broad strokes.

The series gets better as the relationships between characters develops. There s some good chemistry. The weekly 'let's investigate' is not the strongest aspect of the series. I was a bit disappointed with that tbh. There little of Gaimans Lucifer here. A shame but I don't think it would have been greenlighted

I think Tom Ellis was well cast even though nothing like the Lucifer of Gaiman. If you ever get the chance to see The Fades (BBC supernatural single series he was also in along with a number of other faces you'd recognise) I'd recommend

Its actually not that weird if you actually read alot of the lore and writings and what the concept of lucifer is adopted from other cultures before christianity and even in christianity he was never the source of evil by definition he is the light bringer he is the warden,guard, judge, and jury of hell the punisher of evil and hell or Sheol was never meant as eternal damnation but more of a second chance to atone for the things keeping a soul from being worthy of paradise it was actually the church and preachers miss reading their own "holy books" to maintain control of the masses that eventually Lucifer became this boogeyman character that you tell a child to scare them into behaving, the position he was placed in was essentially a job that someone had to do to maintain the balance as his brorher said at the end of the episode, there are actually many great literature and stories people have come up with that coencides with this very sentiment id suggest "Memnoch the devil" by anne rice or if you wanna go further back into the roots of where lucifer gets alot of his iconic aliases and titles (such as the light bringer, and Mourning Star) that christianity used to base his character off of try "The Gospel of Loki" by Joanne M. Harris

Great reactions. Don't get me wrong. But what if this is the way it is in this world, and somebody is telling us? Because any religion is only WORDS written down on paper. There is NO PROOF. Of any of it. So who says that this is only a TV Show. Maybe the producer was told he could not tell his "congregation" the truth so making a TV Show was the only way he could get the truth out to the people? Just a Possibility. Great reaction, guys.

I think the devil is very misinterpreted as pure evil and made people do bad things, when in hindsight god gave us freewill are actions are our own. Hell is a place where bad people go to be punished.

Why is it that religious types are so cynical, I would have thought that faith required a suspension of belief in the practical world, or is it that if you are into the business of faith, it is just that a business, and a subtle contempt for those who buy into the concept of suspending believe developes.

I see you've watched Good Omens. So if you're interested in such kind of shows, I strongly recommend Supernatural. You'll enjoy every second of it. You'll have to wait a few seasons for the religious aspect but it's worth it.
