I love all the clips on abortion right now. I’m 37 but at 18 ‘nurses/doctors’ tried hard to push abortion on to me when I was 18. I had strayed, played with fire and got burnt but never once did I think abortion was acceptable. My baby meant something but I didn’t know what, I couldn’t see then and I still can’t understand what I was meant to get out of my pregnancy at 18 with my son but there was a reason God gave me my son. He did bring be back to my faith and right now at 18 my son is fighting against the ‘pull/calling he feels to be a Priest’

@@guthriesavagefriedman9975 thank you. It’s funny in a way. He has such a stronger faith that I ever had as a kid. I grew up in the uk where I was bullied and told to F off back to Ireland for being Irish and catholic so I started resenting being catholic but deep down my faith was still there. Perhaps God gave me my son to return me to where I was meant to be - in the church… My son is a far better person that I ever was or can be. While we can only go to NO (TLM is only monthly where we live) we have a very traditional Priest and Bishop thankfully he is really starting to see the sheer beauty in the sacrifice of the mass and he watches in awe as he alter serves

@@mrandmrsbalzan he very much needs prayers. He is fighting the calling hard (which I have been told is totally normal). He had the normal ‘dreams’ of what he would like to do in life and how life would be with a family but he says no matter how hard he tries he can’t stop the calling in his head to be a Priest. He is very traditional and black and white in how we should live according to the bible - I actually envy his conviction to his faith as I certainly never had that as a kid/teen and it amazes me how convicted he is seeing as we live in such a secular area that seems to despise religious people (considering how I was treated as a child by my peers and adults merely for being Irish and catholic in Scotland during the 80’s/90’s)

@@irishandscottish1829 God bless him as it does seem he's going through the tortuous journey of discernment. My advice would be that we all keep praying for him so that he follow's God's plan (no matter what it is), in the meantime it might really help if he gets in touch with a spiritual director of his choice and confidence (preferably also someone that he can access as needed, for example in the same or a nearby parish), for helping him through the process of discernment. Remember, God really works in mysterious ways, and help will come as needed - just be steadfast in faith, prayer and always ready for the right action.

He makes a good point that some of the hardened pro-aborts are protecting deep wounds, which make them lash out when confronted. However I think there are others who are just straight-up possessed. It's very difficult.

I agree, changing hearts is the ultimate goal. I think the overturning of Roe has really opened people's eyes about abortion and is getting through to hearts that have not been hardened. We must always approach others with love and let them know that even if they've had an abortion, they are not lost, God wants them to run to him and be forgiven.

His experience is an important lesson. Sadly, I can't take it for granted that I'm talking to someone who hasn't been harmed by abortion. I've known too many women, and men, who are affected by their choice to terminate one or more pregnancies. That's colored my online discussions. There was one young woman who began stalking my account after I had posted a comment on a pro-life upload. She began arguing with me in the comment thread, but then brought the debate to my account. She seemed desperate. I continued to engage her, and I hope I was compassionate. She focused on pregnancy as a result of rape, and I said abortion doesn't heal victims from the trauma of rape, and often makes it take longer to heal, because now there's the knowledge of what was done to the being that was conceived, and guilt from the choice. Eventually she brought up her own experience, saying she had been assaulted and conceived, and believed that abortion saved her from suicide. She said she now works as a counselor for post-abortive women, reassuring them that they made the right choice. I told her that I've counseled post-abortive women 10 to 25 years after they made the choice, or were coerced, and assured her that when she reaches that stage of grief there will be help for her, she won't be alone. She stopped responding after that. Please pray for her.

That is such a tragic story and a beautiful reminder on how to approach these people. Going through empathy and love for their deeper pain/loss will get to their hearts. We need so much more of this to care for the common person, make them process their pain, and finally heal and be able to grasp the goodness of caring for all forms of human life.

He was confusing. I am not really sure the point he was trying to make. I understand how he sees his role as a therapist. What if he had a client who used abortion as birth control? That would alarm me. I would see that as not healthy for my client. Unfortunately, I knew a woman of only 24 once who had had multiple abortions and this was in 1978!!!

I think he hit the nail on the head. We have God's law written in our hearts. We know when we do wrong. But no one wants to be called out for their wrongdoing. We cover ourselves with fig leaves. But we need something better that will heal us and where we would find complete forgiveness. And the shame can be gone.

Fantastic Christ like view and truly a valid argument for anyone , male or female may have experienced that difficult choice in a relationship. I do truly understand their anguish and Pain associated with their decision. There is another point though which must be remembered. Human Beings are created out of LOVE. LOVE CONSUMMATED ….. Love promised …… for better or for worse…… Life is the ultimate GOD GIVEN GIFT and with that in mind we must remember Love is Consummated in Marriage. The Act of PROMISE AHAIN FOR BETTER OR WORSE. Us who are older were raised to respect that dogma. Today most relationship are simply experiences, challenges which for the most part come from self fulfillment rather than LOVE. Those who honestly are personally affected by this SC decision because of a first hand life experience ….. I do certainly understand. But I will NEVER UNDDFSTAND THOSE SCREAMING YOUNG HIGH SCHOOL and COLLEGE AGED CHILDREN WHO SO WHO SCREAM and YELL the narrative of PRO CHOICE. THEY LIKELY HAVE NO……NO …. NO ……First hand experience yet by the DEVILISH ACTIONS Of whomever is teaching them……..Life And it’s Meaning ……has been teaching them to advocate the Always Defiant SATAN himself. Life remains is the Most Sacred Gift that Our Loving FATHER bestows …… After LOVE. RustyIronMike

But what about people who don't believe in your god. You are forcing people to live in a way based on something you can't prove or even explain. And Satan is a concept borrowed by the Jews from the Zoroastrians. You don't even know much about your own confused beliefs.
@m.935

His approach is effective in therapy, but not all bad choices come down from bad childhood or trauma. Some people chose evil out of pure convenience because they just want to. Otherwise, Jesus would come down as a psychologist and heal us all that way. Satan didn't have a bad childhood or any trauma. Real evil is a choice, not an unconscious result of some past trauma and neglect. I think it is important to separate that for multitudes of reasons. I think some people, including myself, have a hard time dealing with the reality of evil and psychologise something that is in fact spiritual. Yes, we regularly do things out of our childhood experiences, and humanity is not aware of it enough, but not all choices are the result of that. You fix childhood issues, you fix evil in this world. I went down this road as well, but it is a road where we act as if we don't need Christ to save ourselves, only good psychotherapy.

Matt, when you are presented with an "either/or" situation you describe and you are wondering which way to go, one clue might be if the person you are dealing with refuses to see or acknowledge truth and logic. Odds are they are hurting very, very deeply and in all probability you need to be gentle, kind and loving rather than confrontational and fact-rendering. You will gain their trust as a newfound friend and eventually some of them begin to relax and absorb information and healing can begin.

Yes, I can definitely see that a lot of people, people doing all they can to tell to everyone about their beliefs that “abortion is good, it is healthcare, we need it” comes from a place of deep hurt. And I can’t know what their pain is, I just know that if I come to a conversation (usually online) where there’s this person angrily nonsensically yelling at people to accept their beliefs and know that she is passionate about this, I can tell that nothing I’m saying (which is very basic things) to that person will be heard because the deep pain is not going to let me be heard, it’s just going to lash out to hide the pain in it. That might be me jumping to conclusions, but usually online you can see. Sadly, one time a situation like I said happened, and in this persons anger she’s said that even she had an abortion… well unfortunately there’s the proof that this person I had spoken to was coming from a place of suffering, and that pain was lashing out to justify it.

@@Thefloridarepublic Depends on if you belong to a conservative Protestant denomination or not. Most conservative denominations believe that life starts at conception, so they allow pre-conception contraceptives, but not abortion pills. However, I was shocked to see how many Catholics support it considering the leadership supposedly is against it.

Please excuse my bluntness. It is actually very helpful to have things laid out. There's no questioning what's right/wrong. (Granted there are things that the Church hasn't been explicit on, and accepts a range of beliefs.) If a truth has been publicly revealed, all that's left to do is align yourself. If you hold steadfast to your own misconceptions, that's on you and maybe whoever helped get you there. Just because people exist who hold themselves in higher authority doesn't mean it isn't good, necessary, or helpful to those of good will.
