EPISODE 6 - " A CHANGE OF MENTALITY"
To get my 250th podium makes me proud but it also makes me feel really old! It is nice and I feel it is beyond my wildest dreams to have achieved what I have done already.
I just enjoy it and hopefully there are many more to come. We won Superpole and just that little lift of being on pole is great for the guys in the garage. Donington is a good track for us so we should be strong here. In the beginning of the race, especially when Toprak was in front, I felt really comfortable to be there, enough to want to go past him and have clear air in front of me. In the middle of the race, when Alvaro was in front, the pace was faster. He was in the mid/high 1’26s and I was in the low 1’27s. In that situation I was trying harder, braking on the limit, and maybe overcooking it by a small margin.
My race was quite inconsistent, but even when Danilo was putting me under some pressure, which I could see on my pitboard. I was still able to be quite fast, lapping in the 1’27 low laps times, if a little sporadically. So the pace is there. I consumed the rear tyre but didn’t completely kill it, so there is reason for optimism with the rear of the bike. We just need to create that margin at the front so that if I do get in ‘hot’ I can still stop i

I think most people realise we're watching two classes on the same grid this year. stopped paying any attention to the Ducatis with what is clearly an unfair advantage and I'm more interested in the actual racing taking place in 'the other class'. You're doing a great job on what is far from the best package and which will hopefully lay the foundations for a more competitive bike next season. So all the frustration of this year will be worth it in the end. Keep going.

A true champ, you have class winning or losing. So much respect, you’re doing wonders with what you’re working with. I’ve always been taught a worker is only as good as his tool/machine, it takes a real champ to understand to turn this into a learning season and realize it’s better to get data rather than hurt yourself going over the limit. You’ll get them next year JR keep at it

It sucks because the same reason I stopped watching MotoGP is going to be the same reason I stop watching SBK. The dominance of Ducati. It makes for boring racing when you know who is going to win. You have so many great racers and personalities but, that only goes so far in retaining viewership. These racing big wigs need to figure out how to even the playing field. I think motorcycle racing was on the cusp of growing and the past two years at minimum have yielded minimal competition. I am a big fan of Rea and I hate seeing him wind down his career frustrated. I think when he does retire……viewers will turn to other racing venues for entertainment. F1 is no different. Moto2 and 3 are more competitive and fun to watch. Rea is a class act and fierce competitor and I want to continue watching and remain hopeful that something will change.

I've been a huge fan of motorcycle racing since forever. I've been watching worldsbk since 2009 and I've been a fan of ben spies since that year and i knew you were a major talent since then and when i heard you switched to kawasaki for 2015, i thought.... uh oh, this guys gonna dominate... and that you did because i knew how good that bike was back then because i have a gen 4 zx10r myself so i knew you were gonna lay waste to the competition. You, marquez, ben spies and nicky hayden are my favorite riders and i dont know whats goin on with the rules in worldsbk but i do know you guys at krt are fighting with both hands tied behind your backs. Hopefully you give it a couple more years and hopefully kawasaki gives you an entirely new bike that'll enable you to take the fight to ducati and make it a wheel to wheel and elbow to elbow fight instead of a one sided domination like it is now

Rea you’re the man 6 times WSBK the Goat I hate seeing you ride on the limit you can only do what the tools allow. Kawasaki is too fault the writing was on the wall 2 years ago sitting on the current ZX10RR platform unless Kawasaki builds a new bike with the philosophy ofDucati with Moto GP technology past down to WSBK Kawasaki will not be able to Win the ZX10RR is a street bike turned into a race bike. Kawasaki said that there Target is Yamaha,BMW,Honda it might be time to leave Kawasaki maybe you go to Yamaha I can’t believe I’m saying that but it’s reality . They are the closest to the Ducati because of their Moto GP technology if Kawasaki would have stayed in Moto GP they could passed down to technology to their WSBK teams Im a Kawasaki fan and love their bikes they sell street bikes not race bikes . All the disciplines the ZX10RR competes in are suffering . Again keep your head up champ let the good times roll

The last part is the best! With the little one commenting 😂 As far as I know Kawasaki is much faster in decision taking, compared with the other Japanese factories and react faster in correcting things. There are 2 factors these days in WSBK. First Ducati have 16000+ revs compared to 14700 of the Japanese bikes. Kawasaki and Yamaha cough off guard on this and never bothered protecting like Ducati was doing when they raced V2. And second, the too obvious weight deficit with Alvaro. Though the rest of the ducati's are nowhere near Jonathan.
