I am 59 years old and started hearing about Gale banks in the early eighties. I always have been a big fan of Gale banks and the engines this man has built has left me in amazement fast forward 40 years later And he is still doing it the man is totally amazing in the people he surrounds Himself with are also his forward thinking and engineering is off the charts Gale banks is Truly a national treasure If there is a engineering Hall of fame GALD BANKS deserves to be there

I'm impressed with what can be done in SolidWorks. But, I'm even more impressed by the old school guys who can do it without the aid of the computer. This project combines both worlds. I'm ready to start seeing all the hard parts put together. Oh, and leave that dent in the left rear!

Solidworks is for those who have no imagination and cannot foresee or vision what they are building. The old method is for those who have it.

While you make a good point in theory, we find that Solidworks is just a tool used like any other. In the hands of an artist, the computer is magical. In the hands of someone with no "vision," it's just a video game.

The ability of the artisan, be it with a body hammer, a tape measure, or a computer screen, is a thing to behold. That young man running that computer is passionate about his craft. As is the one who can use a pen to draw out a vision. Or the one who just gets in there and does it. Passion drives the skill, in my opinion. I admire and appreciate the drive, that one has, to make something.

Raise the wood truck bed so that it is on one plane over the top of the frame for rear axle, therefore making the bed usable to haul things. The fuel tank is best in the rear as was demonstrated, but have the fill be in the last pillar that houses the tail light assembly. I never liked having the fill in the usable wood bed surface. Have the air compressor with controls under the wood bed in front of the rear axle.

Can you add a bolt on spacer to the bottom of the frame to add to the overall height and the frame rail in order to drop transmission and engine lower for more hood clearance? Depending on how much farther you need to go down is how tall you and make the spacers for the frame to make contact with the ground. Spacers might be nice because it won’t scratch your frame rails can you put it on the ground, just the spacers. You can even mount polyurethane bump stops if you wanted to as well. Love the CAD work!

I really like the theme and concept of the whole build and I appreciate the effort and labor. Maybe a little less emphasis on getting it to lay on the ground for more driveability and lower drivetrain packaging. More muffler volume to make it sleeper quiet with electric exhaust cutouts would cool.

If it doesn't have the right turn radious you always can make a rear axle with steering it will be very complicated but worth it, and then at high speeds only use the front steering so you have the best of two worlds, a good tur radious at low speeds and a precise control in steering wheel at high speeds

Thanks for the content! At this point I am looking for more length, you’ve hooked me! Being unsure of the stack hight of the blower and intercooler is a bit of a problem... how many options are there for the problem? Corvettes and supercharged Mustangs have found ways to stack ‘em. About the trans oil pan... how about dry-sump for that too? 🤔 Cant be that difficult, and you could really wow the crowd with that! 😜😉

I thought that emissions were high on the design of components list, yet I don't see any exhaust controls on this street rod. I suspect that perhaps the tune would provide emissions control with MAP? I'm just trying to understand all of the nuances discussed, so excuse me if I seem to be such a newbie...Love this channel and everyone on it, keep up the tutoring, thanks
@bankspower
@bankspower 3 жыл бұрын
No worries, be happy to explain. Emissions equipment isn't really a concern for us on this build, there is no need for it. Federal emissions laws currently state that pre-1975 trucks are emissions exempt which includes our 1966 Chevy C20 (which did not come with nor required emissions equipment). In other words, states California does not require emissions equipment on vehicles older than 1975. So, this truck is exempt. This engine, or ones like it, will be available from Banks for use in non-emissions regulated applications such as repower, marine, military, etc. 😎🤙🏻

Honest opinion, the "discovery channel-esque" feel of these is kinda distracting. How many camera angles and cut's back and forth do you actually need? Shaky camera footage of the screen mixed with actual screen capture mixed with a low side shot and a high front shot and a camera on the desk in front of them just STOOOOOOPPPPP You only needed ONE camera, angle, the FIXED non shaky cam one on the desk, and you only needed to cut it with screen capture and that would have been perfect. People came to youtube to escape that low attention span low IQ drivel.
