I had a customer bring in an RV,,,, I popped open the engine cover and there stood a huge 12 valve Cummins with banks power pack on top and various other parts from banks. I was honored to work on that.

I'm starting to choose a body and begin to gather parts for a "vacation cruiser" kind of car, maybe a station wagon from the 60s or 70s. With that very V6 engine, Gale was discussing and a hybrid from someone like Rich. Rich has done some incredible things with all-electric, I'm sure he could perfect a hybrid. Now I'm wishing I had to money just to ship them a complete car and turn them both loose and see what comes back.

For smaller diesel engines you could also consider a Mercedes straight six OM648, or if you want a V8 an OM629. If you want mechanical diesel, OM606 is a great block too. I know they're older engines, but they don't get much love state side and they really are awesome engines.

I would've liked to know how much lighter that Tesla is without all of the batteries in it. Also, that was a missed opportunity to keep the electric motors and use the engine as a power generator. That's what EV's all should be, anyways...

What I'm describing is not a hybrid because it only has one power source, the engine, and one method of propulsion, the electric motor(s). If all EVs were made this way, they'd be absurdly efficient and wouldn't waste - literally - tons of Lithium on batteries.
