If you are ever in Amsterdam on a Monday morning, there is a weekly market that is fully dedicated to fabrics and haberdashery. It is called "Westermarkt" and is at 5-10 mins walking distance from Central Station. They open at 09:00 and close at 13:00 hrs and you can find anything there. Here is the site for details www.amsterdam-travel-guide.net/markets/lapjesmarkt.php. It also details how to get there by public transport. I used to go to this market with my mum when I was little. There is a different market at the bottom of this street on Saturday, with organic foods and products and vintage clothes and items. It is called "Noordermarkt" and is centered around the church. At just a few minutes walking from here, there is also the "Lindenmarkt", which is a regular food and clothes/items market that is open all day on Saturday.

Mustard yellow looks great on you! Love that you're doing something way different than what I've seen, making your own ski suit! That is amazing.

Amsterdam is my home town. I will definitely visit A. Boeken soon. Next time you are in Amsterdam make sure to visit westermarkt on a early monday morning. Mondays only starting around 8am till approximately noon. They also call it 'lapjesmarkt' which means fabric market. It's amazing and the prices are very good.

Just been to Amsterdam, came back with 4 lots of fabric from Albert Cuypstraat market ( Albert ‘Kipe’.) Very reasonably priced at Jefertti Stoffen and De Boerenbonthal. The haberdashers, Jandegrotekleinvakman is just amazing, almost too much to chose from, like a sweetie shop, Went to Utrecht, Saturday market is huge, been running for 400 years, so I was told in the Tourist Inf. went on Thursday Duh!,! Our daughter lives in Amsterdam, so it’s always on my shopping list.

Yes, Albert Kipe is more or less right in pronunciation. And Boeken is the plural of Books, in Dutch. So if you say Book-en, you are pronouncing it right.

I live in the Netherlands but hardly ever go to Amsterdam. But would love to go to the Albert Cuyp some time. Good that I dont live there because I would go bankrupt them. It is anazing that there are so many fabrics stores there because in my town there is only 1 !!!!! So annoyed. But not many people in Netherlands sew anymore. I try to get them back on sewing with my channel!!!
