A chicken, some cheese, and a large rock | Van life Spain with the Newbys

This week we cross the Pyrenees and head into a beautiful hidden corner of Spain in our self converted camper van Safari. A true Van Life experience awaits as we stop for cheese and find a chicken.
What follows is bizarre and fun in equal measure!
After our chicken encounter we head over to Haro, and revisit old memories of a wine throwing festival, and climb another hill. All great fun.
We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. We release new videos every Sunday sharing our story, and we’d love for you to be a part of it with us. Here is some info from Uncle Felix (the geologist). The Mallos de Riglos are a set of rock formations, located in the municipality of Las Peñas de Riglos, in the Hoya de Huesca comarca, in Aragon, Spain. conglomerate. The Mallos were formed when eroded material washed down from the slopes of the Pyrenees and became cemented together by limestone. Over time, this mixture became compacted into a large mass of conglomerate rock. Eventually, erosion wore away the softer, more porous parts of the conglomerate. The more resistant rock remained, and became the formations known as the Mallos de Riglos. What you saw in the cave is a classical conglomerate. Rock fragments packed together by a much finer grained matrix.

She is such a sweet chicken. They can be good pets. I wish you had been able to keep her. Spain is beautiful. I had a car and drove along the Sea and up into the mountains and was entranced by the blue mountains in the sunrise. Probably people took shelter in the caves. Hens are very inquisitive and some really like to go exploring. I had to shut my brothers hens in their run - to stop them wandering off; sometimes just one and sometimes they both wandered off. They had free run of his garden but not mine. Neither I nor the hen left behind could cope with the stress the wandering hen caused.
