So, a turning point in my life as a gay Christian came when I realised that being born this way or not, has no consequence - born AGAIN, has consequences. I don't believe in 'conversion therapy' or the 'ex-gay' groups, but that's a matter of opinion. Rather, what I have started (this is a new journey for me) to find, is that there is an immense challenge, but also a reward to be found in celibacy. I know this isn't a solution for everyone, and for those who can't take it on, there is a different journey to divinity for them - but all things are possible, ALL things, not some things. Part of the problem with some Christians is their incessant need to just 'throw scripture' at people as if it's a magic spell from a Harry Potter book. Scripture without love, respect, context or compassion - is just words. If yours is not to minister to an LGBT person - then don't, but you could be the link to someone who can. LGBT people feel as natural and normal being themselves as anyone else does feeling themselves. I focus now (try to, I'm a work in progress) on my identity in Christ and THAT is the identity I want to know more about - who is THAT guy. So if anyone is battling with this, just remember that - keep your eyes, your heart and your prayers focused on Christ, not the world. What your 'label' is - really doesn't matter. If you were an immoral gay, then realize that being born gay doesn't automatically mean that all gays live immoral lives. I am not an immoral gay, but still suffered from the kind of alienation that gay people feel from heterosexual society. You cannot be "converted to Christ from homosexuality" because you cannot take your sexual orientation off "like a coat." Yes, it is possible to convert from immorality to Christ, but gay people were created by God the way they are and cannot take their sexual orientation off "like a coat."

Dr Yuan is betraying gay people by acting as if being gay is a choice. It isn't a choice and you cannot take it off like a coat. Gay people around the age of 13 come to the awareness that they have same-sex attractions. Yes, one can not act on this or not, but the reality is that once a gay, always a gay. Churches should not be in the market of forcing people to reject their true identity. Yes, praise the Lord who accepts me for the person that I am: gay! He would never expect me to reject who I am!

Some are gay. Some are a mixture of both. Skin colour is also a spectrum. I suppose Yuan would suggest we shouldn't say we are black or white because techincally those labels don't help, we are all just shades of brown?? I get what he's saying and sexuality is a spectrum. Most people fit nicely it seems within the two sides generally. But just because it's a spectrum (like skin colour) doesn't mean it's inaccurate to say "I'm straight" --- can we PLEASE just be honest with reality in this one and say for the majority of straight people in the world, it's not helpful to conceive of yourself as someone who is fluidly on a spectrum so therefore they can't define themselves as "straight" -- like, for most people, it is most accurate and helpful just to say they are straight. That's not going to change. The same is for gay and bi people. Also, when this guy says "I have opposite sex attraction feelings and it doesn't make being a Christian any easier" -- and then they laugh. Firstly, when this guy says this it just shows that he doesn't really understand what he's talking about. Of COURSE it makes being a Christian easier. This is undeniable. Why is this, because yes you have to say not to lust and sexual activity that is sinful, but as a straight Christian, you have the permission and space (and celebration) to turn those feelings into something life-giving that your heart craves: companionship, sexual love expressed in a healthy way, family, romantic love, etc. You have a giant YES for your sexuality, one that is celebrated. It's not easy. There's still temptation. Of course you say no to things, but get to say YES to something: marriage and love and companionship. Christians with same sex attraction don't get to have this YES. They never get any space or permission to actually wisely steward their sexuality in a way that might bring life. They have to kill their sexuality and desire for love for the rest of their lives ... and they will die alone. Please please please, straight Christians, don't say that the plight is equal. Does being straight make it easier to be a Christian. 10000% yes. "we all need to die to self" as Yuan says. This is true. But for the straight Christian, they die to their lust but also get marriage and companionship and romantic love, for the gay Christian, they die to their lust and love and sexuality and there's nothing afterwards. It just ends there. Death.

Question: It says in the bible that a woman that wears a red dress must be stoned to death. That law is over 2000 years old. Rob K ???verse reference? But to answer your question generally, a lot of the specific laws in the old testament was given to the nation of Israel, the nation that was meant to represent God. The Christian church aren't supposed to carry out the punishments. (eg don't eat split hoove animals, don't work on Sabbath or be stoned) However, a lot of the ten commandments have been repeated in the new testament and those Christians should still keep. Lastly, We are saved not by keeping the law but by putting faith in Jesus

Speaking to Christians: No matter what, the world will hate us, trying to have a relationship with the world and going to even a regular party is like going into a lions den. So going to a samesex wedding wether a only a reception should be something inspired by the Holy Spirit. I agree with him in the fact that we are all fallen, we all have our struggle BUT they did not mention deliverance at all. Yes it’s God that changes people, but how can you have a ministry and not mention how God made you free? We should be going from glory to glory, not struggle in the same temptation for a lifetime. I still think he's free even if he feels temptation. The thing about temptation is you can fully shut it out, you can even minimize it arising in the first place. Then there is no inhibiting to how you function really. There can be a lot of growth even while the temptation is still arising or "comming to you" every now and again. It doesn't have to be the same as bondage. Think of this: opposite sex attraction isn't a bondage even if a person decides to stay single for life. However it can be very debilitating if people let it in over and over again, and if they yield to it. Then it becomes a bondage. So same sex attraction can be a bondage but also not in the same way. That's what I think anyway.

Why does membership in a church dictate our identity? To say that I am not gay; I am not straight; I am a follower of Jesus Christ: is actually just "sucking up" to homophobic Christian denominations that have the wrong concepts about gay people. Who needs to broadcast their church membership? Meanwhile, Jesus has told us that "saying is not doing." If you are homophobic, you are not a true Christian and are not living Christ's acceptance of all peoples. It is the Pharisee who parades his membership in a particular church in front of other Christians and we know what Jesus thought of Pharisees. Dr. Yuan, you are a Pharisee. I would have thought that you were intellectual enough to figure out the fact that many denominations are homophobic. To say that "I am not gay. I am not straight.
