On tonight’s presentation which is the companion to last years A Christmas Carol Filming locations feature we once again visit the scenes of this amazing (The Best 👍) adaptation of the classic Dickens Christmas ghost story. What you’ll hear and see however is new entailing us to look at things a bit differently, have a little (a very little🤣) bit of a laugh, right some wrongs, see locations we were unable to explore fully in 2020 and much more. Medieval stones still in place. Scrooge's gravestone! The tunnel. Trees now covered with ivy. Shrewsbury is a rich location. Thank you for bringing the glorious 1984 story to life even more!

A Christmas Carol (1984) is one of my all time favorite adaptations of the Charles Dickens 1843 novella from Director Clive Donner and starring George C Scott and he’s one of the definitive Scrooges along with Alastair Sim, Sir Michael Caine, Albert Finney, Kelsey Grammer, Jim Carrey, Sir Patrick Stewart etc

Nice videos mate. Am from Shrewsbury originally and always do the Christmas Carol walk every year In December :) Theres some scenes in the film (Scrooges youth in the countryside, his time at the boarding school etc) that can be found at the PGL centre in Baschurch, if you wanted to go check them out

My favourite film of all time. I saw it at the cinema in Mardol in either 1987 or 88. I've spent a lazy afternoon watching lots of videos and reminiscing my days in Shrewsbury. I was there from 1986 to 2013 and had my 3 eldest children there. I still feel like it "home". I would love to see you do a film on Belle Vue or Copthorne. Maybe the old Shelton hospital :)

I have a Q: Do you find Mr. Scott's lack of a British accent to be distracting? IMO his accent is very much American, which strikes me as a little odd. That said, I love the film and think Mr. Scott was outstanding.@@thirdratecontent585

I always assumed Scrooge's grave marker was a prop, so I was saddened to learn that Scrooge's grave stone is a REAL marker so faded that the identity of the remains is unknown. @@thirdratecontent585

@@kricklin No I don’t find it distracting. Scott fills the screen with his presence and although his accent isn’t particularly British it doesn’t sound that American (to my ears). I just kinda think of it as a generic old times accent 🤔 that could just be me tho lol

WOW! I never knew that David Warner was originally cast as Freddy Krueger. I'm glad he didn't do it. David Warner was also in Titanic and Star Trek 5 & 6.

For the longest time I thought the snow outdoor scenes were indoor studio shots. I mean who would actually want to do cold frigid weather shots in actual cold weather? I always feel cold watching the snow scenes. It doesn’t hurt that I typically watch this movie during Christmas time here in the United States. Now the realism of all the cold outdoor scenes make sense.

I was once in Whitby sat on a bench near the 199 step's looking at the maps on my phone , and somebody stopped me and asked me where flower gate Street was and the street they were talking about I could see on the map . So I deliberately sent him the wrong way , lol knowing fine well That I would never see him ever again . And then an hour later I bumped into him , lol (Nothing was said) But you could tell by the look on the person's face that he wanted to say something , lol 😅🇬🇧
